Been owning X7 LCI for over a year and the car is just fantastic. The harmony of the silky six engine's smooth acceleration and simultaneous growl is very satisfying. The only downsides are the somewhat unreliable telematics system and the tires that needed replacing after only 18,000 kilometers at a cost of $3500.

I knew the X5 would be your pick of the range based on your personality (mine too) and that the XM would be your least favourite. Objectively, the XM is the most powerful BMW yet. Interestingly though, it seems power is not everything -- even for BMW enthusiasts. The X2 is the slowest selling model in the USA while the XM is the 3rd slowest selling despite the hefty price tag. Which seems to make sense in a world where over-the-top cars like the Tesla Cybertruck and Hummer EV exist. @2:59:12 It's 2024!
@unowen-nh9ov8 ай бұрын
You miss the point, because BMW share platforms & drivetrains EVERY unit $old is profit on R&D budget that has already been spent, so lower volume vehicle$ like X2 & XM are more halo cars as they are about volume. BMW have been selling coupes since last century even though they are never volume sellers, ditto Z8 & M1, image cars for their bread & butter volume sellers like 3er, which itself has become global model range, so even if sedan sales are down X3 is bestseller, all on same capital co$t & hardware. This is how BMW have been able to expand for 60 years & now can invest BILLION$ in EV & do it all over again.
@davidnjuguna94778 ай бұрын
@unowen-nh9ov What point was missed? My point was that XM outperforms the X2 in sales despite being a much more expensive vehicle; meaning people are willing to spend big money on a car like that. However, this is only for the USA. My comment was from the consumer point of view, not from BMW's point of view.

Why would anyone buy the X3 now. The X1 offers almost same interior space and I often confuse the X1 with the X3 when I see it in person, as it looks just as big. I dont see any advantage with the X3 as it stands today might as well save some change and go for the X1. And who really cares if its FWD or transverse mounted engine, and if I really care about performance and handling, this body shape is not really for that with the CG so high. I would look at the brilliant 340i or the m5 if at all.

Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. I also bought cars with animal skin leather seats before I did my research and got to know the industry. The most important thing is: With today's modern materials, you have nothing to lose, just to gain. You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment. You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. The classic approach is using oil/plastic as source material. Overall, a vehicle contains about 300 kg plastic. A car seat needs about 5 kg plastic. So the overall plastic share for the seats is very low and it is at this moment the most efficient way to produce a car seat. A couple of litres of fuel equals a car seat basically. So if you want to save oil/plastic, rather look at consumption for energy, fuel and heating and to other car parts than the seat. Note that animal skin leather also always contains a plastic coating for durability. However, long-term we should of course find raw oil alternatives. So going further, seats can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even increased share of plant-based materials (like pine oil, canola oil or start-up materials like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum, so be seen at kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWLEf42bpMano6c). On a calculation base, by ditching animal skin leather from car interiors, the amount of emissions (CO2e) is reduced by 85 (!) % (www.press.bmwgroup.com/africa-dom-easteurope/article/detail/T0403389EN/on-the-market-from-2023:-bmw-and-mini-models-with-vegan-interiors?language=en) - and that is a very conservative calculation. So it is at this moment the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable. A good example for high-end luxury with ventilated animal free seats is the BMW X7 with Sensafin: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6G1f56NbtOlqNk And the Kia EV9 with plant-based oil share: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKe7loOHnsSAd80 New leatherette materials can be superior in every aspect, even for cleaning: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2qXiouAbJeIiqM More and more natural materials are rising: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIO2pIt7o9x7etE Also check out what the animal skin leather industry tried to with our channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIHCdKmCocZ5oqs For seeing how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpzNdHSjppaSbqc Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally. Also a group of researchers and German journalists from public media could recent directly trace the connection between car animal leather production and illegal burning down Amazon rain forest: www.daserste.de/information/reportage-dokumentation/ard-story/videos/illegales-leder-video-100.html In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat is the "first" misuse case, the hide remains a profitable body part. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you demand it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and harms the environment, you make them more profitable. Alternatively, you could support industries with your wallet which try to improve the sustainability of materials. Also, if you turn the argument around to "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize that it doesn't make sense (and is ethically doubtful) to discuss the primary use of individual body parts of mammals. Mind experiment: You are getting slain down on the street; would it matter to you if it was for your smartphone or for your purse? Remember that animal skin leather is no different to fur, fur is just leather where the hair is still on. And fur is widely not accepted for clothing anymore, and of course not for cars. We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future. For a great insight into sustainability in the automotive industry, you can also check out our extensive documentary: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2nKf4uih6yhnaM

Leather is natural and biodegradable. Man made materials will always have toxins and are almost impossible to biodegrade. While reducing CO2 is good, is it worth it to raise diseases and the cancer percentage. we humans are the ones dying from all these chemicals in man made materials. Saving cows is fine and all. But we shouldn’t let the materials go to waste because the truth is man will always be a meat eater. All the suggestions to said all have to be held together by a chemical, the color has to be dyed by a chemical, the protector to keep it lasting for years is a chemical. The smell to make it smell like a new car or fake leather a chemical. Maybe instead of making more man made toxic trash, those companies in the slaughterhouse should be held accountable for the mistreatment. We would rather keep poisoning ourselves than to address the problem. You have a lot of suggestions and while that would save animals, it would create more toxicity than what we have already. Canola oil is literally harming people that use it and you want us to sit on a material made from it every day? And pine oil which I’m assuming you are talking about the Turpentine while organic, you must know organic doesn’t not mean natural, organic in any form like food or material does not mean chemicals free. It just means reduced pesticides. But the chemicals are still there. And if you want to go plant based materials then we will by buying inferior product at the same premium price, because you know the car industry will never pass that savings to the customer even with cheaper materials. Leather is the lesser of the evils. It is the byproduct of what man has been eating since the dawn of time. What needs to change is man’s respect for the animals that provide for us. Not some clown riding around in canola oil seats.

How can a car of the size of the x5 offer so little leg room in the 2nd row that no adult would want to go on a road trip with you….
@chriszee8146 ай бұрын
I have a x5 and yes the leg room sucks cause it’s basically a taller 5 series.
