I was an early adopter of this product on my Mica black metallic Mazdaspeed 3. This product works, when finished, you basically had to know where the chip was before and look at it real close in the right light to see where the chip was. The repair seemed tougher than the original paint and I never had a chip appear again in the same spot. I now purchase a kit for every car I own.

this stuff really works. As stated above, it doesn't fill the chip- ie: it would be flush with your exiting paint. However, for those annoying and inevitable stone chips that occur, this stuff is incredible-- AND DURABLE! I first started using this product 3 years ago. Not only have I never needed to refill a previous treated chip, none of the chips I've treated have ever rusted (I live in western, NY, where we have harsh winters and use road salt), one kit has been more than enough sealant and paint for 3 years worth of chips, and the pain still works beautifully! This is one of the few products that does what it claims! ohhh and the color match is perfect!

Just tried it for the first time - I like it. There's a knack to removing just the right amount of paint - obviously if you rub for long enough, it ALL comes off. Just used this kit now, the Squeegee blade Kit, squeegee is useless it will take the paint right off, i tried 5 different times, impossible to get good results. So then tried using my thumb, this had better results, but not sure if the paint was mixed too thin, but it did not do a good job of "sitting" in the small and medium chips. The best results i had was with these tiny little brushes you get with a super small "fuzzy" Q-Tip. These worked best because you could dab paint next to chip and "roll" the brush over chip. Then let it dry.. 4mins 26c outside. EVERY TIME the chip was still visible. The colour, for my horrible to find paint for the new Mazda CX5 "Soul Crystal Red" (that will be a extra 1,000 Euros also please , says Mr Mazda sales man) the Dr Chip color in pot and on brush looked to match really well, but again, once on and once removed the over paint, the chip was not smooth. Even in this video when it zooms in, you can still, pretty clearly see chips underneath. Summary: IT works well to cover the base layer after you get a chip, you will have a extra layer of protection that should be good enough against rust. The formula that wipes of access is great, you only get/end up with paint in the chip. Overall 6/10 Not bad, but not very good either. BUT Better than nothing (which what Mazda offered me, "uses 3 layers of paint process, blah blah blah, get used to the chips buddy, its how all the paint is made on new cars now) thats what they told me!

These guys are kidding you. This is the old "Duco" lacquer we sprayed on cars in the 1960s. The Sealact is just Duco thinners with something white added to it to make it look wonderfully mysterious. Duco thinners will not affect the water paint on new cars or acrylic. The products they sale don't tell you openly what it is. Unfortunately, motor vehicle paint stores no longer carry this paint. Let me add a tip..maybe you should try this. After the car is clean, degreased and clay barred - THEN do the chips before compound, polish and micro-polish Why ? I have found that you get a very good blend when you do it this way so it looks less like corrected chips and more like uniform paint. I did this on my car and you cant even see where there are corrections....if you really hunt, close up, with a light and point it out specifically to someone, they might see it but otherwise, done.
@mrrobvs6 жыл бұрын
If you do it last, after polishing, do you anticipate that it will dull the panel in any way? Your tip is a good one. Their directions say to do it in a different order, one that involves doing everything else, then dr. colorchip, then wax. I'm about to do a ceramic coating. My plan of attack was going to be clean, clay (etc.), dr. colorchip, polish, ceramic. I wasn't concerned as much with uniformity of results like you were, but was concerned with it taking the surrounding area to a less than ideal shine. What are your thoughts?
@DougnutJR6 жыл бұрын
I found that the "sealact" leaves behind kind of a haze, so it's helpful to have a detail spray to follow up with the paint procedure. I do think it's a good idea to do the dr colorchip procedure BEFORE compound and polishing because the compound and polish will also polish the colorchip repaired spot making the whole area more uniform.
@mrrobvs6 жыл бұрын
I'm not impressed by this product. Before doing any detail work I hit a spot that I knew I'd have to hit again. When I hit it the next week (before even using Sealact) my brush and/or squeezee pulled the old touchup paint out of the spot WAAY TOO easily. Like touching up your car with watercolor.
@evanodder69485 жыл бұрын

It depends on the color too. For white this works surprisingly good. For metallic black (like my car) it colors your chip but don't expect the chip to look seamless. It'll be harder to find for people who don't know where the chip is, but you'll see it. I'd give it a good review, it does what intended, at no point it's marketed to "fill" your chips. Unless, that is, that you take your time to go about half a dozen times over the same chip. You'll fill it in pretty neatly but it'll take a lot more product.

@autogeek2 жыл бұрын
Chips that are allowed to go untreated often begin to rust, and you will see the exposed rust in the chip. You can get a rust converter at most auto parts stores or even at a home supply store and using one of our microbrushes can carefully apply the rust converter to the rusted chip. Be careful not to get the rust converter on the clearcoat around the perimeter of the chip as that can haze the clearcoat. You can then use the Dr. ColorChip Touchup kit to fill the chips creating a moisture barrier to prevent further spread of the rust.
@Charkatak2 жыл бұрын
@@autogeek I see. If I understood you correctly, I can either clean the rust (a surface rust in my case) then apply touch up paint OR if that is not possible then using rust converter which will contain the rust and then paint over the chip. It does show some surface rust as well. Thank you, this information should be enough to tackle to problem!

and what kind of paints the sealact remove acrylic urethane?
@alfrancishernandez45532 жыл бұрын
I just wasted my money on this. I just purchased this hoping to fix the chips in my car. I purchase the Squirt ‘n Squeegee™ Plus Kit and Dr. ColorPrep Panel Cleaner, I followed every steps but whenever I used the SealAct it removes all the paint including the one in the chip. I tried waiting for 1 hr, 4 hrs and overnight but still the paint comes off. I tried rubbing gently or using a q-tip but still fails.

Probably user error. You need to prep the panel real good otherwise the paint wont stick. Wash, claybar, and panel prep chemical and it should stick for sure.

Being in FL, can you use this in direct sun?

Yes just be aware that the touch up paint will dry faster. Practice really does make perfect. See my article here, www.autogeekonline.net/forum/how-articles/83526-how-use-dr-colorchip-paint-chip-repair-systems.html -Mike Phillips

Please do a demo on a car not piece of a car on a flat surface. I can’t get it to work because of gravity.

so I have a color accurate display and I can see a distinct difference in color and can still see the black under the chips, you may want to consider making a new demo video because as it stands this was not convincing me to buy the product, if anything it demonstrates how the product wont work for its purpose... I am hoping that during the full curing process that the color will match up better... ^^;;
@chrism66034 жыл бұрын
FLR works the same but the process is better. He spent 3 minutes wiping 1 stone chip.

anyone use other paint with the seal act, does it work?
@paullinos8204 жыл бұрын
It did not work well for me. The base color is too liquid and it is very difficult to spread and fill the holes is. The Sealact take the paint out very easy so you have to repeat the process several times. I end using spray paint

Smh. I kills me they touched up a solid color. I want to see a silver or a pearl white. Please show a harder color to do. Thank you
