I’d say we got lucky with our heeler. From day 1 as a pup, we started hiking with her off leash and she took to it immediately. We now ride mountain bikes, hike, run, etc all off leash with her. The only thing that distracts her at times is other dogs barking, but she’s quickly corrected with just a name call. Absolutely fantastic dogs

Nice job. Beautiful dog. I have had German Shepherds all my life and find them extremely easy to train Siri I honestly could say I showed them something once or twice and that’s it they got it. I got a Australian cattle dog from the spca pure bred 2 years old and he’s so full of energy It makes it very hard to train him. But with summer coming up I got more time to work with him. And I am going to get an E collar.

This makes me estatic. So many people get tjis breed because of a look and don’t know the work they truly need. We fell in love with my dads heeler and after lots of research decided ACD was the dog for us and our future. We Got Chief after my step mom tragically passed away and he saved my life. We’ve thought about training him to be a service or emotional service depending on our state rules etc. he was recently attacked by a pit bull so we have some issues to work they right now however he’s very mannered and catches on fast. he’s in tact male, does pull on a leash so we are looking into the collars. He’s very smart and a very versatile dog.

I have a deaf acd, she was born that way. I've done my best training her with positive reinforcement not treats, I can get her to heel, sit, stay and sometimes lay down. It's all hand signals but is there anything different I can do! She is about 6 maybe 7yrs now I've had her since 2/3 months and can take her off leash while out camping out places where not too many people are but she sometimes takes off when she sees someone to say Hi! It's gets embarrassing bc I can't call her back and have to tell people she's deaf and harmless but that doesn't stop someone's fear! She's always on leash other than if I am hiking or camping! Should I get an e collar and start training with that?

@@AmericanStandardK9 the only thing wrong with having her off leash is I can not call her back so unless I am where there are not many people I don't take her off leash. Other than that I've trained all my own animals from having Staffordshire terriers, border collies, 3 being rotties which 2 of them I was taught them in German. This is my first dog I've own that was born deaf. I can be walking her and her 10ft ahead then stop, she turns around comes back and heels without signal just by me stopping. I was wondering if there was anything I can do to further my training of her. Maybe a vibra collar.

A blue heeler is one of the most loyal dogs you can find, and if you take the time to make a friend of them they will do anything for you once they understand what you want. I have an e collar for my dog but only to stop her from chasing cars, and I absolutely refuse to use it for anything else. An e collar is the best alternative to a dead dog, if you are going to use the e collar at all then use it on the dogs greatest evil and not for every little thing you require of him. Take the time to make a friend first they are not hard to train at all and you will find the perfect dog for yourself. I know I don't want a push button dog, I want a friend and a companion!

If he is going to be a service ....per the government the DOJ that wrote the book on the only 2 acceptable animals. ..dogs and miniature horses.... BOTH of which CAN NOT BE OFF LEASH/ LEAD....nor can anyone other than the owner/ handle have access to the animal or handle that animal... meaning it buddy can't hold the leash for a minute while u do something. .. at that point it's seen as a felony and charges can be made as the buddy holding the leash... means the owner isn't "in need" of the animal.... oh hey can u watch my service dog for a bit.... It's a no go as the service animal is to the owner for a reason and that rain be mantis 24/7 as that animal IS NOT A PET but an extention of the person in need!

The animal should clearly have service dog identification in its body while anywhere outside the home at all times no matter what!!! Also the animal should not be pet or talked to or walked up on by anyone while working.... no it buddy can't pet it no def not a stranger no ur wife or brother can't touch it in public cause that intises others to want to do the same the dog is there for the owner only NO ONE OTHER THAN THE OWNER CAN HANDLE THE DOG!!! I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH....If u see a SERVICE dog being pet and loved on in public by anyone other than the owner .. IT'S NOT A SERVICE DOG IS A LIE!!!!!!

Clearly you're in need of a service dog right now or better yet an ESA emotional support animal. Go pet your miniature horse before you watch any more of my videos as I see you getting triggered. Calm down. I would take the time to clarify some of the points you brought up which come across as the ramblings of a crazy person but then I would be just as crazy for trying to talk sense to you. My suggestion is just go pet your miniature horse and make sure you're taking your meds.... However I urge you to....MAKE SURE THAT ONLY YOU PET YOUR HORSE, AND THAT YOUR HORSE IS WEARING A SERVICE HORSE VEST AT TIMES, AND YOU BETTER HAVE A LEASH ON YOUR HORSE OR THE FBI WILL RAID YOUR HOME AND ARREST YOU AND YOUR MINIATURE HORSE FOR VIOLATION OF PENAL CODE 504.765 "UNAUTHORIZED MINIATURE SERVICE HORSE" 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Letting you dog defecate (poop) on the grass and not pick it up is not acceptable. - all you need is a small plastic bag or a paperbag inside a plastic bag that you can invert over your hand and encapsulate the poop , pick it up and tie it up tight and deposit in the bin or bury the waste 6'' deep or have a special doggy waste compost bin. Owning a dog means accepting responsibility.

Nope sorry. This is not how you train. You don't 'tap the ecollar' without giving the dog the chance to do what you want them to! You give a command and wait for them to do it. If they don't do it on the first command, say it again and tap the collar at the same time. And during early training you give a ton of attention and a treat for the correct behavior. The ecollar is for failing the correct behavior, not for using it at the same time you give the command the first time! Imagine smacking your kid the insant you tell them to clean their room. That is what this guy is doing. They can't read your mind. They need a chance to actually do the thing you asked for before you punish them!
