Will the A320 complete an Auto Land in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020?! Lets find out how it takes one one of the most intense procedures in the real world flight deck.
See my FULL comprehensive set-up guide to an Auto Land in the study level A320 from Flight Factor in XP11 here:
In this video I put the MSFS2020 A320 on the ILS 25L into KLAX for an auto land test!

This default airbus getting a lot of stick but from what I’ve seen on this channel, a real a320 pilot doing some real tests and the majority of them have passed. I’m referring to a previous video I watched as well. With the excellent work being done by modders similar to the zibo mod this aircraft has a lot of potential!

The zibo Flight Dynamics was kind of off. That aircraft never stalls and hovers at 80 knots. I hope this aircrafts basic flight dynamics will be there. With that said, its already confirmed that all the pmdg products will be coming with the 737 being the first one, and I beleive quality wings 787 is coming too. I think all the existing p3d study lvl models will move over.

Yeah i think some people also forget that it's a default airplane. There are some bugs that will get fixed in the future, but for a default airplane that's included in the standard package it's already very very good. There will be room for 3rd party planes / mods, but we shouldn't forget that very detailed planes usually cost around 70€ for each plane in other games like DCS because it takes a lot of time to create them.

In order to type in the correct QNH you need to change the altimeter setting , it has two different settings. If the ATC gives you 29.92 you need to enter that first, then flip it over to QNH and get a 10xx value

I think there's some confusion in the real world (and sim) regarding autoland and Cat III. Cat III is not a requirement of Autoland (specifically), and it's emphasised that they're different things and don't necessarily go hand in hand. While it is a requirement for autoland for a Cat IIIB app for example, you can also do an autoland off of Cat II; to take it even further, the aircraft is perfectly capable of doing an autoland off of a Cat I approach. The A350 can do an autoland off of a GLS app using GPS only (it's certified), as a further example. Oh yes, and great video BTW, liked!

Of course you would never flare with vertical speed indication, but just to find out for this landing another parameter !! Thank you for this nice video, your good and well coordinated explanations, showing you are an expert. And that a US Pilot can fly a European Airplane as well. Hope you like the philosophy. i've got a suggestion for another test you might want to try. How about a one-engine-inoperative takeoff with a fuel cut just before (or at or after for that matter) V1? I haven't tried it yet myself, but I have heard reports that no rudder input is needed. It leads me to wonder if the airplane is basically modeled incorrectly as a centerline thrust airplane rather than having 2 wing-mounted engines.

Autoland is the same in Aerofly FS2, can't press both buttons. And that sim should really be better, Aerosoft used to specifically make A320 simulator games. Have been trying to follow some others describing how to do autoland but ended up missing something, saying "screw it" and doing manual blind landings. Gonna try it again later on using your steps. This is actually an excellent video because I have been wondering how to get the A320neo to autoland. Unfortunately I trusted the aircraft a bit too much and it shovelled me into the runway, lol. I must be missing something because I could not replicate your results. Is there a particular TYPE of approach that you're setting up in the NAV LOG window before the flight? Is it enough just to have the AP on nav mode (managed), speed mode (managed) and the approach mode on with the keyed in ILS frequency? I tried this and it resulted in a crash. If you have some time I would love to get more feedback about this so I can finally do an autoland with this thing :) Thanks and a great video, well done :)

As the A320 is a European aircraft the MCDU wants you to input the QNH in hPa. So 29.92 IN HG = 1013 hPa. ;) Jimmy Carter failed to supersede the imperial system, so the regional differences still confuse everyone. 🤣 EDIT: Maybe real A320 MCDU accepts in hg as well (don't know), but at least the MSFS2020 A320 Neo does not.

@@fabiobertelli I have fixed this issue by downloading the Fly By Wire 320 it simulates everything so much better and the cat3 autoland will land the aircraft all the way to touchdown give it a go.
