This is by far the most detailed and best review of the new Seat Ibiza so far (in English). Really nice review! I've watched it from the beginning till the end. I have ordered the Seat Ibiza FR 85kW (115hp). I ordered it with the default 17" wheels, but I could still change it to 18". What would you advise? Do you think the handling and thing like bumps in the roads are worse with the 18" rims? Thanks in advance! Note: it's a shame that the 17" black rims are not an option for the FR. These are only optional on the Xcellence.
@AdityaJayaram7 жыл бұрын
Hi Tweak Er great to hear about your new car, congratulations from Autogefuehl :D The suspension on the FR is already a bit stiffer and lower than the other variants.. However, i didn't feel that it ever got too uncomfortable. the streets in and around Barcelona are really smooth for the most part, so it would also depend on where you live.. while the 18" wheel looks nice and big, take a look at the rear wheel.. the disk brake and caliper are really small. all that empty space might look a bit odd 01:39 ...though a larger rim generally offers slightly sharper handling thanks to smaller sidewall, i dont think for a 115hp car it would really make a difference.. in the end, i think you should decide if the extra money is worth it.. -AJ
@tweaker32617 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply AJ! I live in the Netherlands where the roads are pretty good. Sometimes I visit Belgium, the roads are really bad there, so for visiting Belgium 17" would probably be better. I think the 18" wheels look a lot better then the light grey 17" ones, but they also come with a price. I think I will choose comfort over beauty so I will play it safe and choose the 17" wheels. They don't look that bad after all.
@AdityaJayaram7 жыл бұрын
they certainly dont look bad. and at first glance, its hard to notice the difference between 17" and 18" wheels. only you will have a heightened perception since you know the size.
@gordonbennett60577 жыл бұрын
I agree with Aditya, the 18" are more money just to give a perceived idea that you look better? The new Ibiza FR looks nice already from the outside, why firm up the ride further, on a car to be used on the Public Road? Very good Review by the way Aditya, with good camera views looking forward through the windscreen - many thanks. Kind regards.

Good review AJ. Keep up the good work.... I have 3 cars... VW Passat, BMW 5 series and Audi A3 (all less than 3 yrs old). I do like the refinement of VW group cars.... But was never a fan of Seat as I don't see the point (They sell VW on refinement, Skoda on value and Audi on luxury/sportiness.... what do they need Seat for?)..... But, this is the first Seat I would be interested in buying, purely on the looks. It looks sick, especially with the Ferrari like alloys on the review car.

Seat basically gives you a more sporty and stylish option than VW (actually i think the leon looks and drives better than even the A3) while often beeing extremely good value and sometimes undercutting skoda price-wise. of course the interiour does not stand up to Audi standards but hey you can safe a lot of money if you are okay with some hard plastic.

Thank for a very good, comprehensive review with a focus that fit into the grownup frame of reference. I've been driving a Seat Leon FR (gasoline) DSG 2009 model since it was new, and I love that car! But it has 265K km on it, and I know I'll be replacing it soon. I would like to scale down from the 200 hp/280 nm engine while still maintaining the fun-factor of driving. I have owned two seats since I like the feeling of getting the most bang for your buck while still owning af V.A.G. car, and I think the Seat Ibiza FR might very well be my next car. Seems I would get a very nice car with all the advances made in the last 10 years; not just the fancy electronics which are nice, but not really necessary, but most importantly with all the advances in engine technology and safety.

Fake exhausts look nice,they finish the rear of the car beautifully. And they allow the real exhausts to be cheaper or even cheap. (I don't know the price of the rear muffler) So, It's a clever design in my opinion. Plus they'll never have carbon build up on them, so they'll stay like new for a very long time.
@KonstantinosDouros6 жыл бұрын
I think fake exhausts are perfectly fine because they look cool and clean all the time. If they were real they would turn black soon. They are also better because producers can put the real exhausts under the rear bumper and reduce pedestrians burn danger. I can't see why many reviewers like carwow don't like them.

Hey Aj or anyone, please help me with this stupid question As far as i know. Camshafts are the one whos controlling Valves in and out, right? In miller cycle, when piston goes up doing compression's phases, intake valve slightly open and let some of air out. The duration/lift/timing of that opening makes start of compression's phase into variably, thats why its called variable compression ratio. Am i right so far? Then the question is. Who was controlling that intake valve? I mean, what trigers them to open during compression's phase? Thanks for your reply. Appreciated
@OsirisPL7 жыл бұрын
The 1.5 150KM doesn't get the VGT or Miller-cycle. Those weird features are only present in the 130KM variant. 150KM variant however gets questionable aluminium cyliders sprayed with very thin layer of steel instead of classic steel sleeves as in any other VW engine. Unfortunately both of them get cylinder deactivation. So no matter which variant you choose - there are a lot of gimmicks to fail ;)

@giorgospapaspyros41837 жыл бұрын
You cannot expect it to happen simultaneously., it all depends on their manufacture scheduling for which I have no specific information other than the official confirmations. As such, they surely already know when, perhaps this should come earlier or later, after all this is what they have planned so. In 2018 you should expect that the virtual cockpit will be available widely across SEAT range, including the Ibiza. This has been confirmed.

I imidiatly contact my dealer if it's possible to change my ordered ibiza. Next day he call me that it's possible. I think if I had not ordered alcantara I had bad luck, because it was available from november. That was the reason my car was still not in production. Now I has to wait a month or two longer, but I hope it is worth it. My dealer was thinking I'm the first one in my country who gets a 1.5 tsi ibiza ^^. Now I need to be patience. But I'm not :s

I still like this car. Had the 1.5 tsi full options for 1,5 year. At the end of 2018 the new mazda 3 was presented and I liked that design so much. So I have trade in my ibiza. Big mistake. The 3 is a nice, premium car, but I have so much issues with it. Every few months I can go back to the dealer to fix problems. Thougt mazda was a good brand. This 3 is clearly not. 18k km's on it now and so much shit. Tommorow I need to bring it back for some dash rattlings. They need to take the whole dashboard out for the second time to fix it again. My ibiza has 40k km's on it and no single issue. The quality is way better then modern mazda's.

Hi, good overview, thank for that, nice description of 1.5 technical details. A question regarding comparing the 1.4 and 1.5 engines: did you recognise some delay in the response of 1.4 (the old one) 150 TSI with DSG at low speeds. E.g. ~20 KM/H, when you turn into a street at the corner, you step of the gas pedal, you feel nothing for 2 seconds, then after 2 seconds the power comes suddenly, not in a smooth way. It is not the delay of the turbo, which is understandable, but delay when nothing happens. Did you feel it with 1.4 as well? If yes, did you feel the difference with 1.5 engine? You mentioned this variable turbo way of working, does it mean, that the power comes earlier and smoother? Thanks in advance!

Regarding the fake exhausts, that is probably the only negative thing I can say about the car. Sure, Mercedes does it aswell, but that doesn't really make it any better. Fake exhausts really show its pathetic self during the colder months of the year when you'll be seeing fumes coming out from UNDER the car, and only from one side for that matter. It will feel almost embarassing.

Autogefühl thx for your reply. I ve seen both Videos and looked the Ibiza Fr today. Tomorrow i will Look the Fiesta. Which Car was more Fun to Drive? I saw some people mentioned the Navigation in the Fiesta was unprecise. Can you das something about it? Did the screen of the Fiesta really gets damn hot?
@autogefuehl7 жыл бұрын
I ll drive the Ibiza again this week and can tell you more about that comparison then
@Aenkor19827 жыл бұрын
Drove both. The Fiesta St Line is BY FAR higher quality in interior and overall quality. I bought the Fiesta. The Ibiza in comparison is too cheap inside for the price.

Nice looking car,the onley thing i do not like is the exhaust layout.
@JeanV19866 жыл бұрын
Very nice little hatch. I just hate that fake exhaust pipe fashion. It really looks ridiculous (not only on this car). The only car on which it did look great was the 8th generation Honda Civic, because it was so well integrated in the design.

Bad idea to allow no subtitles option. Beside that, very high-quality review, just like the other one (comparison between 95, 115, and FR 115) on the channel.

For new reviews since a year or so, we do offer manually created subtitles! Plus we have language channels in several languages with specific language subtitles

OK. Actually, automatic subtitles in English are very good. In this video, the automatic ones were disabled.@@autogefuehl

Thank you for your attention, The video is still without captions however. Maybe some technical issue with this specifical video; in every case, I have watched it and got what you said already ;). I will add another piece of feedback since you take note of them. There are countries or parts of countries (I write this from one such, Southern Italy) where roads are like you would imagine a road will get if it is bombed from military aviation. There are bumps and large holes which you probably can't imagine, I mean, you probably meet one once in a while but you meet one every 30 or 60 seconds here. This means that some vehicles will behave very different than they do on regular potholes and bumps you usually have to deal with. In the case of a 17"-wheels FR Ibiza, on every such large hole it will deliver to the spine of the car's occupants what is equal to a strong man's punch, every time. This is hard to detect if the car is tested on a normal road, where it will smooth irregularities very well. This is important not just for comfort, but because it will make the car an impossible buy for people of every age who have back health issues, and for people aged 60 or 70+ anyway. Such people will have to sell the car shortly after they have got it, if they buy it without first doing a careful test drive. It can be a big, big issue. There are other cars whose ride is close to the Ibiza's on ordinary potholes and bumps, but who are going to be two or three times as absorbing and comfortable as the Ibiza on the extra-ordinary broken spots of road. So ordinary ride doesn't tell us what will happen out of ordinary conditions with a vehicle. What I want to say is, you could also test every vehicle on extraordinary holes and bumps (which are ordinary for a % of your viewers, depending where they live), and report on how well or not well the car does on those. Thank you very much. @@autogefuehl

Really nice review but I've missed an analysis of the new Beats audio System (Extra) that I think your demo car had. Otherwise, this video was completely useful for me! Good work! :D

Every other review of 1.5 EVO TSI said that it will have VTG and Atkinson cycle in the future Bluemotion 130hp version and this 150hp engine is just a stroked 1.4 TSI. Now which is true?
@mladenstefanov2947 жыл бұрын
Yep even VW doesn't say anything about Variable Geometry and Miller cycle... www.volkswagen-media-services.com/en/detailpage/-/detail/Golf-with-new-15-TSI1-engine-now-available-to-order/view/4814733/7a5bbec13158edd433c6630f5ac445da?p_p_auth=alNsqUO3 QUOTE - Another variant of the 1.5 TSI with 96 kW / 130 PS3 and additional technical highlights will be available in the middle of the year.
