Vegetarian choices, yes plenty. Vegan.. not so much. You could have cepelinai with cottage cheese filling, which is also delicious. Potato pancakes without meat, cold beetroot soup is made with only vegetables and buttermilk/yogurt and a bit of egg. There's a lot of sour cream and milk based products in our traditional food that a vegan would have a hard time, unless you went to a speciality place in a big city.

@blueeyedbaer5 жыл бұрын
Leter C in cepelinai is pronounced like "ts" in "cats" and "ai" is pronounced exactly like "I" (a personal pronoun, not a small L). It's not a whole boiled potato but a dumpling made of potato dough. That cold beetroot soup is actually very easy and quick to make. You need only three main ingredients (boiled and shredded beetroot, sliced fresh cucumbers and kefir or sour milk), some herbs (spring onions, dills and maybe parsley) and some salt and pepper. You just mix all the ingredients and chill the soup in a fridge. Some add chopped hard-boiled eggs just before eating but it's not necessary actually.
@Travelwithchris5 жыл бұрын

FYI I think you ordered different pancakes than in your annotation. There basically are two types of potato pancakes with meat inside: Kėdainių blynai and Žemaičių blynai. The difference is one is made with raw fried potatoes the other is made with boiled and fried potatoes, you wouldn't think there's a big difference in taste but they are quite different. Anyway Žemaičių blynai is made with boiled potatoes which makes the pancake look yellow outside (think boiled potato with bits of brown) while the thing I think you've ordered is Kėdainių blynai (made with raw potatoes) has more brown-gray exterior. Both are absolutely delicious though.

The color is similar to the cepelinai I used to have at my grandma's house. So this place does use the authentic Zeppelin recipe (50% boiled potatoes, 50% raw potatoes). The traditional recipe is quite a bit time consuming, so a lot of places use just boiled potatoes. But the traditional is the best hands down.

i need to ask a actual Hispanic? DO you love sour cream as much as most Caucasians(especially Lithuanians? Like its hard to just ask online cause anyone can reply and such blah blah. like a good portion of Hispanic food in America like burritos and such come with sour cream but I only know it does in America do you guys use it a lot . like is it really used in these countries or more of a immigrant use of something here?
@richard76733 жыл бұрын
