Even after nearly twenty years, they still haven't changed the password from basically "password". However in twenty years there was never a breach. Picard's was so long and complex he stored it in LastPass using the Cmdr Data convenience interface. That proved to be a problem when Data took over the bridge.

Bit of late reply but just noticed your comment. Yeah I always thought 60 seconds was cutting it a bit short, but I guess if the whole crew had to be evacuated that would done first before the three command officers activate the sequence.

Interesting, they could have used traditional animation to make that sequence. As for the sync, the added audio was an after thought and I could only edit cuts at one second intervals because of the number sequences (so things were either too late or too early - even worse). I thought for a test that was ok, but even tests need to be perfect lol.

Honestly, I thought the delay was meant to simulate the computer lagging as it processes the inputs. You would want the computer to be absolutely sure that it heard correctly when its dealing with auto destruct.

It's just a jpeg image sequence made with After Effects. The numbers are randomly generated with an expression. I think Flash would be better software for this but I don't have it and have never used it.

Well the meaning is similar but the "auto"-destruct refers to the automated countdown.

when the code is put in it goes in this order: Kirk "Computer this is Admiral James T Kirk request security access" Computer "Admiral James T Kirk Idenity Acknowledged" Kirk "Computer Distruct Sequence 1 Code 11A" Scotty "Computer this is Commander Montgomery Scott Chief Engineer" Computer "Commander Montgomery Scott Idenity Acknowledged" Scotty "Distruct Sequence 2 Code 11A2B" Chekov "Computer this is Commander Paval Chekov Acting Science Officer" Computer "Commander Paval Chekov Idenity Acknowledged" Chekov "Distruct Sequence 3 Code 1B2B3" Computer "Distruct Sequence Completed and Engaged Awaiting Code for One Minute Countdown" now Kirk needs to put in the codes if he says "Code 000 Selfdistruct 0" the Sauser Module will blow up and the docking latches will seperate it from the Stardrive which will burn up when it aproches a planet. if "Code 000 Selfdistruct 1" is put in it will give a 30 second countdown plus the main countdown ending with a warpcore breach. if "Code 123 Continuity" is put in the selfdistruct will be aborted but it can not be used once Code 000 or Code 0001 are used and once the countdown reaches 5 seconds.

At the start, after kirk says computer go forward 15 secs. Then he will say computer again. Then go forward again and scotty will say computer. And then forwards again you hear the end of Chekov saying computer. So all of the “computer” is evenly 15 seconds apart. Weird

Voice activation is no longer foolproof now in 2023. Specimens of words recorded from an individual can now be used to reproduce speech that will fool voice identification software. So, now in 2023, it's not very safe even for bank transactions, let alone the destruct sequence for a starship. Star Trek ought to drop this idea in its next movies/series.
