@@Rusiputki FWD is safer for everyday driving, it's backed up by numbers. It's easier to correct under steer than over steer, and you get more grip when it's wet or snows. RWD is great when you want to go fast. :) Also, this video has many RWD cars, Mustangs, BMW's, and Mercs. Under steer is not limited to FWD.

Not that hard to achieve with bad technique, rear wheel drive understeers on entry and oversteers on exit. These days rear wheel drive cars come with very understeering focused setups so that they're "safer" for a broader group of drivers

It's called physics.
@imnota
@imnota Жыл бұрын
Most rwd cars are aligned and have geometry designed to make them understeer before they oversteer. Reason is the average driver is most likely able to save understeer than oversteer. For example on BMW they come with no camber in the front, and since when turning your outside wheel always gains positive camber, that means your outside wheel has very bad contact patch when turning, leading to understeer. Most people tracking them change that, it makes the car much faster because you're no longer limited by that understeer, but now the car is more oversteery and doesn't warn you like an understeery car would. Plus no matter your alignment, no matter the setup, no matter if it's FWD, AWD or RWD, when you're going too quick in a corner the most likely thing to happen is understeer, you reach such a point where your car simply cannot turn that tight at that speed, so understeer happens before anything else, it's a corner entry thing, like the other guy said, oversteer mostly happens on corner exit, and understeer mostly in entry. Oversteer can also happen in entry for example if you have a car that gets light in the rear under braking, but that's a special case.

@Ивелин Добрев Owned a 2017 Leon FR 180HP DSG with full options. Nothing but problems + under steer And please don't say a seat is not high class, because they are basically the same cars besides plastics and interior insulation. Also, reliability reports say it all so dont try to argue 😉 VAG's are just cheap POS's now. Porches are OKAY But VW, Audi, Skoda & Seat are pure garbage like most german vehicles :) BTW why are you saying that this comment has been written by someone who drives an italian or french cars? I dont drive either of them but i DO know that theh handle amazingly and much better than german ones :)

I was wondering let’s take the example of 2:55, how bad is it for the car. Is it hurting the drivetrain ? The steering ? (How bad does going to the grass add the the damage if any) I question because I have a 2cv Citroen, old car like this have tiny wheel and « lean ? » (goes to the side in corners, sorry my English) and I feel like the wheels are going to break because of the car wanting to go forward and the wheels being to the side (ofc I don’t have THAT much under steer, if even any because I drove slowly) but I wonder if I could break the steering thing or i don’t know what ? Thanks for your time if responding ;)
@sizeathem

Your 2cv has much slimmer tyres and a very simple but effective suspension system. I'd imagine if you tried this you'd either end up on your roof or break the outer wheel straight off the car.

On a modern car tyres take the worst of the struggle, tie rod end, bushings, shock absorbers and springs can take a bit of a beating but they will break eventually. Problem is most tracks are small but by the time you get round the 'Ring at full soeed everything is hot and over worked. That's why so many people modify their cars for going there. For example gas shocks don't go frothy inside like normal oil shocks due to a membrane.

All these cars need varying levels of stiffer rear stabilizer bars to increase turn in and front bite. However the Auto manufacturers want "safe and predictable handling" and proceed to build cars with varying levels of front slide at limit of traction. I say garbage can those factory rear stabilizer bars and put a stiffer adjustable bar with solid bushings and tune out that Dangerous Understeer so the cars will stay on the road.

the understeer in the video was induced by bad driving: too much speed in the corner, bad entry angle and too much steering input (but mostly too much speed). if you would increase the amount of oversteer that would just lead to a lot of crashes. understeer is not dangerous compared to oversteer. so its good the way it is. if you want best performance, then yes upgrade sway bars, however that is only advisable for experienced drivers
@Mr._Flunky
@Mr._Flunky Жыл бұрын
@@Sandro3.2Give the controlling of the vehicles to the ones behind the wheel not the people engineering the things on the first place. This is why any tow yard you go to, mostly every car that's been wrecked is on the front. If you have ever driven a front wheel drive or all wheel drive past its limit, and then driven a similarly prepped car with a decent stabilizer bar at the same place, then you well know how much more control you have over where the car goes. To many keyboard geniuses with no factual experience. Understeer is the enemy not your friend. Once you finally understand that, then you will know what i mean. Anyone can speak about anything, however the truth or lack thereof will be obvious to those who have the experience to know for themselves. As a licensed SCCA Pro Solo driver and long time autocross participant, i do feel i have some idea of how a car should handle. Good luck to you Sir.
@Sandro3.2
@Sandro3.2 Жыл бұрын
@@Mr._Flunky i dont disagree with your knowledge about car handling, but please understand that we are are talking about the regular citizen here, not pro racing drivers. they dont have the skill to catch a car going sideways so it is very important that it does never happen. manufacturers rather want much more understeer than a slight chance of oversteer. also its a very good thing that cars have accidents in the front, because that is the safest way for absorbing shock, has the engine as shield for the passengers and they can be protected by the airbags much better dont you think?
