In this one, I talk about a concept from Donna Williams called "exposure anxiety." It's a self-protection mechanism, but it's one that disconnects you from the world. I read the introduction to Donna Williams' book, or rather, a version of it that I "translated" to make it easier to understand.

My name is Christian Swenson. I'm a 29-year old autistic man with interests in philosophy, art history, and all sorts of things. I made this channel to talk about the experience of autism from an autistic perspective. Autistic consciousness isn't normal consciousness. The autistic world isn't the normal world. I want to explore that world with you.

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing Donna's work with us. I have been grappling with my own debilitating fear, I think it may be this exposure anxiety. I am going to need to rewatch this a multiple times to get it all.

Thank you thank you thank you so much to Christian as well as Donna, seriously I cannot thank you enough, the words that you both have spoken are what I've been trying to figure out for years about myself. This just helped me a ton.

Thank you for this translation! Did you by chance do this for all the book? If so how can I get a copy? This is definitely something I was to use to communicate with my therapist so we can work on it. Boy did it hit home!
