Can’t wait to see what it looks like when it’s fully put back together in the engine bay! So jealous my 900’s engine bay won’t look as good.

when I was rebuilding my B202, I used permatex ultra gray silicon on everything, I didn't even use the metal gasket on transmission to engine mating. There are no leaks. But I remember back in the day I rebuilt one using paper gaskets because they were still available to buy, and it would leak with in few weeks

Tip for when you first crank the engine: disconnect the fuel pump fuse and the high voltage input wire into the distributor cap, then crank the engine without sparkplugs. This ensures oil really does get everywhere inside the engine before you actually start it and put an actual load on the engine components. And of course, fill up the oil cooler with oil before the fittings go into the oil thermostat housing. Especially the turbo will thank you, it doesn't really like running dry. You should be able, if it's quiet enough in your garage, to hear engine oil dripping down into the sump after you crank it long enough.

Nice job, but as sealer you should only use loctite 518. Its a red "gasket maker" that is for Saabs engines. Never use silicone gasket makers.

I need to see how the belts go on. One of mine on the alternator frayed and I don't know why. I need to replace them.

Ok, I think the 'finger-painting' a thin layer of gasket WAS THE MISTAKE you made that led to oil leaks, or at least one of them. Following the directions of gasket maker, you want to make a thick even bead, like up to 1/4 inch thick, then you want to finger-tighten the piece until the sealant is sandwiched and lightly compressed; then let that dry for an hour before tightening the plate down to spec.

Are you referring to the timing cover? If so, that’s not what ended up leaking. Currently, the only thing left leaking is likely a transmission gasket or the engine/trans gasket, both are gonna be a PITA 😭

Thank you for some awesome videos so far.... ;) About how much did it cost for all the new parts you used?

Did you ever put gaskets in on the timing chain cover side!?!?!?! or did I miss that? or was that part of your oil leak?
@AutoAutopsy
@AutoAutopsy 7 ай бұрын
Yes. We used gasket maker, which is what most recommend. Thankfully it is not leaking

I've been re watching vids trying to learn what specifically was done with the turbo. I can't find it, was it just rebuilt and painted or upgraded? Please enlighten me.

nothing was done to the turbo. it was a "new" turbo when I bought the car and had no issues so I didn't see a point in taking it apart at all

Unrelated to this video, but how much do you usually charge to tune someone’s car using your maptunerx?

Ohhh you used Stretchy Headbolts rather than Reuse the erm.. FAR more reliable (and resusable) originals?? Wasn't the best possible choice. Desirable / klever to immerse Lifters in oil ...overnight at least.. before fitting. You waited until the engine was mostly assembled to blow out the water passages ? But then you spray bombed the engine & trans bits ...Rather than actually clean off all the Crusty oil residue /flakes.
