Laws don't prevent crime,at least not directly. They enhance order in two ways. First, the penalty for committing a crime could be a deterrent for choosing to engage in the activity. Second, it provides penalties if you are caught. Basically, they can't stop it, but they can penalize you if they catch you. There will probably force social media to engage in age verification when new accounts are created. Then, they will monitor social media to identify content that may be added by someone underage.

What is the intent: To prevent children from being exposed to adult content or becoming victims of bullying or exploitation. What is the Outcome: Instead of using regulated social media platforms that comply with all local and country laws, they will use unregulated social media platforms that do not have any protections for minors or enforce any restrictions on illegal content. An example of this is the recent PHOTO and real ID requirement to view pornography websites in several US states. Tying content viewed/uploaded on mainstream adult sites like Pornhub directly to a real name and person. The result has been an over 200% increase in malware and viruses detected on computers in those States by Microsoft Defender. People went to unregulated websites and ended up with content they didn't want. Be that a virus or something worse. Inevitably this will also lead to a rise in various internet crimes. Like Bot nets, identity theft, and ransomware. ---------------- The intent of a law is only good in so far as outcomes are more beneficial for society with something than without it. The ban on social media will only push kids into darker areas of the internet. Same with bans on mainstream porn. Same with bans on free speech.

This will keep pedo from “EVER” having to talk with teens I been saying this for long time we need this in America to pass a law where if you are 18 or under social media should not be allowed and also social media should start asking for ID number to confirm your age that way you don’t try finding ways to lie the system

I 100% agree with this, but I think it should go up to 18 because social media is toxic. There is a young boy and my friends daughters class and fourth grade that killed himself over bullying online teenagers are no different social media is toxic. It’s disgustingpeople get away with saying the most heinous garbage to each other with no repercussions. I deleted all social media stuff since six years ago. I only use KZbin and it’s been great.

If you can't censor the content then ban access to the platform. 🤔 We dont want young minds possibly influenced by anything besides propoganda. How about letting parents decide on this one.

Never had an issue with Australia until now.... please for the love of everything... don't make that ban official. I can't go into the whys and hows... but if you ban the use of the most common form of communication before job age, then at job age, the kids will be so far behind the rest of the world in communication skills and be at a loss for some jobs that require said skills. Yes they could be taught, but this is against people who had been doing it since they could hold a phone.......

Uh no it’s YOUR fault you can’t parent your own child. Take their phone away, discipline creates respect.
@sky_pirate5 сағат бұрын
@swetsTV Discipline also crosses into tyranny at a certain point. Prohibition always crops up, and seriously, these apps are about as healthy for your brain as lead paint when made maliciously. You thought the methods slot machines pioneered would remain isolated to adult entertainment? Nope, literal governments are building backdoors into these things to spy on their own populace and sabotaging the youth of foreign countries. They know exactly how to get the results they want, and your simplistic "be a good parent" point of view is common sense that shows you drastically underestimate how dangerous these products are just from normal usage. It's not a question of what can we trust. The implications would cascade so heavily that you don't want anybody to have that chance. It's a cold war for soft power over domestic & foreign development that nobody is treating as such.

A more enforceable law to start with could be law against reposting any content of a minor and friending minors.
@spracketskooch4 сағат бұрын
Potentially. The immediate problem there is you'd end up with kids being charged with crimes because they'd still have social media accounts, but not have the knowledge or control to not post themselves. That would also criminalize family members sharing photos of their kids with each other. Sometimes there are no good solutions, and you just have to make tradeoffs between unideal scenarios. Pick your poison is the old term.

So kids under the age of (pick a number) shouldn't be restricted regarding porn, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, et al?
2 сағат бұрын
@@Francis-m2d Well no. Not all. I see your point. But most of those are physical products that already have a limited appeal to kids, and already have heavy restrictions (yet kids do them sometimes anyway). Attempting to completely restrict something as easily accessible and highly popular as social media instead of letting parents do that is a nanny state, big government power grab that'll cause larger problems.
