Kidnapping is a felony; a very serious crime and one can be sentenced for decades in prison. He looks older so a kidnapping charge may very well be a life sentence for him. He's been to prison before so he very likely knows this.

What I really wish they would've made public was details into his last arrest. They said he was charged for a similar case, maybe soon they'll be able to give the public more details into that

My thoughts on the part where they said he tried to commit suicide, if he wanted to kill himself, I think he wouldn't have a problem killing the family. It's good that the authorities caught him while he was still alive. I can only hope he didn't kill the family but based on some of the statements made there is a chance that he probably did unfortunately. EDIT: Why did I have to wake up to hearing that the family was killed? Some people in this world don't know what peace is or how to resolve conflicts without physical abuse. An article was JUST released that his prior victim also owned a trucking business and was an employee who was terminated. He threatened to kill the owner and his family and stole items and cash from their home. My hope is that they are still alive… violent criminals who were once caught for a similar crime usually escalate due to not wanting to leave any witnesses. I do not believe he’s an undocumented immigrant as he was not deported after his stint in prison.

This is probably one more example of cartels infiltrating California thanks to their 'sanctuary' status. My guess is the business refused or somehow ran afoul of smugglers (human or drugs). Since there was apparently no ransom demanded, this would have been some sort of punishment for doing something to someone with Salgado hired as the kidnapper and hitman or just kidnapper.
