When Francis Scott Key wrote it he did not write it as a song. It was written as a poem. This is however, the way it should be sang every time. A lot of performers think it is just a chance for them to show off THEIR style.

As an American veteran, who recognizes our nation is experiencing very divisive trouble times domestically, this exceptional and intimate performance of our National Anthem by this gifted man, reminds us of the true meaning of the lyrics written by Francis Scott Key during a time of war, that we should heed our nation's history to avoid repeating it. Thanks for reacting to this. We know Aussies like you are true friends to Yanks like us and the feelings are mutual. I am a 71 year old female American. This version of my country’s anthem brought me to tears. Unlike so many of our young, I realize what humanity globally will lose if we lose our collective freedom in America. Courage & tenacity of enduring spirit is needed right now across our globe. If our Bill of Rights is cancelled in this country, our entire planet that embraces humanity will be extinguished. Our anthem expresses what ALL people feel & NEED to live free. God bless humanity. We must NOT allow those surviving elites to blow out our LIGHT....as they have done, countless times before; countless civilizations before. They are rewriting our human history again as they have done for eons. Must NOT allow them free reign again lest we be buried & forgotten.

I'm a proud American but this version takes it to a whole new level. Thanks to Chris Stapleton for this fantastic version our national anthem. To everyone else n the world, learn your national anthem and sing it proudly. Be a national patriot and support your country. Don't ever let them take that away from you. Love of country and national pride will keep you together. God Bless.

Hi from Indiana.... I am 44 and knowing how the song came to be makes this performance the BEST ever!! I always had Whitney Houston's performance #1 until I watched Chris's and by him simply standing on the field with a guitar and bringing the song to life as people in the past used to hear it and live it..... we are fighting to keep the USA what it is right now and this gave all of us freedom fighters hope I believe.
