Thank you Little Cooking Tips - it's true they don't always use lemon in Greece on salads, often a juicy tomato will suffice. Some times I have observed a little vinegar added. And Fashiondoll24, some people do add peppers as you suggest - a personal choice really. There is ongoing scientific research on the Mediterranean diet looking at the benefits of adding some 'acid' to foods/recipes e.g. to lower the GI or reduce formation of AGE's in cooking. Interesting stuff!

Pretty close, the only thing i would like to add is usually it's made with red vinegar, as long that's how i'm used to Greek salad, i was grew up in Greece and 9 out of 10 times it was vinegar in this salad, not lemon, but you can add a quarter of lemon if you want.

Im going to make this salad this week. My garden is bursting with tomatoes and cucumbers and dill. Is it a diiferent greek salad that has yogurt and dill in it? Can I put yogurt and dill in this recipe?

ArabMusic23 I did make this. It was delicious. Everybody loved it. I couldn't find pita bread so I used flour tortilla instead. I didnt put yogurt in it because i had really good balsamic vinegar and good olive oil. Family wants me to make it again!

Leave it to the Limmeies to show us how not to cook.... never let a limmie into the kitchen unless it is fish and chips. NEVER fry in extra virgin olive oil. It is a cooking oil not a frying oil. If you have to fry in olive oil do not use extra virgin olive oil, use just olive oil instead. Olive oil has a low smoke point and breaks down if you exceed. It is ok for frying on low heat.

You need to be more precise when u make videos for Greece..we don't eat oil for breakfast as u said and..we don't put lemon in Greek salad..where did you saw this...???And red peper?no.You have it wrong.Greek salad contains only tomato,cucumber,olives,Greek cheese(feta),Oregon,green peper ,onions and salt.That is what is called as GREEK SALAD.The more simple someone makes it the better taste.What makes a Greek salad good is the White cheese called as FETA...there is a wide range of types of Feta.The secret of Greek salad is the cheese.
