Bloody Marvelous mates. Been inspiring my sailing since the National Sailing Centre in 1977 . Was an instructor, and saw that film!

These are amazing ! I have never seen one before, but now I am trying to work out if there are plans about anywhere?

There are plans for several boats and lines plans and models for many more, and THE OPEN BOAT book explains how to build them. However I’d seriously urge you to put a lot of thought in before you start…..these are racing boats that require relatively protected waters, a large crew of experienced sailors and a chase boat because they cannot self-right once capsized. They are not suitable as a general pleasure sailer.

Yep I agree. I imagine they are as practical as a foiling moth ! I would just like to see more of the designs and the progression. I am amazed at how extreme they are for their age. @@SmithysBoatshed

Best place to start is in THE OPEN BOAT book which has a history and evolution of the 18-footer including several lines plans, see www.openboat.com.au @@james5553
