Geneva motor show 2014: McLaren 650S to offer McLaren F1-beating performance

The new McLaren 650S is faster than the iconic McLaren F1 hypercar, according to its maker. McLaren says the 650S coupé can reach 62mph in 3.0sec and 124mph in 8.4sec - and the Spider is barely slower.

The new McLaren 650S is capable of hitting 207mph and can cover the standing quarter mile in 10.5sec, which is 0.6sec less than the F1. The car was revealed at the Geneva motor show, where a new 650S Spider was also shown. McLaren promises a improved driving experience over the 12C on which it is based, and a larger price tag.

Should have just made more of the Mp4-12C High Sports. That car is what the 12C should have looked like all along! Not a fan of these P1 headlights, it seems silly without the agressive hood of the P1....

gorgeous car, like it's appearance more then the 12C...it will very interesting as to how quick this 650S really is..12C ran a 10.33@135mph on TOYO tires...wonder how close this can get to a 10.00...even stranger is that the P1 recently ran a 9.8 @ 152mph...i guess the major difference is in the trap speed...all three mclarens are amazing.

If I'd were McLaren if would stop producing the MP4-12 entrirely and focus just on the 650S and the P1 Hypercar. I just see no point in still producing a car that's barely cheaper but quite a bit worse... . Besides if they stop the production of the MP4 they most probably reduce the price difference even further (like say to just 10grand) since this - or at least a non-s-Model - probably will be next "Mainstream" car for McLaren

First of all the 650s sits between the 12c and the P1 all three share similar design. The 650s is much faster and a better overall car than the 12c, I don't think anyone interested in owning a McLaren is actually worried about pricetags. The 650s isn't suppose to be there mainstream vehicle, the 12c does that.

A messy looking car, unlike the 12C, and a terrible marketing decision by McLaren. It just shows immaturity and lack of awareness of how to build production cars.
