In winter, I most often use a self-service touchless car wash to rinse off salt. Alternatively, when washing the car myself, I use Karcher RM806. In eastern Poland, there are no major frosts and the winter is mild. Thank you for your advice.

The problem I have in Norway, is the cold weather. It's difficult to prewash. It'll freeze on the car driving to brushless carwash 800 meter away. Getting back to garage the car is ice covered, and need to stand for a hour or two before I can wipe it of. Going to Denmark next week where temps are in plus. Then it'll get a royal treatment.

@fluzzerr they are rare. Normally it only has a roof and no walls. Which makes them pointless most of the time in the winter months.

If your area roads get treated with salt I would recommend using a salt neutralizing spray first so as to not reactivate the salt. Let it dwell for a few minutes and rinse then proceed with your regular washing routine. Stay warm 👍✌️☮️

Fellos in Nordic countries have my sympathies. As for us in the UK, I use prewashes that rinse off easily like Touch Less V3 or GT snow foam V3. Sugar based prewashes that remove most of the dirt 95%>. Cars will get dirty a couple days down the road anyway so contact washing them in the freezing cold makes no sense. Wasting time, water and materials. Wait for the spring or warmer temps to make it worth the hassle of washing the cars. Edit: I thought I had it cracked when I used to dilute my chemicals into pump up sprayers and take them with me to the supermarkets with jet washers in really cold weather to do my prewashes but the supermarkets are useless for reliability and making sure they actually work.

What about the under chassis pressure washer attachment? critical for this time of year. If only they (come on MJJC) made a 1/4 snap connection bottle fitment so you could get some BH touch-less right under the car 🙏

Pretty much what you described is what I do. My chemicals are all indoors from October onward until normally May this is Scotland after all, along with my pressure washer and stubby gun. It drives my wife crazy as I have 4 large plastic boxes with lids for my chemicals plus my box of products I use for each wash. Quick update on my Yum products I am very impressed and my Tar & Residue that was on back order from Black Friday arrived today. I have not been making up the wheel snow foam to the dilution suggested I put 50ml into a litre of warm water into my pump foamer and find it very effective. I have yet to try my glass+. I have been under the weather since Christmas thanks to my son who brought a flu bug home from Uni so I am itching to get out and clean our cars as I can't stand looking at them so dirty. I recently ran out of Snow Foam and had to get some quickly so I bought some of the Halfords own brand that was on offer and I must say I was very happy with it and it was a reasonable price 2.5L for the price I usually pay for 500ml of my usual product.

Can anyone recommend a product to keep green algae from growing in the rubber window strips? Hubby keeps his newer car in the garage, so I keep my car outdoors and we have a lot of rain..hence a lot of algae growth. Thanks, everyone.
@06kellyjacКүн бұрын
I'd also be interested. For now I keep on top of it and use a detailing brush to agitate it (after the prewash during the contact wash) but a preventative measure would be nice. I have an algae etc remover I can spray on the house and my fences but I'm not chancing it on the window seals or the car generally.
@AutoCareHQКүн бұрын
I’ve not found anything that prevents it really. I usually use a citrus and detailing brush and try to keep on top of it
@karlhulme801423 сағат бұрын
@@06kellyjacI don’t have this problem, maybe I just clean the car too much ! However, there’s a couple of things you can try. If you can get your hands on Meguiars Wash + it’s quite an aggressive shampoo and is applied directly to a wash mitt ( a detailing brush may be better if you’re just doing the rubber ). The other thing you can do is push a plastic credit card behind the seal ( soaked with APC or similar ) , this should stop anything building up and spreading from the inside , it will also help prevent those nasty white streaks on the gals when you put the widow up and down. Neither of them act as a preventative measure but they should stop a build up. Hope this helps.
