There's no way the Three Houses writers didn't explicitly mean to code Linhardt as autistic, he's gotta be the most clear cut example I've seen in gaming. And I love him.
@mpo48Ай бұрын
oh how i wish you people would care about real autistic people instead of fictional characters. its because they don't have any of the bad parts of being autistic right? that's what this "autisticly coded" stuff is all about. ignoring that people like me whose life is objectively worse because of autism exist and continuing to hate me.

I'm going to recommend Ike: blunt (often called rude by others), lack of facial expression, strong sense of justice, tic (brow furrows when he is upset), possible special interest in training (obsessed in a way no one else in the army is,) difficulty understanding sarcasm and is considered by a lot of other people in universe to have an odd/different way of thinking

Fellow autistic Fire Emblem fan here. Ferdinand’s interactions with Dorothea are a great example of his autistic tendencies. He can’t deduce that she thinks he’s an annoying nuisance when she calls him a bee, and instead takes it quite literally. IRL I’m a lot like him. Social, extroverted, and wanting to do the right thing at all times… but mucking it up constantly! 😝 I love him.

Linhardt had to have been the first time I had ever truly related to a fictional character before, he was honestly what made me start looking more into my own autism and he helped me feel more comfortable just being myself (thus the pfp lol). You point out Linhardt's funnier blunt dialogue, but I've always enjoyed more of his serious moments in his various supports, which show that he's still a living breathing human being who feels bad about hurting others. One of my favourite things about Linhardt being his struggle with the fact that him researching more about his main fixation, crests, will end up being used in warfare to kill people, despite him hating killing. Also the one line that confirmed Linhardt is autistic to me, is the one in his support with Hubert where Hubert straight up says: "You're so good at research, but you only research what interests you, and what interests you can change at the drop of a hat." (phrased from memory, probably not the exact quote).

I’m autistic and while I only got into Fire Emblem about 4 years ago I’ve been SUPER invested in it ever since. I have already played 12 out of the 17 main games, and I’ve replayed a few of the games multiple times. I’ve also gotten into GBAFE romhacks lately, though I haven’t finished any of them yet. My favorites are the Tellius games and Engage, I’ve played Path of Radiance 8 times, Radiant dawn a similar number of times and Engage 4 times. I enjoy Fire Emblem more for the gameplay than the characters, but one of my favorite characters is Soren and I could see him being autism coded. He has traits similar to those you described Linhardt with, he speaks in a blunt and honest manner and doesn’t enjoy people’s company aside from his boyfriend Ike (though the latter trait is more likely explained by his traumatic past rather than autism). Some other characters that I think are autism coded are Lute from Sacred Stones, Lysithea from Three Houses and Merrin from Engage. Maybe Zelkov from Engage too.

Ignatz really resonated with me in my first playthrough: through his huge interest in and passionate talking about the arts, his mannerisms, insecurities and how his social interactions are so genuine and sometimes a bit naive. Ignatius is scared of almost everything, yet actively tries to find the strength to challenge his fears head on, and shines when he is supported by friends and family. Loved this video!! 🧡

Not surprised that Fire Emblem is so popular amongst people with autism as my girlfriend is autistic and loves Fire Emblem. Some thought I have for autistic characters in Fire Emblem are Kagetsu and Bunet from Engage. Bunet especially as being a great chef is basically so ingrained into his being that he obsesses over how everything tastes or smells to the point that he wanted to lick actual lava and fire coming from a volcano but restrains himself do to him thinking it might not be good for his health. He even says that he remembers his friends as well as every flavor he's ever tasted exactly no matter how long it has been. Kagetsu just wants to be a great swordsmen and experience the world, so he obsessively challenges everyone he meets to a duel to test their skills and learn their culture through the exchanges. He became a royal knight of the country of Elusia by BEATING EVERY OTHER ELUSIAN ROYAL KNIGHT IN A DAY before losing to Zelkov who he'd later come to work with upon his appointment to being Ivy's other retainer despite not being Elusian by birth. He also immediately calls anyone he has a pleasant time with a close friend, even if he only had one conversation with them. And his obsession with onigiri is so strong that he despairs when he drops some during his C conversation with Merrin. Jean could also be considered autistic as he constantly is studying medicine and knows more about illness and injury than anyone else in the army at only 10 years old. The boy even does health checks on Alear during his wake-up events in the Somniel when he is supposed to be waking them up for the day just incase a nigh immortal dragon gets a cold.

my favorite fire emblem game is fire emblem thracia 776. the game itself perfected the classic formula where it puts you in situations where it makes you think and how many moves you need to use. The Prison Chapter is a great example of this. As for my autism representative for this series that would go to sigurd from fire emblem: genealogy of the holly war . This is due to his inept perception on his goal in the game and how he fixates on trying to end the war while not knowing hes in the wrong when questioned on why he is conquering enemy territory.

So, I've only played Fire Emblem: Three Houses, but Bernadetta is my favorite character from that game, and here is my argument on why I think she is heavily autistic coded: while trauma from abuse is definitely an explanation for some of her behaviors, the specific ways that she talks about her abuse definitely make me think that she was on the spectrum. She did not understand the social conventions that she was expected to adhere to, and while she tried to conform to her father's expectations, she struggled to understand what was expected of her, and ended up getting punished for what she saw as no reason (the punishments would've been draconian and awful regardless, but from the sound of it, she did not understand what she did wrong in her father's eyes. This is not remotely a defense of her father). And while her overreactions to others and always expecting them to treat her badly is definitely a response to the abuse that she received, the fact that she does this when characters act friendly and nice strongly suggests that she struggles to understand body language and tone of voice. I highly doubt that her father had friendly body language and tone of voice when he physically or verbally abused her. She also seems to have a special interest in carnivorous plants. She is strangely enthusiastic about them whenever she talks about them, and just seems to take that they are cool as a given, and not understand that no one else seems to share her interest or opinions about them. In one of her supports with Ferdinand, he talks about hearing rumors about a noble girl who would lock herself in her room all day and make creepy dolls to curse people, and Bernie A) failed to understand that he was talking about her until Ferdinand explicitly said he was, and B) seemed genuinely shocked that other people had thought of her that way and seemed to not understand why somebody might find making dolls of carnivorous plants weird or creepy. She also seems to like animals a lot, which is really common in autistic people. One of her lost items is a box with a hedgehog on it, and she has a really positive response if you gift her a stuffed animal. And she gets really upset in her supports with Petra when she is forced to go hunting, as she doesn't want to hurt the animals. There's also signs of her stimming. She often hums to herself when doing an activity she enjoys in a way that seems almost involuntary, as she acts extremely embarrassed when she does it in front of others, but keeps doing it regardless (I wonder if her father abused her for doing this). She also shakes her fists up and down when she is upset. I'm lucky to have not grown up in an abusive situation, but as I often had people get upset at me for reasons I didn't understand and had people criticize me in oblique ways that I didn't get, I too often misinterpret things by interpreting them in the worse way possible, and get upset in response. It is way more exaggerated and pronounced in Bernie, but I see myself a lot in her.

So two characters often seen as autistic by the community are Don Quixote and Meursault (the characters are based on literature) from the Korean Gacha game Limbus Company: Don Quixote is a short woman with blonde hair who is utterly obsessed with "Fixers" (the setting's equivalent to mercenaries but with a corporate spin) she sees Fixers are "righteous heroes of justice and saviours of the weak" when in actuality they're miserable wage slaves at best and violent narcissists at worst, she constantly reads fixer magazines, collects figures and memorabilia and wishes to cosplay as her favourite fixers, she constantly brings up niche info about fixers and seems oblivious to the fact that no one else seems to care, there is more to say as her chapter just came out but that's spoilers and it doesn't change much in the end imo. Meursault is much easier to explain (the character Meursault in the novel "The Stranger" is even theorised to be based on an autistic man Albert Camus knew), he is a tall stoic man who basically never emotes and often doesn't speak much more than he deems necessary, he is very monotone but extremely observant and analytical even if he doesn't speak unless spoken to first, though as the story has gone on he has become slightly more proactive shows subtle signs of caring about the other characters, to emphasize Meursault's lack of expression, while most characters have over a dozen different facial expressions, Meursault has like 8 most of which are just his eyes looking left, right or ahead
