I'm drilling tanks now...I have 5 left! I drilled all of my 10 gallons 2" from the bottom so that baby betta water changes are easy peasy.

@@MichaelsFishRoom, I broke one! I changed drill bits and the difference in drill time was night and day. I got 10 20 gallons and 11 10 gallons done with two bits.

When buying sump pumps pay attention to duty cycle. I was always buying them from big box stores and they would last about 18 months. I found one on line that was listed with a 100% duty cycle for about $150 as opposed to what I had been buying for $80. It has lasted over 6 years with no problems.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to use my siphoned water for my fruit(from planted tanks) Do you think this is a great way to fertilize human food, or a great way to get a pathogen? And also, what do you think? Sump pump to 50-100 foot hose running outside? Or is there something simple I'm missing? "Stay in your god damned house" if only people took that advice....

Planted tanks typically don't produce that much nitrogen from water changes because the plants use it all.

Nope, your opening was great. TIP: If you're looking for plumbing / PVC stuff, even the check valves, ACE Hardware carries all that. It's cheaper at Lowes, but they have the stuff a lot of places don't carry. And no, I no longer work for ACE. LOL

Hi Micheal, just another bald goateed guppy breeder here. But, you're the guy with the camera, so thanks for using it. I have had a ro system for over 2 years now. I know. The membrane takes most stuff out, including chloramine, which is what my city has. But I bypass that membrane at times, because pH drifts down. We have naturally occurring ammonia from runoff, which interacts with the added chlorine. My method is catalytic carbon. It's just a carbon block, but with slightly more processed carbon. Seems to work.

As a fail safe for your pump..... I see all your tanks drain into a 50g reservoir and your pump is In there and pump It out.... what if you where to put the 5Og Into another bigger reservoir with another pump. So if your main pump fails water over flows from your 50g into your bigger reservoir with your emergency pump...wouldn’t that work?

Seems like a cool system but if you just let the tanks overflow onto the floor and you put a tube on top of your sump drain and kept about 4 inches of water on the floor you could have an enormous mutt-guppy pond, though you would have to spend money on galoshes.

Nice video. If I were to increase my tank quantity I would start a central drain system. My fishroom is perfectly setup to do that, but since my water changes only take 30-35 minutes a week for 12-15 tanks I don't bother. Very cool to see behind your tanks. I understand the organized chaos.

Great info. Would love to have an automatic system. But I’m just an hobbyist. With that being said, I wish I would have left a walkable area behind my two 125gals that are side by side that are against the wall in my semi fish room which are in front of windows with blinds. It’s near impossible for me to clean the window glass. Ughhhh. Praying for you, your family and all subscribers are safe in this time of COVID-19. @@MichaelsFishRoom - Hey Michael, other than being able to do a fast water change are there any pros or cons to having the bulkhead lower than say mid way down on a 10g or a 20 long? Didn't know if it makes a difference with the glass stability if it was say 2 or 3 inches from the bottom.

They say it needs to be at least 2 inches for any edge, so other than that, I don’t think it matters.
