9:40 the reason why there's no wireless charging in the BYD Dolphin is because the current Dolphin units being released and distributed by ACMobility are all pre-facelift units. If you check western (specifically Australian) reviews of the facelifted Dolphin, you'll see that BYD has actually included a wireless charger (along with many other quality-of-life updates and additions that are lacking/absent in the current pre-facelift Philippine units).

The 2024 BYD Dolphin is an electric vehicle (EV) with a 44.9 kWh battery for the standard range model. To calculate the cost to fully charge it and how far it can go, we need to consider both local electricity rates and the vehicle’s efficiency. 1. Cost to fully charge: • Assuming the average electricity rate in the Philippines is around ₱10 per kWh, the cost of a full charge would be: Php 449 So, it would cost approximately ₱449 to fully charge the car. 2. Range: • The 2024 BYD Dolphin has a range of around 405 km on a full charge, based on WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) estimates. In summary: • Cost to fully charge: ₱449 • Range per full charge: 405 km

Here's the thing, the expected battery life of these EVs-whatever car brand it may be-will be remarkably similar to your smartphone battery's life expectancy and on how you use it day-to-day: if you are a power user and you frequently need to recharge your device, it will eventually degrade faster. No battery is perfect, even efficient lithium-ion cells die eventually. It should be no different to an EV. As long as you replace the car's battery and made sure that its other components are sound and maintained properly, it CAN last a long, long time, just like a normal internal-combustion vehicle.
@yadono6443 ай бұрын
@@lolpartyparrotcar batteries and phone batteries are vastly different. Phone batts last shorter but cars last longer. You'd only feel some degradation on the battery maybe 10years. And it's not as significant as a phone batt.
@lolpartyparrot3 ай бұрын
@@yadono644 While I do agree to that figure to some extent, scientific studies says otherwise. There is a big factor in faster battery degradation, and that's mileage. If we were to use the iPhone as an example, in just 5 years an average iPhone power-user will experience about 13-20% battery degradation, then it will need replacing because your iPhone will nag you about it. Translate that to a typical Tesla as another example, and in around 4-5 years of regular use it too can degrade to that equivalent figure give or take. That's because EVs are cars, they are meant to be driven and driven regularly. Just like our smartphones, every charge cycle means less and less battery life. In the US they drive these EVs to the ground just like any ICE vehicle, even racking up 200,000 miles or more in no time. While you're correct, most modern EVs can last in excess of 10 years and still be usable even in 80% battery life on their original batteries-which is definitely a plus-and as also stated in my source article below, how many average Filipinos do you think will hold on to their EVs come 4 or 5 years? I'm pretty sure EV owners with our typical buy-and-sell stigma will still eventually dispose of their vehicles even BEFORE that dreaded battery replacement period will approach, let alone reach 100,000 km or even 10 years. And who will be the unlucky ones catching that burden? The used car buyer. Just like that typical greenhills-bought second-hand iPhone, used and abused. Here is one of my source if you need to know: www.nimblefins.co.uk/study-real-life-tesla-battery-deterioration
