I have a 2013 gt500 with just over 700whp that I daily drive. It has been driven across the country on multiple occasions and currently has 112,000 miles. It’s incredibly reliable and hasn’t lost its wow factor when going full throttle. Not worried about the value of it because this will be one of the cars I keep. All around great car that I encourage people to experience.

Great video. Hard to add much to your comments… your take is spot on in every respect. I had a GT350 for 3 years … and after selling it, I was lucky to find my perfect ‘14 GT500 with 2900 miles two years ago. As great as the gt350 was, the gt500 is way more fun to drive. And yes super comfortable, no squeaks, rattles etc. My only gripe was the stock Goodyears that were dangerous for street driving … fixed that with Michelin PS4S all around which transformed the car completely. No plans to sell mine - I’ve owned a lot of cars and this one is truly special… guess because I am a true muscle car guy!
@autofanaticcars2 жыл бұрын
hey thanks for watching and sharing, I started this channel 4 years ago regarding the GT350 ownership because I talked about it in so many videos that the GT350 is not for everyone and a true muscle car guy really wont love it or miss it and your a good example of that. We replaced the Goodyears those tires are horrible and dangerous on the street. new tires transformed the car to be much safer to drive. I love all of these cars and it is great to own, drive, modify, service, detail and share this with everyone on this platform. I still can not believe how the GT500 is tight as a drum still and my GT350R makes so many interior noises that it drives me insane chasing them down. Also the S197 model year 2014 the paint and build quality is far superior to any S550 still to this day it seems Ford really got it right on he last model run of these cars. They should be ashamed how poorly they build the S550 from 2014-2022 the paint and fit and finish reminds me of the 1965 models.

In the future there will be 5 main cars that bring money from 1994-2022. 94/00 Cobra R, 03/04 Terminator, 12/13 Boss 302, 13 GT500 and 19/20 GT350R. In my eyes, everything else will be up or down but these 5 are the big winners. The 2013 GT500 is the last true Shelby ever made. It's the last manual GT500 and first Mustang to break 200mph. I owed a 2013 GT500 for 3 years . loved it! i traded for a 2017 GT350 back at the beginning of 2018. as much as i miss the 500, i would not trade back. i wish i could have kept both but that would mean i would need to get rid of my 65 Fastback. ( which will not ever happen) . it took me 6 months of going back n forth on IF i should make the swap. I think i watched every gt350 video on the internet. This channel helped a TON on making the final decision as well. what it was for me is really just the huge tech difference's. the S197 was extremely dated with tech inside. another reason is my wife never really cared for the 500 and never wanted to drive it, for some reason she liked the 350 a lot better and still occasionally drives it from time to time. both bad ass cars, totally different animals in every way honestly
@autofanaticcars2 жыл бұрын
the one thing that really sucks on the S197 is the lack of parking sensors and backup camera it is very easy to forget what car your in and hit something. the tech was dated for sure in that regard. they are both totally different cars for almost different purposes and driving roads I like both but if I had to choose one that would depend on my driving roads and how much I can use the car. the GT500 is more usable on my NY broken roads where as my GT350R is very rough on your entire body just cruising down the road. IRS helped with cornering and grip but Ford really could have done a much better job with ride comfort and spring and shock tuning where as the Camaro and Dodge cars are so much more livable.

I remember as a kid having a bedroom poster of this car which is one of my dream car but in white with black stripes plus this car is underrated because it's the last proper mustang of the old school era. Plus the 2013 - 2014 GT500s are really rare compared to the likes of the GT350/GT350R which you see quite alot. The 2013 - 2014 GT500 is rare because it only had a production line of 2 years. Plus the GT350/GT350R production line was from 2016 to 2020. Don't get me wrong those cars are beautiful and amazing. But i will always pick the 2013 GT500 over it plus it was the last car Carroll Shelby worked on and saw before he passed away in 2012.

You are definitely correct about people needing to respect the power, mustangs get a bad wrap because people just but them and think they’re a professional driver all of a sudden. You have to know both your limits and the cars. Like you briefly showed, you can’t just floor it out of a corner or mid corner. That being said, the older live axels are fun if you know how to properly control it. One of the last true embodiments of an old school muscle car. Wish I could afford one of those before they go for crazy money.

The 2013 I had was a modified absolute beast! The power was insane! I enjoyed driving it and it is an experience like no other. However I like lighter cars that handle the curves with ease and are just as comfortable. The GT500 was very comfortable but feels heavy and has to work hard to stop. Dont forget this is also the last manual gt500. I picked up an 07 GT500 with low miles last year and love it. I traded my 2015 S550 GT for it cause the new mustangs no longer have the raw muscle car feel. The solid axle is done so well on these and it grips way better off the line than my irs gt did. I have a 2013 GT500 with about 20k miles on it... I bought it 3 years ago with 7700 miles on it, so I've driven it. Mountain driving, too.. and everything this guy says is 100% true! It's an amazing car! I also have a 2018 Mustang GT that I use as a track car. There is very little that I like more about the GT than the GT500. The GT500 is easier to drive, easier to heel & toe downshift, and the maintenance is WAY easier. Changing the oil on the GT is always a very messy situation with that stupid little door that always gets in the way and the plastic drain plug that only turns 1/2 a turn before it's spitting oil everywhere. The GT500 is just... easier. The only thing that the GT has over it is the handling with the IRS. That's it. The GT500 is freaking FAST, and you have to do quite a lot to make a regular GT as fast. You can't just bolt on a supercharger or a turbo charger.. you have to get the cooling worked out as well... and the clutch... and the axles... all of the things that the GT500 has already. And you know what? The GT500 is arguably a better looking car.

You have nailed it. I am glad I that I wasn't the only one thinking those things. I have had a '14 GT500 triple black since new. In early '21 picked up a '20 GT350. I wasn't disappointed as it was a well mannered sports car. At that point I realized I was a die hard muscle car guy. Early '21 one of the cars had to go. It was a no brainier that the 350 would be one to go. Why are the '13 and '14 so undervalued. I suspect it will go by the way of the 69, 70 Boss 429. Compared to today up until 7-10 years ago the Boss 429 was undervalued for what it was. Look at them today one has to be a millionaire to have a Boss. To your question how many were built. Mine was 2247 of 4816 and 791 of 1656 in black. BTW the '14 is a hoot on the track. I do about 4 days a year. If it was me I would dump the R and get a '21 or 22 GT500. Some might say the new Supra is worthy, but for the most part the market says otherwise. I am a huge fan of the 2013-14, but the handling on the new GT500 can't be passed up. I agree on your definition of true muscle car. The 2013-14 is closer to the 60's GT500 than the new Shelby. Also, hard to look past the manual.

you're 100% right it's a different crowd for the GT500 and the GT350R. I have a totally different sound preference for my exhaust while they like the over the top glassy edge tone. If I could have the sound of my 93 Cobra/40 Series 2.5" Flowmasters back I would. I think 350R'ers have to have that new tech that is more like a video game player style car. Set it and forget it where in real life you have to "drive" a GT500 more and know the car to enjoy it. I love em both but my dream cars right now 2010-14 GT500,2013 BOSS 302 LeGuna Seca,2011-2014 GT/CS,and a Q50 RS400 AWD for the family. I'd also take a RAM 1500 Sport Crew Cab 4x4 for the family. The girls like power,fun,and car shows.

It’s surprising that these cars aren’t going for more. My local dealer had one up for $52k originally. A couple of months later the price was $42K. Don’t know what it ended up selling for. It looked a lot the one in your video but it was red. It had 4,200 miles on the odometer. Thought about buying it but I had no room for it in my garage. The lack of sales may have to do with the fact that only 18 percent of our population knows how to drive a manual. The 18 percent that know how to drive a stick and are Shelby fans probably prefer an S550 GT350.

yes America has become the laziest society on this planet and even worse over the last 2.5 years with nobody wanting to work or do anything anymore let alone shift gears. such a shame what happened to our culture in short time. I think all of these cars whether S197 or S550 should be enjoyed by all sorts of enthusiasts because of the manual gearboxes.

Kids of disagree. Yes the mustang is still being made but the s550 is such a visual departure from the s197 making it essentially a different car. That's the beautiful thing about mustangs every different gen looks like a different car ( s650 bing the exception) 😆

I think these cars are going to be about 10 years behind what the Terminators are doing at the moment. The Terminators had their lull moment in the mid-late 2010s, when you could pick up a clean low-mileage car in the mid $20k's, now those same cars are worth $40k. These cars might be in that area now or approaching. I don't think values will diminish much, or at all, considering that most manufacturers will not be making manual v8 sports cars much longer.
@salesposito22902 жыл бұрын
Actually, I disagree. These cars (13-14s) did their used car slump and are now on the rise. Pre-pandemic, they were dipping into the high 40s. Now you’re lucky if you can find one under 60k. For a ten year old car to be regularly selling around its original sticker price, that’s pretty strong. I’m figuring it will only get higher over the next few years for the some of the reasons you mention. Which sucks for me, because I really had my eye on getting one, but 60s is way out of my budget. The 80s-90s Japanese sports car pricing surge you’re seeing is based more on nostalgia and rarity than performance.

I think it’s mostly about handling. Shelby GT350 is the only all around driver’s car Ford has ever built. This Shelby competes with the dodge and Chevy muscle cars and will never be anything more than a drag oriented car. This Shelby does have the edge in that the engine is more legendary and reliable. Could mean GT350s hit a huge drop due to unreliable engines and these shoot up.
