12:38 The no-typing/voice-only is part of Android Auto, and I don't think it's something that GM can influence in any way (pesky rules and regulations). Also, I have noticed that, especially after some recent updates, AA doesn't have great voice recognition/activation for commands. However, you can press the mic button on the AA interface, and it will immediately prompt you for a voice command (that it will hear). So I think that's another issue that Google is going to need to smooth out in AA.
@bigdavedahl2 жыл бұрын
This is an interesting attribution issue. The voice command failures I’ve experienced on Polestar’s AA have been connectivity driven. When your cell connection is spotty, the AA voice commands suffer, which makes sense. The only annoying bit is when you’re in a dead zone for a while and come back into range. The system struggles for consistency. Otherwise, and 99% of the time, the voice commands are quick and reliable around town.
@newscoulomb37052 жыл бұрын

Other than that though, Tesla offers nothing else of value to most people, unless the person buying an EV prefers that ultra minimalistic style.

@@ProXcaliber I agree Tesla's build quality is not as good as it should be. But it's largely overblown and has improved tremendously. I had a brand new Benz before my Tesla and it had plenty of build issues which I only noticed after I heard about the Tesla issues right before I traded it in. No car is perfect but build quality is mainly cosmetic and easy to fix. I haven't seen any major Tesla recall in recent history. Toyota, GM and Ford has seen far more recalls this year alone, while Tesla fixes the recalls with an over the air update.... Tesla is choosing not add the "high tech" features you might be thinking of. GM is not designing these "high tech" options, they purchase them from a catalog. Tesla can do the same but demand is high enough that they don't need to. They are actually removing parts, i.e. Ultrasonic sensors... Legacy OEM has not been able to ramp production because they can't. Too much ICE infrastructure to convert to EV. It will take time... Look at the Mach E sales, they started production a few months after the Model Y, and don't even bother to look at GM sales, especially the Hummer. I like Caddy, but they have ways to go... Massage seats, speakers and displays every where, is not an advantage, GM is just choosing to lose money on every car they sell. Tesla isn't... Software is clearly an advantage for Tesla but the supercharger network is head and shoulders above the comp. Consumers that do their research know this and are choosing Tesla for this reasons alone. If you care more about gimmicky lights, massage seats, ect. get a Caddy or a MB...

Just got a call from the dealer I selected during my preorder. They want another 1000 down and told me there will be at least a 10000 markup in 2024 when I can possibly get mine. Just checked with Cadillac chat and they say that they are allowing dealers to charge what they want. It may be a good car, but it won't be 60k! Just received my lighting and I was treated much better by ford. I guess I will be waiting anyway I'm sure Lincoln will have something like it soon.

I love the lights. I feel like the model y and Tesla cars and a few other electric cars have lost identity simply because… they look bland. They lost that grill and it just made it look unfinished. But hey, that’s their thing. Personally I LOVE flashy things a little. I love when my car has some type of character. Also the electric Escalade is coming.

I really hope so. I like Cadillac. I'm waiting to see it in the real world in real quantities tho. GM has a habit of overpromising, underdelivering, all the while telling you not to park your car in your garage for fear of your house burning down. This behemoth of a company won't change overnight.

@@sports2hedz542 Between Hyundai and GM, LG has spent $4 billion dollars replacing batteries, including the battery in my Bolt. That kind of money has a way of focusing your attention on quality. Great video - one problem as a reservation holder from day one, the dealerships have asked for an additional $5k up front deposit on top of the $1k deposit made plus a $15k dealer markup. The price comparison to a Model Y is not accurate since I would be purchasing the car close to $80k IF we agreed to the dealers term. You might want to mention that in future videos. Thanks for the video - great work on the review.

Dam 15k markup 😢
@mamadouaziza25362 жыл бұрын
in the near future the dealerships will be no longer, you will he able to purchase directly from the manufacture via online.. The manufacture will have service centers in cities/towns. $80k is a bit too expensive for this car especially since there are no climate controls for rear passengers. For $80k to $100k might as well look into buying a BMW iX or Audi eTron if you're going electric. If going combustion, get a Range Rover for $80k.

Seems like a pretty good car from Cadillac. The inclusion of some physical buttons are definitely a plus. Looks are a little strange in the back, and I personally would prefer automakers make more sedans rather than SUVs or weird-looking crossovers. Especially for efficiency and safety, not to mention affordability. Large battery packs also use a lot more materials, which could have gone to making part of a battery for a smaller vehicle.
@josephius Жыл бұрын
I agree with what you say, but automakers won't go back to making sedans soon. People want SUVs these days, so the car companies will go wherever the demand brings them.

Good honest review. Like the details on the issues with AA. The Escalade comment was interesting. The RWD Lyriq weighs around 5,600lbs; about what an Escalade weighs now. Regarding the Sport Mode, you'll have to wait for the AWD Lyriq due in 1Q23 for something a bit quicker. Here are the Specs on the AWD from GM China: 710 Nm of torque (approx. 524 lb-ft) 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 4.9 seconds. RWD around 6.3 sec. Top speed of 210 km/h (130 mph) AWD range converted from the Chinese test data is 287 miles. AWD uses the same 100KW battery pack and that drop is similar to what you see in the Mach-e AWD variant. He did not mention that the AWD is $65K, including shipping, that it will have GM Supercruise via an OTA and you are given a $1500 allowance for either mobile charging or installing a charger at your home. Hoping that it qualifies for the new '23 EV credit of $7500 and it makes the Lyriq a really good buy.
@AnthonyS.12 жыл бұрын
The Lyriq after January 1 should qualify for the EV credit but not sure how they’ll work it into a lease. Was told by SA that it might be a prorated rebate. I really like that Cadillac didn’t make the climate control vents and other small items electronically controlled. It’s such a dumb thing to have to go into the info system to adjust air flow or open the glove box.
@leandroocastillo2 жыл бұрын
You are not getting it. It’s simple. You adjust the climate control vents to your preference ONCE and it is saved forever on your driver profile. Always there waiting for you to drive. Any of your kids or passengers can change it unless you want to. For glove box, just push the button on the steering wheel to say ‘’open the glove box’’ and works 100% of the time.

I recently bought a Kia Niro ev and it also comes with a paddle for regenerative braking. It actually has them on both sides of the steering wheel(right side to reduce the amount of regen and the left side to increase it). There are three levels the regen but the most powerful is when you pull the lever on the left. While pulling it, you can come to a complete stop.
