Petar Stankovic if you listen to what he said, he saluted the Audi's superior engine in terms of power/straight line performance but said that the character wasn't there when he was driving it. He didn't at any point suggest it had a inferior engine in terms of sheer performance just that it didn't feel nice to drive due to it being too rugged etc... Js..:)

Taran Jagpal I can. Because not everyone shares his feelings and his point of view of some engines "character". So the point of review is to explain how car drives, say specifications in some points and describe factual differences between the two cars like one is faster, other handles better, this one has nicer interior, this one has more storage space etc. And let the people that watch decide whether some car has "the right feel". In my opinion this was a bad review or as I called it other way - silly (tho that means not good review in this case, just used different word). And yes, I am aware that feel is the most important thing when it comes to driving experience, which has nothing to do with this review and no one gives a damn about feel of this guy above. We want to see how the cars are, as objective as possible, comparison between them, not someones "feelings".

Petar Stankovic I think he did a reasonably good job although he did sound a bit biased. What I got from his review was the Audi is clinical and uncomfortable but extremely capable while the M6 grand coupe is not as capable but more comfortable and more engaging to drive. There is much more to a car then its stats! I bought the Jaguar F Type R and am extremely happy with it although it's a sports car where these cars are big people haulers. Big, fast and brutal people haulers. It's amazing at how fast these big cars are!

As a BMW fan, it pains me a little to say that the RS7 is the better car to own. Its more practical, its more usable, Quattro AWD gives you immense traction and grip when pulling away in traffic, the interior is beautiful and exterior is good too. In fact, this generation RS7 is the last truly good looking car Audi ever made. But as an enthusiast, I would still head for the M6. It looks better to my eyes and I care more about the driving experience than practicality.

Lockheed Martin BMW Motorsport is a joke? They shit on Audi (& Merc) in DTM, which is the only series in which BM is actually involved in (not counting them selling costumer racing cars [Z4]). The main difference is that BM sticks to racing that is relevant to factory cars and they are focused on the sedan/coupe market. Yeah audi wins at Lemans but when do you see that tech in a road car? Also how can they be so good at racing and make such an array of horrible drivers cars? Yeah some RS models are good but others (most) are a complete disappointment like the RS3. Finally the only reason Audi has a "super car" is that they are owned by VW who also owns Lamborghini so they swap parts. I'm sure you know the motor in the R8 is actually from a 10yr old Gallardo. BMW on the other hand is not "owned" by any large overseeing corporation, it is independent. If I was going to buy a sedan I'd go with an M, it's what they do, its the only thing they do.

And it's also worth the money, not like the Panamera which you can option up to be just as expensive as the RS7, even in the Diesel... RWD is more fun to drive though. Audis are notorious for being nose heavy and having zero steering feel. There's no front engine Audi that can be compared to something like an M3. And I never understood AWD performance cars. OK, they are good for drag racing. But other than that, what's the point? Who is driving at 10/10ths with leaves and grease on the road? Not to mention these cars are too heavy to be fun. All that said if I had to choose I would probably go with the Audi because as you said it looks better. Which is what these cars are about. If you want a fun performance car there are better choices than 5,000lb hatchbacks.

Why dont you stick these both in some rainy or snowy conditions and tell me which car is better to drive. You've clearly never been in a 5 kilometer radius of either of these cars. First of all...more fun to drive doesn't mean sliding. It means more precision, more agility, better balance of the chassis, better reacting and feedback from the steering and suspension. Second...you've never driven a BMW so shut about how it works in show. I've owned BMW's for 13 years and never had a problem in the winter, use good winter tires and you're set. Neither of these are made for driving on snow or offroading anyway. And third, the biggest clue to your lack of any experience is saying that RS7 makes the M6 feel like a Ford Fiesta. THat is plain idiotic, because the interior of M6 feels one step up from the Audi's in every way. It's better designed, more ergonomic, nicer to look at, has better materials all around. A7 feels just like an A6 with some carbon fiber. M6 feels way more expensive inside.

The base interior of the rs7 is just as nice as the M6, but after adding options, the M6 is left with a cheap feel compared to a fully loaded rs7. Well I don't really think none of these cars is good on snow. The Audi may be a little better thanks to its quattro system, but on 21" rims and 335mm tires snow is still very difficult condition even for the Audi, which anyway remains more boring to drive. When you buy such a car, the first thing you're looking after is driving excitement, and the BMW provides more. Are you afraid of snow? Well, if you can afford a 100k BMW or Audi, then you can probably afford a second car only for winter. Like a small offroad car (such as the Panda 4x4, which is super efficient on snow) or something more luxurious if you can spend more money (like a Range Rover).

Because the m6 can beat the rs6 (dry road) and there are videos when m6's beat rs7 modells (both are tunded ofcourse, and sometimes ppl have put xdrive on the m6 and then it gets really fast!!!) The M6 might be more fun and engaging to drive, but the nice thing about the RS7 is it's a great all-rounder and offers performance that doesn't require much skill to drive in a spirited way. The M6 on the other hand requires someone that at least has taken some time to learn the necessary skills to keep it under control. The comment below is very true though, both are excellent cars and neither is really better than the other. It comes down to which one you think looks better and if you want RWD or AWD.

Easy physics comparison. The RS7 got 40:60 AWD as default and up to 70% to the front for traction. The suspension is too soft and the car itself is too heavy, the engine placed in front of the front axle and if the Quattro does shift 70% of power to the front, with all those disadvantage the car just push understeer, push understeer, push understeer again and again. Also, put too much power at the front wheel mean less chance of poweroversteer but that doesn't mean faster, coz the car doesn't have the gap to rotate through apex and turnout. On a fast track, the RS7 may be fast by better rolling start and turn out advantage. but tight track, the M6 will catch it by better engine placement, stiffer damper and better steering ratio. For me, the RS7 have insane acceleration ability but M6 is better handling. Not easier (physically) but you know what the car is trying to do.

agreed, and in someways, if I had about 100,000 pounds, I wouldn't buy either one. I know the BM has more feel but I could never really "Drive" these cars on public roads (where we spend 99.9% of our time). So ultimately you come back to how neither has good steering feel, a manual box, or a generally engaging feel. In other words, they are both so good, that they have lost what I was actually looking for in a sports car.

I love the look of both these cars but for me the squat stance of the Audi along with it's sloping back gives it the edge in the 'cool' stakes but to be honest staggering performance aside, neither of these cars look 'special' enough to justify a £100k price tag. I just don't think they have the cache to cut it in up there in that rarefied air.

Kind of weird review. The rs7 with launch mode hits 60 in 3.2 everytime everyday.. Audi has been known to have one of the most refined interiors, I like the c63s interior the most out of all the German sedans but the Audi is next.. The body is slick and beautiful. Currently drive an Audi. Used to drive a BMW, but it was switched due to the rainy weather 8 months out of the year and the BMW no longer had its warranty. Just an opinion, but I definitely miss the ride of the BMW. I couldn't wait to drive it everyday, now it's more of a from point A to point B sort of thing without much fun.

The Competition package for the M6 will bump the horsepower a bit but it needs to lose weight. Kudos to BMW for sticking to RWD, nowadays for the sake of faster times, auto manufacturers just stick in the AWD drivetrain and hope people will get over how it's less engaging. Even the CLS63 AMG is now AWD. The goal of the auto companies now seems to be looking better on paper, AWD, turbos, dual-clutch transmissions. I just hope they throw the people who drive for pleasure and not bragging rights, a bone every now and then.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I think these tests are pointless in the wet. I mean, who buys a BM to trash it in the rain? BM's advantage is the less oversteer-y chassis and suspension setup, but in the wet, this counts for nothing. It is perfectly usable in the wet, just not on the max. Basically, testing them in the wet only plays to Audi's advantage, the quattro system. Don't get me wrong, I do like the Audi but this test, in these conditions, just doesn't feel like being fair. What's next, testing the WRX STI vs 135i on the dirt track?

Dmitri Felbinger Having consistently driven both bmw's and audis(and mercedes for that matter) I have to admit that the steering geometry and feel of bmw cannot be compared to either. Having said that I'd probably buy the RS7 out of the 2. :)

Well...This is interesting. This guy is very wrong...RS7 has way better seats then the m6. The RS7 has a better feel then the m6. The RS7 has a better suspension then the m6. The road feel though the steering wheel is about the same. No disconnect at all... Ride is WAY better in the Audi.And look at this guy..Should he even be driving a car?! Do you not notice how they show him in the car driving, that he is going about 20mph..Then they show both cars going fast and cornering....And do not have a duel camera set up to show that he is driving the cars...Shows that he is not driving the cars other wise they would have set up the duel camera system. But at the same time..Every person is different and there bodies like different things...Speed, control, comfort, elegance, style and best of the best...That's what i like.

I think it's strange how BMW designs more "special feeling" interiors than the AUDI yet the AUDI is supposed to be ramming heads w the Merc when it comes to driving comfort and technology. When i see AUDI's on the highway it's obvious these cars give a lot of confidence even to an average driver, yet in a city street they're perfectly well behaved and maneuverable like Jason Statham in a tuxedo. It may not cater as much to the typical car journalist, but buyers obviously see the appeal.

Especially the new AMG does some serious understeer, the M6 as well its heavy on its front and worse to drive than the M5 and the newer RS cars in fact turn in very nice and sharp due to their active sports diff. There is no "fun" in an unnerving car which tries to kill you in every second corner when the road is wet even in fourth gear. Sorry. Nobody drives these cars on tracks only in best conditions. They are driven in the real world where other things matter. Oh and watch the latest episode of Grip where they tune these three cars, the Audi being the weakest with 680hp tuned but still faster than the 830hp AMG and even more fast than the M6 with 730hp in that test. So much about being numb, slow, terminal understeer blah blah blah.

Its the Bimmer. The 435i was even slower than the E400. What you don't understand is that driving experience does not consist of driving sideways on a racetrack only. Also watch the Video from the German Magazine "Grip" regarding three tuned cars (RS6 / M6 GC / CLS AMG). In all cases the Audi wins in terms of driving dynamics. Another small hint for you: the RS7s Time on Hockenheim Short is 1:13.4, the M6 GC did it in 1:14 flat. Facts and figures. So now show me your facts and figures. Did you even drive one of the newest gen Audis with Sports Differential ? No ? Then please...shut up, you don't know what you're talking about. Weird that every car mag exposes your prejudice against Audi as a simple tards lie. Oh and please show me the country where its purely legal to drift through corners on public streets (besides that its idiotic to do even if it would be allowed). trevor philips You're right... Audi's to have a tendency to under-steer mainly because for some weird reason, they keep building them with the engine too far forward. I was looking at a friends BMW E46 with the hood open, and the difference is clearly visible. The E46's engine was barely over the front axle and nicely tucked towards the back of the bay, which defiantly helps with balance and steering feel. Audi keeps trying to resolve the steering numbness problem with their Quattro system, and it's getting a bit better but nowhere close the feel of a BMW. I own an 08 A8L 4.2 Litre and love driving it on a daily basis and long trips. But my friends 2004 E46 was way more fun on the road even though it was way down on HP and Torque compared to the A8. If I'm not mistaking the only Audi that doesn't have the understeering problem is the R8, but that's because the engine is all the way in the back so no duh! LOL

This is nonsense, 20-30 years ago mercedes and bmw were better than audi but now it has gone further than both of them in terms of ergonomics, driving systems, design and practicality. Anybody that says against audi has probably never been driven in any of those three brands. I have and I can tell you audi is far better than any other. You don't buy a car that is this expensive just beacause it's a bit more fun to drive, you need to use it in every day life. That's why you buy audi. Because you cam use it every day, as a family car or as a fun car that's damn quick and fast but also safe as hell at the same time.

don't know about M6/RS7 but having driven both 5 series and A6 audi, i can confirm that BMW drives better on autobahn, the steering is more responsive, audi on the other hand has less cabin noise and more softer chasis. Audi interior is a tad bit better in almost all models but if its just about driving experience, true that it will be a bmw

I know its really rainy in the UK but please stop testing cars in the rain, please. :) The weather man should be able to give you a good forcast and Audi and BMW should want their cars reviewed in the dry. I understand some want real world conditions, but I want dry weather performance, I have a daily beater for bad weather. Great channel and reviews though, so don't take it as a knock. Just hate wet weather reviews.

I dont really get how is it a good thing that Bmw cars are easy to drift with. Why is that a plus? Sure if you wanna drive for fun on a track then yes it is more fun but on real highways i doubt you would want to slide, Audi on the other hand with its quattro gives yu confidence with that grip. My brother has a Bmw 5 searies 2011 and hes affraid to drive fast on highway cause the steering is so light and it feels like it has no grip, i have a old 2000 audi a4 1.8T Quattro and on the Autobahn it was raining and i knew the car has grip and felt confident cause the car never lost traction.

it has my dad drives the new RS6 and it is limited on 250kmh and i live in Bavaria>Nürnberg but its just a chip, which doesn't allow your car to get faster. U can easely take in out and TÜV won't mind about it it just the fact, that it isn't healthy for the engine. And i don't really think that u waste 100k euro for a car and have to pay again a lot for a new turbo and other important parts of your engine after a year... But it makes a lot of fan to fuck porsches with a big family car, which is even a combi XD

I own a M6 Gran Coupe, the only objection is the sticker price. I've had mine for 9 months now, yes I'm one of those early adopter idiots. Can say I've driving the shit out of it. I thought the F10 M5 was my favorite all time car (not because of exclusivity but because you have a 500+ hp car as a daily driver), do that with an MP4 or 458. The M6 GC blew me away. There are stark differences between the M5 and M6 he is also right it is a blast to drive. With launch control it moved in the high 3's (3.8-3.7) not sure where he gets the 4.2 from (he did state wet weather and leaves) so it's about the same in quickness as the Audi, that transmission is silky smooth.
