Autism isn't just about the mind. It effects the body as well -in this case, the gastrointestinal system, or at least, the abdominal area. Please comment and let us know how you are dealing with this issue and what works/ does not work.
Also, I've been getting a lot of questions and concerns about why I failed to carry my son down the stairs. Thanks for the concern, but to answer in a pinned comment, I've had knee surgeries on both legs. Sometimes I get "dead leg" where one of my knees bends very quickly and I stumble. I didn't want to risk dropping my rather large son. Please understand we care about our son dearly, it had nothing to do with neglect. Thank you.

Yeah it’s tough luckily for me it’s usually only a kind of pain that makes me have to go to the bathroom and then after I end up feeling waay more better but either way it sucks that dairy anything can’t be tolerated from my stomach I want to get it used to these things but it’s not that easy although it would be helpful the next time I see my doctor which would be for a blood draw so then maybe I can see if I really am somewhat lactose intolerant or something because it’s hard to be having dairy anything but having to have it in smaller amounts so then my stomach won’t act up but it does unfortunately even from a small amount

I saw this back in 2017 not knowing what that pain felt like. By the ending of 2017 I was a my friends house down the street from me. I started walking home and got a bad stomach ache out of nowhere and collapsed on the ground crying in pain. I got rushed to the hospital with serous medications. The pain was undescribed and I feel so bad for this kid.

Exactly it really is however this issue in particular only occurs to me if I have anything dairy related I don’t know why exactly but even if I had a small amount it’s still enough to make my stomach feel like I have to use the bathroom badly and I hate that I kinda have some sort of intolerance to anything dairy related such as cheeses but I really love cheese I mean I don’t know in general if it’s more than likely for autistic people to become lactose intolerant years later or so but either way it’s not fun to deal with everytime I have anything dairy related and I don’t want to switch up to only almond based milk like my lactose intolerant sister uses but I have cheerios and I have to finish majority of it and just deal with what I have to after everytime from having it with 2% cows milk

I think it's possible that GI issues are somehow related to Autism. There's been some research on how people on the spectrum seem to have an abnormal gut microbiome which would contribute to the stomach problems. Idk if it's something that's always a symptom of Autism or if it's just something that's more likely to happen if you have it. For me, I've had problems with constipation my entire life thus far, and I would have episodes of extreme stomach pain as a kid that I now recognize was from constipation. I'd literally go for a week without a bowel movement sometimes

My dad has something similar because back in 2009 he got shot in his cousins backyard an it hit him in his gut giving him multiple health problems including hyernias I'm still shocked that he didn't die and was able to have me in 2014

❤❤❤. I feel your pain. My son went thru a week crying all night and day. We took him to urgent care and they had to look at his stomach. My son was not able to speak so he would cry and scream. He was constipated and then develop a burping which the doctor say it acid reflex. Too many things go wrong with this disorder. I pray and hope that he both our kids get better. ❤❤

I am on the autism spectrum, I once had to be sent home from primary school with the most painful stumach ache ever after eating cockles for lunch from my packed lunch, i have never had so much stumach pain in my life, we all hought it was food posioning , i laid on the couch, i was rushed to casualty, all it was was trapped wind, i had never been so embarresed as after i had oral paracetamol i let off a massive fart! My mum is an ex nurse she called the switchboard whist i was lying on the couch literally screaming like Ian! I have food saftey training and i know that fish can be dangerous and can give you severe food posioning in as little as an hour, but if you had booze it can take as little as 30mins! I also had to stay in hospital before now with an infected puncture wound on my elbow, i had never felt pain like it, i literally cried all the way home due to the pain! I had my birthday in hospital, i had chickens for my birthday, the nurses was like you can bring the presents in, but my mum was like no, as of the risk of simonella etc! Do the allowed me home to open the presents! And the pain whilst opening my presents was unbarable as i had a canula in my hand! That was tge closest expeience of what it must be like if your fed by a gastro tube with a pump! I was on Av antibiotics! They was thinking about operating due to the risk of sepsis!

This sounds like you need to change your diet if you haven’t already. I had so many issues with stomach pain and nausea before changing my diet. After removing gluten, sugar, and dairy, I had SO many less stomach problems.

In my experience the best description I could ever give was that it felt like a red hot poker being slowly pulled though my intestines. Can get much worse, sometimes the gas gets caught somehow pushes up against a nerve in the spine and wow I can not describe it at all. There are no words that I know of that convey what it feels like, even words like horrendous and agony don't come close and its so much more than just pain.

I’m sorry had to fast forward through the crying and extreme pain (poor baby, breaks my heart seeing him like that). Anyways I know about picky eating with autism. My son use to like this basic tomato based Mexican pasta soup. What I would do is micro chop chicken breast and spinach and put it in the soup. He never noticed that I was secretly putting in the chicken and spinach. I used the slap chop to micro chop (you could probably use a food processor to do this too).

Diet - if they are active and learning and playing and have an extremely restricted diet from my experience don't worry. During puberty you may need to add some supplements. Daughter survived on bread and milk, we'll the bread was homemade with lots of extra grains less a few that give me migraines. Stomachache in children is reportedly their manifestation of a migraine headache which may sometimes be related to certain natural and artificial food additives. When I was young I would often get a sore stomach (don't recall any as bad as shown) which may have been related to food additives common in the 1960's but generally we didn't have/were not allowed to have these foods as a general rule.

I'm an adult and I have autism, I had stomach pain, sensory issues, texture issues, food issues, intellectual disability, and loud noises bother me badly, I also had very bad meltdowns. I still have sensory issues, stomach pain, some texture issues, some food issues, meltdowns that can get really bad sometimes and I hate a lot of loud noises. I totally understand. My parents found out I had autism at the age of 2, it was very difficult on my mom because she had to raise me with the help of Grandma and some therapy. I also have low muscle tone and it causes issues with my muscles. It sometimes embarrasses me in public because I can tend to freak out and have meltdowns. My mom sometimes takes a video of me having meltdowns, sometimes I breakdown and cry, and sometimes I become mean with my mom during a meltdown. All the basic stuff that people do when their little was delayed for me because of my intellectual disability, I couldn't walk until I was 3 or 4 I couldn't talk until I was 4 or 5, I wasn't done potty training until I was out of Pre-K so I totally understand. That's my story. You are not alone.

Use a heating pad on his tummy. It works on us every time. A really warm (as warm as they can handle comfortably) will help them to go to the bathroom. He really does hurt that badly. I have been like this my entire life.

I call it my IBS-C. I've always had it. Now as an adult I have to take L. Glutamine and magnesium citrate for it, and probiotic powder, and digestive enzymes called Chewyzymes. 100 mgs magnesium citrate powder, in water, 3x a day, to avoid constipation. Stress about new things brings it on.

I know this video is old. But as a neurodivergent child I often had stomach pains. The not being able to sit up reminds me of severe gas/constipation. I remember one time when I had gastroenteritis I physically could not sit up because my intestines where so expanded. Like leaning forward at all to sit up was impossible.

My son had a rough summer with his gut health. He was having groin pain and we took him to the ER because he was crying in the night and isn’t verbal enough to explain his pain. I thought he had a urinary infection. Turned out to be extremely constipated. Very rough night. Two enema bottles later and we were all stumbling home at 4am. My husband and I were more shell shocked by the ordeal than he was. He was waving at the nurse on the way out. Meanwhile, my husband and I are all 😳😵‍💫.

I had this a lot growing up. The number one cause was too much white flour, mostly pizza bases and pasta, plus dehydration. The flour turns into a solid stool that hurts as it moves through. I was raised vegetarian, so it wasn't a fiber issue. I only got better recently, and that's because I drink about 2L of raw goat milk each day and minimal flour. Everyone needs a different diet, but my point is that if his stool comes out as small pellets, it's likely that the pain is hard stool moving through him.

IBS is related to autism. As of myself, I have high functioning autism with his and panic disorder and fibromyalgia. I get terrible pains with bowel movements if I had way too much tomato products. I still struggle with anxiety and get worse ones too. We can reverse it, it takes time and management. He might grow out of the extreme meltdown stage by using a technique called the cognitive behaviour triangle (CBT), breathing exercises, and grounding techniques.

My grandson , age 4 experienced this, and we found he was holding his poop, and was constipated too. he also was very picky eater so I ended up trying the fruit squeezes( Gerber) to make sure he’s getting the fruits & veggies, also lots of apples, blueberries, strawberries. Prune juice as well to help him have a regular poop, so he’s not in pain. Lots of juices mixed with water through out the day. Gas x to relieve gas, hopes this helps.

my son is going through this, he isnt diagnosed autistic but he is having chronic stomach aches like this. i have been trying to get him diagnosed with autism and being shood away by doctors

My brother had this before my brother was on the top bunk. I was at the bottom bunk and my brother went to the edge of the bunkbed and he threw up everywhere of 5 kg of stomach acid!

I had this as a kid, I have autism as well, I am 18 now and I hope these days he doesn't get any pain, Idk how it happens but I never knew autism effects the whole body
