Hi! I appreciate your viewpoint on this a lot. I still find the need to use these labels to explain myself and my children though unfortunately as I have not found other explainers that NT’s understand quickly. I have boy/girl twins for example and my girl passes for NT but has significant needs, her twin on the other hand who is non-verbal cannot participate in NT activities at all and has significantly more care needs at times and needs more accommodations, maybe that is the wording that would be best to use for explaining but I have a hard time with that too because feel it diminishes my daughters(and my own and my other sons) as at times their care needs can be greater and accommodations more as my non-verbal boy is sometimes much happier and less effected by social situations and anxieties the way they are. Do you have a recommendation on how I can describe their differences in a non-lengthy way that wouldn’t bother others in the Autism community?
