Thank you for this episode! It was especially interesting being a content creator, I always try to question myself on who is my content made for. What image do I give off, how can I make the place a better place, how to resist not posting solely for brands and colleagues to see where I’m at professionally, but most importantly to keep this authentic connection with the people that watch my content. It’s a difficult task since money is involved and I have a pressure to still respond brand’s need and keep a certain image that will attract other brands. But this episode helped me in new ways!

Social media by its nature beckons one to put on his or her best self, but currents of authenticity should stream through as well if we're trying to be real. I think in being real, that this will naturally attract others to us for being genuine. "Living for me," as Matt states. Also, I think authenticity is a function of getting older. For the most part, older people don't have time or desire to feign an image, since they probably have "been there, done that." I also like Matt's notion of congruency, which I feel trumps authenticity, since each person would appear to have their own sense of authenticity.

Yes, there are thirst traps on my Instagram account, but the pictures that are really love are the ones with my husband and friends, my trips and art. And as a good millennial, my selfies during my workout are a must, and the food that I enjoy must be documented too! lol (mostly to tag the place and come back) So I think I’m authentic there… most of the time. It takes time to get to now someone personally or through the media. Any assessment you make mark it as a temporary. Being needy or dismissive clouds your judgement. It takes a long time to become a "me." Everybody changes over time and through moods. If you feel peaceful about your self presentation that's authentic. Still not everyone's going "to get you" or even notice. So what? Being you is worth it..
