I sympathize with the farmers , because I come from an old American farming and cattle ranching Texas family . But I am also for protecting as much wild life as possible because I've seen the destruction of so much wildlife in my own country . The loss of each species means eventually man will suffer for it .

We live on the edge of a large town in Queensland. We get rainbow lorikeets, galahs, cockatoos, magpies, king parrots, corellas, native doves and other wild birds flying in every afternoon for a feed. It is very pretty to see but they can make an awful racket at times. They are wild birds all of them but they will land on me and eat out of my hand. We feed them wild parrot food. You have to feed them properly or they can get sick. At night, the lorikeets settle in a nearby tree and argue and screech at each other. The noise can be deafening. The cockies are the most destructive - they chew and destroy everything eg TV aerials, pegs on the clothes line, wooden windows trims, awnings, gutters, any wires attached to the house. They also screech when the food is late getting out. They will rattle and chew on the screen door until the food arrives. We have replaced 3 in 10 years.

Here in Oz parrots are part of the scenery pretty much everywhere. Makes me realise how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful country with unique flora and fauna. I hope a solution can be found that dosent impact on these beautiful but destructive parrots..unfortunately,some native and all introduced fauna that thrive in these conditions becomes pests.

You also need to look at the other side of it. Video talks about 'polluting' parrots. Well, it's nothing compared to the pollution created by Australia's awful farming techniques. Sure, some species are overwhelming. Others are extinct or on the verge of extinction, thanks to habitat loss caused by farming.

We have parrots in N. America, but not north of Mexico (unless you count some escaped, breeding invasives in Florida). We used to have a native parrot in the USA, the Carolina Parakeet -- of course we utterly obliterated them by the early 20th century, because they were a nuisance to farmers. Don't do the same in Australia.

@@memememe2674 😂I was thinking the same thing…. So feed the birds instead of the people. Pay for their damage they do to property, feed them the grain and fruit that is grown for human consumption. They drink up the water when you’re on a drought. But Australia has a problem. Didn’t they have feral cats and the cats started killing off protected/extinct bird species and paying per feral cat to be killed. Hawaii had the snake issue and now they have a mongoose issue.

@@bugsygooare you living there? If not then move there first before you make any such claim. Obviously they can wreak havoc on farms , of course we have too much co2 out there because of farms ,so it doesn't really if the farms shut down ,Right? I say just stop eating anything if we don't need farms and see how that goes!!!! !!Losers

Implementing strategies to minimize damage to wild parrots is critical to our crop yields.

Implementing strategies to minimize damage caused by wild parrots is indeed critical for the success of crop yields. Finding ways to deter their feeding behaviors, such as using protective netting or implementing scare tactics, can help strike a balance between protecting crops and respecting the natural behaviors of parrots.

All of these various species are absolutely beautiful!! We don't have large wild parrots like that here in the US. I do understand that for all their beauty, they can also be a nuisance in such abundant numbers.

Is there a way to strike a balance between conserving parrots and protecting agriculture?
@tony98discovery
@tony98discovery Жыл бұрын
Striking a balance between conserving parrots and protecting agriculture is a complex challenge. It requires thoughtful approaches that consider the needs of both parrot populations and the agricultural industry. Developing sustainable practices, implementing protective measures, and fostering dialogue between conservationists and farmers can help find solutions that benefit both parties.
