Remembered the good old days when I assisted my mother in doing this sweet dish called For Dodol for Christmas and it was a hit. Even now . Thumbs up to you .

So nice to see this traditional goan sweet made in the traditional way... Unfortunately, we can't do this in a city.. nostalgia... relatives used to make it this way for us when we visited our home in Goa as children.

Yes it looks too yummy I will try it I use to make earlier for Christmas but not that so good too hard it was ok for so long didn't make it 15 year past but now seeing you video i liked it may try it again I am quite old now but yet i am quite strong will definitely try ur recipe am goan from Bombay 😁😉 god bless 🙏👍❤️

Thank you for showing the recipes in a more traditional way. Cooking on the firewood and watching it is delightful. Sitting on the adao and grating coconut would be more fun to watch but thank you. It is a fantastic video.

Wow nice. My auntie's in sawantwadi cook just like that. But in Mumbai we cannot cook in such huge quantities. It would be really helpful if you would show the ingredients in smaller quantities also. (Atleast in the description box)

My Grandma used to make this sweet called Dodol. She used a dark purplish looking rice to make it. It was difficult to get, but, it made all the difference. It was absolutely delicious. What's the name of the rice which u hv used in ur recipe? It looks like ordinary cooking rice to me.......

In Sri Lanka we too make dodol with the same ingredients. However, there is a little difference in the way we make them. Traditionally ONLY thick coconut milk is used; and instead of rice flour, we soak the rice overnight and pound them in a mortar. The 'rice flour' has a slight coarse texture. When cooking, the oil that is generated from boiling coconut milk is scooped out until there arent any oil. This oil is then stored for other purposes.

Jennifer Iyer recipe for 5 portions 115 gms crushed coconut jaggery. 30 gms roughly chopped cashewnuts 2 pinches salt 2 tbsp sugar 1 cup (250ml) coconut milk 75 gms rice flour * Cooking time around 30 mins ( remove it once it starts getting thick).....preparation time 20 mins.

How much litres of coconut milk should I use? Sizes of coconut vary....so I3 coconuts can give only a rough idea...

Ms Newton Newton thanks for asking this question. 1 coconut will give you around 400 ml of thick coconut milk. (250 ml of coconut cream) So for 13 coconut it's around 5.2 litre of coconut milk And more 5.2 litre of thin coconut milk that makes it 10.4 litre of coconut milk (This is a bulk recipe)

Spoonandpaper it depends on the water you add for extracting the coconut milk because you have to remove the thin and thick extract.

Hi cecilia, sometimes the jaggery does not give enough sweetness so you can add little sugar in tht case. Ya more quantity takes more time but quantity of rice flour should be as per the recipe otherwise the texture of the dodol will be too thick.
