If they can make a decent 1.8-2.0x anamorphic scope with a built in front variable diopter that works well on all three of these lenses, they could revolutionize things. Of course, it would have to be quite massive. Personally, I feel like focusing on auto-focus makes makes the whole system less desirable (because of the manual focus trade-offs), but it is definitely the smart business move for capturing that consumer market. Colour-matching at this price-point is already a really big deal.
@carlyates24872 жыл бұрын
But if they develop a great attachment system for the front they might eventually bring that system to their VDSLR range for the people who prefer true manual focus

I don’t see how 2.0 on a 16x9 sensor would make any sense. I’m always confused on the mathematics on it - but anything wider than 239/240 aspect is just way too wide So 1.8 even on 16x9 would be too much. IMO.
@pastamatt2 жыл бұрын
@@TheSteveKinney It's less about the final aspect ratio and more about the anamorphic look. A proper anamorphic look is 2X. If you just care about a 2.39:1 aspect ratio, feel free to crop a little off the top and bottom of your spherical lenses' 16:9 frame.

I've got the 75mm just now. The design is awesome, good weight factor and the lense feels sturdy. In hindsight on a FX30 it might have been better to go one size smaller. Same as other photography lenses with af like the 24 f.18 and sadly the 135 f1.8... Trey simply don't work on the FX6. It's almost as if Samyang has an embargo out to not test it on the FX6 because no one online speaks about the AF on a bigger body and only tests on mirrorless (And I know it's more likely to use it on a smaller budget on a a7 etc but the one mount should also work fine on the FX6)

Cine lenses with tons of focus breathing... Not surprisingly no mention of that in the video, since it wouldn't make a good sales pitch. It's very probable that Sony's breathing compensation will not apply for 3rd party lenses, hence the question - what is exactly the benefit of those lenses for cinema? What is the advantage over Sony's own lenses, which offer great image quality and have zero focus breathing, which is so important for filmmaking?
@izzieb2 жыл бұрын
The focus breathing is terrible. I think they'd be better described as lens for video work - it seems they're basically designed for easy use on a gimbal.
@nick.dakota2 жыл бұрын
The whole design concept is for gimbal and drone work. Focus breathing isn't of great concern in either of those scenarios. The "sales pitch" is same weight and size so calibration doesn't need to happen with lens changes.

I was excited about the idea of these, being able to actually switch seamlessly between autofocus and manual control with FIZ motors. But the manual focus appears to be no different from any other AF lens 🤷♂️ so what makes these any different? What benefits do they offer over the AF lenses people are already using? I cant figure it out 🤔

Don't Zeiss Batis lenses match between focal lengths? That's another similar option. While not exactly marketed as a cinema lens set, one could argue that Samyang's designs at least used to be the same as their photo lenses but with a new coating. If that's still something very important then you can pay a little extra and Zeiss will engrave the text "cine" on the lens bodies.
