Texas here, and I don't think Australia is a laughing stock. I genuinely feel for you guys. What these climate extremists over at the WEF and YGL are doing to the world right now is repugnant, it is wrong on so many levels. There is literally like a handful of people doing all of this to your country, they are gearing up to do it to us here in the States. People need to stand up to this and let them know that they are not as "in charge" as they believe that they are. I guarantee you one thing, the more the general public allows them to get away with the more they will try to get away with. It will never end, and it will never be enough, it is like a thirst that cannot be quenched, their lust for power over the common people. They will issue harsh edicts and force people to do things that they themselves won't do because they believe they are above anyone who isn't mega wealthy. I do not see how they intend to get rid of oil however, our modern lives are simply far too dependent on the products that are produced from the biproducts of the oil refining process. That consists of almost everything anybody in a modern nation has, and I'd bet money that the majority of people in modern countries would be hard pressed to find even a few things around their house that they obtained from a person or a process that didn't depend on oil refineries in order to wind up in possession of it. Australia and every other nation for that matter is going to have to use nuclear energy however. It really is safe, it is dependable, and it is the cleanest form of energy and also produces more energy for the footprint than any other method does. People have learned a lot of lessons over the years and the important things are not to build reactors on fault lines (seems like a no brainer but Fukushima happened) and not to build them near the ocean. Ideally, if it were feasible, building them in desolate type areas such as deserts would probably be worth looking at. If the climate alarmists really wanted to solve the pollution issue, nobody would even need to try to convince them to use nuclear. These people are very smart and they know all of what I've said here, and they understand it. For that reason I question every bit of what they are doing and have absolutely no trust to extend to them, whatsoever. Can't be dishonest and lie to the world about what you're doing and then expect the world not to distrust you. You hear that Klaus? You bald headed prick? You have sinister motives Klaus, and you know it. Personally since Klaus is attacking everyone right now through all of his proxies throughout the world, I feel like the commoners of the world should collectively and simultaneously return that kindness to the Nazi in Davos. Give him a taste of his own medicine and make him live in a tent in the woods with no indoor plumbing, no food, no water, and nothing made from plastic or that depends on electricity, oh and i almost forgot, only allow him to eat meat when we say he can, but probably never. Arrogant fascist prick he is. They all are, Joe Biden included.

This is nothing to do with international agreements - the current outage is due to over-reliance on fossil fuels and unreliable coal plants. The worst affected states (NSW and QLD) are those that have the greatest dependance on coal. SA which last year generated 65% of its energy from renewables has not had the same problems and over the last 12 months has had significantly lower wholesale energy prices than Qld and NSW.

There are many medically fragile people who depend on electricity to live. Not everybody can afford a backup generator. Greetings from Brazil. No, no one is laughing because of your energy crisis, it's a thing pertaining only to Australians. On the other hand, we are terrified by how Australia handled the most recent COVID pandemic. Concentration camps, all kinds of forced things and mandates. All of it was so unnecessary and over the top.

Australians should be reaping the benefits of the wealth of this land from its abundant resources such as its natural gas and minerals. Politicians from both Labor and the LNP need to explain why this country can sell 100 billion cubic metres of natural gas for $800 million while Qatar can sell the same quantity for $27 billion? ".... Australia is set to become the world’s largest exporter of LNG by 2021, overtaking Qatar in the Persian Gulf. But that year, when both countries are each forecast to export roughly 100bn cubic metres of LNG, Australia’s government is expected to receive just $800m in PRRT revenues, while Qatar’s government is expected to receive $26.6bn in royalties.” (The Guardian Newspaper) “New analysis of data published by the Australian Tax Office (ATO) shows that five of the gas industry’s most prominent companies have paid no income tax for at least the past seven years, despite a combined income from their Australian operations of $138 billion. Four of the five members of the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA) (Arrow Energy, Australia-Pacific LNG, Chevron and ExxonMobil) that haven’t paid any income tax are foreign owned resulting in all profits heading straight offshore.” “In 2015 Chevron estimated it would have paid around $4 billion in “direct taxations and royalties” by 2020. It has paid no income tax or resource tax over that period. In 2013 Shell claimed that its Prelude floating LNG project would pay $12 billion in taxes over the life of the project. Shell has since acknowledged it will never pay PRRT and has paid no income tax since 2015. An eighth company, Australian company Santos, paid just $6 million income tax on $28.9 billion of income, and paid no income tax from 2015 to 2018 and 2020.” (Australia Institute) , ".... Yet, US oil major Exxon has sold a staggering $56 billion worth of oil and gas - drilled from seabeds around Australia - and paid not one red cent in tax on that income in six years.” (Michael West 2021 Tax Dodgers) The cost of living in this country is being driven upwards because the entire burden of funding the running costs of this country are falling entirely upon the shoulders of its citizens. Meanwhile, big business pays nothing in tax and, in some cases, even receive handouts from us the taxpayers. Both sides of politics are responsible for this situation. “The major issue of inflation since the pandemic is that the price of non-discretionary items - ie those things you can’t avoid paying, like food, utilities, petrol, insurance - has risen faster than for discretionary items. In the past year the prices of non-discretionary items rose 6.6%”. (The Guardian Newspaper) The one factor all of these discretionary items have in common is that their rise in price is driven by the government’s tax structure and its ever growing demand for revenue to fund its responsibilities. For example, a rise in the fuel excise tax makes the task of transporting goods around the nation more expensive and so supermarket prices are, in turn, forced to rise. We then experience this as a growing cost of living burden. If big business paid its fair share of taxes then the burden placed upon you and I would not be so great and taxes like the fuel excise, for example, would be much lower.
