I think at the end of the day Cameron was more than just a soldier. He's a symbol of exactly what Australia is. Yes, he was a soldier, a warrior of who had paid the ultimate sacrifice for the better of those he loved but at the end of the day he was just an ordinary bloke who gave his life for his friends and that's exactly what being Australian means. So proud to be Australian and hopefully one day I can be half the man that he was. Rest easy Corporal, your work is done.

Having once been in the ADF and worn the uniform, I couldn't be prouder of Cpl Cameron Baird VC even if he was my son. Soldiers like Cameron and Ben Roberts-Smith VC do what they do for their mates fighting beside them; their Regiments and, ultimately, for all Australians, yes even for those 27 mongrels that felt the need to dislike this moving documentary. Every soldier who has the job of making contact with a hostile enemy knows they could end up like Cameron and, yet, they still choose to do 'just their job'; if ever there was an understatement, that's the corker. Maybe more Australians should have a folder of the people who have been lost in battle, like Cameron did. All wars are bad but if we didn't have people like Cameron and his comrades, we'd be lambs to the slaughter for the world's terrorists. RIP Corporal, this old bloke salutes you. BH
