I also started reading because of King. My first book, however, was Pet Semitary and it was in the 5th grade which is why I know that King wrote many huge blockbusters before Misery. He had even been a movie star and written screen plays by then. Some of those books, which I also read, included The Stand, Christine, Carrie, Cujo, the Bachman Books, Thinner... I was such a prolific King reader, I knew I was getting a book from someone every holiday (I was given It when I turned 16 by my friend Cortez) and English teachers would ask, "Which Stephen King will your book report be on this time?" So incredible to see him keep producing. Thank you for all the great stories you've given us.

The scariest thing I ever read (actually listened to) was King’s short story “The Man in the Black Suit.” I think the hairs on my neck got pretty close to standing on end. We were camping over Halloween weekend a few years ago in our comfy small RV on a wonderfully pitch black, cool, rainy October night in Western Ohio. We brought Pet Sematary on dvd to watch that Friday night after setting up and having a late dinner. A little over halfway through the film and snug in bed, the whole RV started sliding off the front jack blocks like we were being pushed by something! Freaked us right out like nothing else!!! (After the initial shock, I figured it was a prank by teenage kids - and/or Bigfoot - but, alas, the front stackable jack blocks are plastic, it was rainy and slick, we were parked on a very slight incline, and we had decided to not deploy the four manual stabilizer feet until the next morning in dryer weather. That was the mistake. Walking inside the RV had caused the front jack to begin to slip off the blocks in the wet. Lesson learned.)

Great writer ✍️ this guy is! I had to stop reading his books tho, because I couldn’t put them down and I always felt a Demond was right behind me reading story; I kept looking behind my back, it messed with my nerves too much, I guess ‼️I always wondered how he knew so much about his characters? King is the type of writer that he’ll be telling you a story and all of a sudden, he stops to describe how one of the characters in the story became so evil and before you know it, you know more about him/her then you wanted to know; still you can’t put the book 📚 down and you question yourself, if there’s something wrong with you for reading this stuff. The Stand is a great book by the way and I also liked Four Seasons, it’s four different stories. I like that he said: “I’ll stop writing ✍️when God makes me stop!” , as a Christian myself, I’m glad he also believes in God ☝️!
