His name isn’t Gout Gout, it’s Guot Guot, the Australian athletics people spelt his name wrong, his dad came out the other day and said he didn’t want his son named after a disease, also Australia should consider itself lucky as his family almost went to Canada before he was born but Australia approved them first, good on him, I’m predicting many gold medals and world records

Peter Norman at the Mexico City Olympics. Two African Americans placed first and third, Norman came second. The two Americans were sent home in disgrace by the American team management for raising a gloved fist in a salute to the Black Power movement. Norman knew what they were going to do and wore a "Black Power" badge to support them. The three men became lifelong friends, and the two Americans were pallbearers at Norman's funeral in Melbourne in 2017(?).

Let's not forget he is Sudanese. Personal experience, living in Australia with and around South Sudanese immigrant families they were always freakishly athletic. Now that those immigrant families have spent a few generations in the west and are part of the system. You'll see more athletes like Gout Gout descendant from immigrant families coming out of Australia.

We used to be a brilliant athletic (track) country at both the Commonwealth Games & the Olympic games. For some unknown reason we have gone from one of the best in the world to one of the worst. Swimming is our thing when it comes to the Commonwealth & Olympic Games & at world championships. We are the best swimming nation alongside the US, possibly better. Swimming is the only rivalry we have with the US when it comes to sport & that's purely because they don't play the same sports as we do along with the 50+ Commonwealth nations. The majority of our sports are sports played primarily by Commonwealth nations like Cricket, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Netball to name a few sports. Cricket is the biggest sport in the world after Soccer & all the cricket playing nations travel the world 365 days of the year playing international games whether it's Tests, ODI's or T/20. The Cricket competition is the international competition, it's one of the only sports in the world where playing & representing ur country is a full time job. There's no one off international games here & there it's just purely an international comp. Yes all nations have their domestic comps or first class comps so here in Australia our domestic comps are played between all 6 states in the 4 day game (5 day games is international not domestic) they play the ODI'S & T/20's & thru that, which is also a full time job, is where u might get the chance to be selected to play for Australia. Also & this is dead set true but our cricket captains of past & even current captain Pat Cummins are ranked above the Prime Minister. Even past PMs & our current PM admit that being the Aussie cricket captain is a much harder job then being the PM.
