This is exactly the way of thinking and motivation I needed! I have a tired '06 Ram 1500 that I've been wanting to trade in, but the price of new trucks is beyond ridiculous!! I think I'll look into doing something like this. Thanks for the informative video!

I recently got a 2020 1500 Classic tradesman, which is no different from what you got maybe the transmission and MDS which is not that much cool. Well anyways, my bumber the front one, came out a bit crooked from factory, and ive been learning many of these new trucks even from Toyota, come out defective and they dont do much about it. So yeah, just keep what you have, work on it make it look great!!

@adamlemus75856 жыл бұрын
I like your way of thinking. I tell people all the time that tell me I need a new truck. Even if I have to replace the engine, transmission an rebuild my suspension system with all new bushings an parts it's still will be cheaper then buying a $50,000 truck.
@AutoEdits6 жыл бұрын
Yep, plus... like in this truck... I have a lot of good history with it and want to keep it around for a while!
@adamlemus75856 жыл бұрын
autoedit That's where I'm at. Alot of people i know don't understand this mindset. One of my customers just sent his old Jeep Cherokee to the junkyard because it wouldn't pass smog. Tried to explain to him that the old 4.0 was easily rebuild able but he listened to his brother who is a car salesman an told him some BS that blew my mind to convince him to buy a new ram. Told him that a rebuild would be throwing money dowb the drain on a 25 year old Jeep with 500,000 miles on it. Unfortunately he isn't a major car enthusiast so he thinks in part thanks to his brother that Kelly blue book is the end all in what is or isnt worth anything.
@mohammedshaaeli1546 жыл бұрын
That 50k truck tho is 10 times better than the old one. We are talking new seats, lights, body panels, interior every thing new. Im more of buying new salvage cars( less 10,000miles) and rebuilding it then selling. Th at 15 year old car even with new engine and suspension is not as good as new one.
@adamlemus75856 жыл бұрын
mohammed ali shaaeli I don't think they are that much better. Aside from more advanced infotainment systems there aren't that much different. I have seen the chassis of a 2018 F150 an it's not that much different from my 2006 aside from where the chassis is fluted for weight savings. Engine wise the 5.0 is just a slightly improved Ford modular motor in my 06 an the 3.5 ecoboost is good but problematic once it gets miles. I will say the new transmissions are hand over fist better.
@ethanmarsingill6 жыл бұрын
i wouldn't say "10 times better" my 2003 ford expidiotion's seats still work fine, body panels are rust free, lights are a little old and the interior is well taken care of, its only worth $3000 (new was $60k so ford gave it some 2003 love) but tows my jeep and is fun to drive, if i had the money to rebuild the suspension the same way as autoedit it would be a $50k truck to me minus the heated seats and touchscreen radio that you can get on amazon that comes with everything anyway. A fair estimate would be only 2 times better.

Great video. I used this as a guide for how to restore my own 2012 Ram 1500 Laramie Limited. I had a lot more rust to deal with from nearly a decade of long Alberta and Manitoba winters, with all of the associated road salt corrosion. But I couldnt agree more about loving older trucks, and the end state is awesome. FYI - The tab on the lower control arm (in video @ 15:30) is an anchor for fastening a steel wire retainer that is used to manage factory routing of the parking brake line. This is only used on the driver side (at least on my vehicle) as the passenger side then routes across the rear axle itself.

I read every single comment, and you wowed me with all your dedication to returning thanks to everyone. That is very kind and humble of you, shows great character. You have a great camera presence. In the video I thought you were one of those professional TV hosts working on his 4x4. I just bought my first, and newest vehicle ever 2 months ago, (2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4). I live in Iowa and bought it in Kansas City. My work has me in Houston TX and when I go home for 2 days every 2 weeks I stay in that drivers seat probably 10-15 hours those 2 days. I absolutely love driving it. Some day I will do the suspension like yours and level it with some 35's I'm thinking. For now I'm just going to get that spray "Fluid Film" and soak the undercarriage so the rust don't get it after winter. Hopefully next summer I'll be able to start building it for a little more piece of mind off road/pavement handling abilities. Anyways super great video and please keep this truck and making videos of it so I have something to reflect on in the future, mine isn't going anywhere anytime soon. There's not a whole lot to choose from for 09/10 Dodge Ram 1500 on KZbin. You earned my sub. 👍🐏

I got a 05 Dodge Ram that I want to "Bit by Bit" go through an upgrade, and you got great parts and suspension work! Thanks for posting this video! You are totally awesome and your truck...if she was a girl....would be a complete knockout! Mewow!

As always a great video. Good thing you did all the work, as labor costs would have certainly been pricey, on top of all those high end parts. Enjoy, and happy trails!
@AutoEdits6 жыл бұрын
I actually enjoy doing the labor. That way I have a better idea of how things work and how they are installed. Thanks a ton for watching and yes, I'm a very fortunate dude!

Great job man. I had a 2004 Ram 1500 I completely rebuild everything on. Twinning STS Turbos was the biggest expense. I didn't lift it. Just a leveling kit and more beefy parts to keep it simple. It got totalled in 2010. The frame was bent pretty bad. 3 trucks later I finally got another one Im happy w/. A 2015 Ram 1500 4x4 Quad cab.( Love My Dodge ) As long as I don't get side swipted again ill be doin lots of rebuild.

This video was the inspiration for me doing the suspension upgrades on my 2012 RAM Sport. The only thing I didn't change were the front LCAs and both sway bars. 👍

I really like where you took this truck with the suspension to be able to have a great road trip truck with strong lasting offroad capability. I have a 2014 tradesman 1500 4x4 quad cab. I am interested in taking the suspension to the next level with the 4x4 capabilities. Not a rock crawler as I dont want to grind the truck down to nothing, but want to be able to drive at decent speed through most terrain....looks like you have that type setup...THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!

Thanks 👍 Have you seen any of the road trip adventure videos I've done in the truck? kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXjZc6yFoLeLfa8 is a recent one but it's been to Mexico, Arizona and all over the place!

Great video. It may be the angle of the shot but you may wanna flip the bolts around for the rear swaybar. It looks like they come pretty close to the calipers as you are flexing around a bit.
@AutoEdits6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Funny you mention this because after seeing that in the footage it made me go back outside and check it out as well. It's just the angle from that camera.
@fireman654016 жыл бұрын
autoedit. Good to hear. Looks like you drive your truck like I do. I just didn't wanna see you losing your brakes over a bolt that was too long or could of been turned around.

Aloha Jason What a awesome video. Always like watching install videos with yours jeep and dodge. I know you were saying about the heat wave you been having and how the heat under the tent can be, I have a tick that could help under the popup tent when setting up the tent tie up a secondary trap in the inner frame area between you and the original tent cover. so what happens is the heat gets trapped betweens the secondary tarp and the top of the tent and when you use your fan it pushed the heat away it creates a cooler area under where you area working. I hope this could help you, I've used this trick when at the beach and camping with natural wind and we have notice a different in temp, but never tried it in the temp that you been having. again hope this helps. Aloha and keep up the great job.

Throws 10,000$ worth of suspension at a 10 year old truck ... It's nice seeing someone actually enjoying their purchase rather than just replacing all the time. Thing is a work of art

Great video... One bit of constructive criticism. NEVER use an impact wrench on the axle nuts. Always tighten and torque to spec by hand. There are warnings on all CV axles and all wheel hub bearings against using the impact wrench. Awesome! Even the bullet proof RCV axles have the warnings. Enjoyed the show. Thanks.

Thanks! The point I really wanted to get across in this video is that any of things I did are great to do by themselves... I just went crazy and did them all. These half ton Rams are really great trucks and worth upgrading to make them even better!

Well done! It was such an impressive job. However I am wondering what happened after the alignment? how much percent approximately you sacrificed the steering softness?

Not sure what you mean? It drives great.

I always wondered. My truck, 2014 Ram 1500 2wd Express, has the Spring over Shock set up. Do you think I can simply swap the lower control arms and drill the appropriate mounting hole in the spring tower to take the Strut assembly?

What's the gearing? Curious what you are at since your turning 37's. Is your truck an 8 speed? Thanks!
@AutoEdits2 жыл бұрын
This truck has 4.56 gears and feels very sporty with the 37" tires. Fuel mileage isn't good but it only has the 5 speed transmission.

Maybe check out Eaton. They appear to have a lot of different models to choose from. Idk if they make one for the front, but if they do, your truck will be unstoppable!

@@AutoEdits I figured out the leak in my cab .Coming from the 3rd brake light in the box was making a puddle under the driver side rear seat in that storage cubby. I also took the grill off and fixed the famous headlight problem ,the connector plug is so cheap and loses connection . Small things your right . but thank you I enjoy watching your videos

I enjoyed your Ram suspension upgrade. I need your help on making a selection on parts. My 2014 Ram Laramie has 225,000 miles and I want to do a suspension upgrade. It's my daily driver and I want to do some overland updates. I'm a retired veteran and budget is a key factor. I'm not buying a new truck at 62 and I love my truck. Thank you

I absolutely love this truck. Im looking to make a "copy" for myself. One question I have is; what transfer case are you running? I know you mentioned it quick but was woindering if you could post a link for it. Is it worth having it or would a stock transfer case do? Trying to keep budget within reason if possible. Do like to Jasper engine swap, in fact wouldnt mind finding a Ram with a blown engine just so I can put a Jasper right in. Thanks.
@AutoEdits6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I love this truck as you probably can tell... It has a 4:1 transfer case out of a Jeep Rubicon and I would NOT recommend that swap. The computer is not happy about that swap and this truck has 5.13:1 differential gears and the combo is way too low. I have been extremely happy with the engine swap so far... can recommend that for sure!
