That key fob is a good concept ✊🏾 However, it’s too big not to include an auto-start feature, a locator feature connected to your phone, a feature to lock out anyone from using it without you knowing or even a feature to stop anyone from changing the settings. What do you think, Alex? Have you been able to find a key fob like that in your search.
@AlexAutoFun3 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael! it's size is almost identical to the BMW LCD key you get with the 7 series, it actually looks like a straight copy of it lol but I also think the size is mostly limited by the need for the new key fob to fit your old key circuit board inside and the size of the touchscreen itself. But man I do really like the ideas you propose, I can see them adding a pin code or some other locking way via the next firmware update, that definitely could be done. Even the autostart (it's no fun to install, it was so frustrating when I installed one I swore I would never done one again lol) could be done like an add on for those that want the additional option. I think if enough people request this from FitcamX it could happen. Thanks for watching and commenting bud!

@AlexAutoFun Жыл бұрын
Hi Mark ! An App would be neat! the main issue would be that the transmitter on key fobs operates in a different frequency that a smartphone can't produce. Some cars like Tesla and the new Mustang Mach-E got smart, they use Bluetooth in combination with NFC instead of the normal frequency used by key fobs to operate the car. On those cars you can use your phone as the key to operate the car, which I think is pretty awesome! Hope this helps, Cheers!

Hi Thomans! If you take a look at the SAE-J1962-2016 (the standard that controls the design parameters for the DLC) you can see that the OBD2 connector accommodates 16 contacts, you could potentially populate it with less contacts but the foot print of the connector remains the same (is also controlled by the J1962 standard). The adapter included with on the FitcamX LCD remote (with the comfort function is only meant for OBD2 ports. @@AlexAutoFun Hey just a quick question, can I (with the right DIY kit) use this to autostart a fire truck when we got in? Note fire trucks do not have keys they (usually) have push buttons with a backup power switch.
@AlexAutoFun3 жыл бұрын
@@christopherhowson7383 Hi Christopher! if they sell a kit to autostart fire trucks remotely then yes this smart key fob could potentially take that remote (assuming it fits inside the case) and active the remote start switch for you. That being said, based on what I saw in the mfg industry of fire related devices, I probably would not recommend it for life critical applications where on demand performance is required, typical devices used in this application have several redundancies and require long development times to ensure they always function (cost goes up as well). Now if it's a Fire Truck used for parades and other non emergency services, yeah but go for it, that would probably make a really cool video too, seeing a Fire Truck start remotely! Hope that makes sense and thanks for watching!

Hi Alex, you didn’t share your opinion regarding the obd part being always connected to the car to benefit from keyless entry option. Any drawbacks to this based on your experience? Thanks!
@AlexAutoFun11 ай бұрын
Hi Ahmed! I have not experienced any issues with it so far (but I will update this comment if something changes) But I'm glad you asked, I have made a follow up video explaining the OBD2 adapter in more detail, here you go kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4eYm4Slq9SUeas Cheers!

Thanks Alex for your prompt response as always. Would be great if you share how long have you been using the key, and if you have the obd always connected. I’m in the process of purchasing one specifically for the keyless entry option, but to be honest, I went for the CF920 as I liked it’s design and shape more. Thanks again for coming back.

Hi Ahmed! Since 2021, I also have the newer X-900 shown here kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2qXl3mdjdd9e7s regarding the OBD2 adapter, I only use it on my old car that does not have auto lock and unlock, on newer cars where this is an option from factory there is no need to use it. Cheers!@@AhmedKalei
@AhmedKalei11 ай бұрын
Thanks Alex. So you have the OBD always connected to your old car, correct? Did this affect the car battery or anything else negatively?
@AlexAutoFun11 ай бұрын
You're welcome Ahmed! The OBD2 adapter is a low power consumption device. But even low power draw devices can eventually drain a car battery. Now how long will it take for it to happen will depend on the car's battery, size, age, health condition and state of charge. In addition to that you also want to take in consideration any parasitic draw from other items on the vehicle that use power when the car is off. This is specially common on newer vehicles. For example I have an older Jeep that can sits for months a time with little to no battery draw, then I have a 2017 car that will almost completely drain my battery in a few weeks if the car is not used (mind you that car does not have any aftermarket devices connected to it). And here is the battery tester I use kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXSxo5mXbbeIgbc if you want to test your battery for capacity and health, it can also perform a parasitic draw test if needed. Cheers!@@AhmedKalei

Hello. I have a BMW e90, the ignition is started by button, but the car don't have key less go. I still need to insert the key in the specific hole to start the engine. I can't use this smart key, or don't? Thank you!
@AlexAutoFun Жыл бұрын
Hi Roman! Correct, unfortunately if your BMW needs you to insert your original key fob into the dash for the car to work, then the LCD Key Fob won't likely work for you since it probably won't fit in the dash correctly like the old one did. Hope this helps, Cheers!

@AlexAutoFun Жыл бұрын
Hi LilGats! it should be able to, the smart LCD remote just presses the button for you (electronically) regardless of the button function (the smart remote doesn't know what the button activates or does, it just knows that it has to activate whatever button you have pressed on the touchscreen on the physical button of your old key fob) However also check out the X-900 where they added more support for automating the remote start built in on your car kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2qXl3mdjdd9e7s Hope this helps, Cheers!

Do I understand correctly.... Auto lock and unlock works even if my car is just keyless start/stop and NOT also keyless entry...correct? Does auto lock/unlock proximity work only with installed OBD connector?
@AlexAutoFun Жыл бұрын
Hi! Correct, the auto lock and unlock works with all cars that have an existing remote than can lock or unlock your car (Keyless and Normal Key) And yes also on the second, the OBD2 proximity sensor is needed if you want to use the comfort function. Hope this helps, Cheers!

Sir, Is there a device to check car key for signal to see if it is faulty or the receiver(s) are faulty for unlock and trunk open? I don’t wanna be screwed by dealer. I have low income.
@AlexAutoFun Жыл бұрын
Hi SMART ASSIST! Yes there are two ways this can be tested, one would be using this amzn.to/3nAHJxZ to test the remote control to see if it works. The second way is to check the actual car with a scanner like this one kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipqvgoynrLCkbKM or this one kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6qVYoepqMh0lcU to see if the issue is on the car's side. What about the safety of copying the frequency of the key
@AlexAutoFun3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sadd! There is no copying the frequency or programming required since the contents of your original key are transferred to the inside of the LCD keyfob so the car thinks it's still the original remote controlling it. Hope this makes sense and thanks for watching bud!

Hi, what if I have a compustar auto starter not on factory key if installed will the start function still work on this fob but using chip of factory key ? Also does it need the obd port ? I think I seem other company no obd attachment don't think
@AlexAutoFun3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin! I'm not familiar with the compustar auto starter but sounds like you have two key fobs, your regular one and the remote starter one. In that case only one remote will fit inside the LCD fob, so you have to choose between the oem remote or the remote starter remote. Regarding the OBD port, it only needs the adapter if you want to enable the comfort system (locking and unlocking doors automatically). Otherwise it is not needed. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
