@@autogefuehl I picked up my 2008 GT Line up yesterday - I LOVE IT!
@stuartselkirk75817 жыл бұрын
Have had my 2008 1.2 puretech 130 bhp gt line for 2 weeks, having previously had the Feline 1.6 diesel 115 bhp for almost 4 years. I have to say I really enjoyed the diesel and was reluctant to change but just loved the facelifted version. I ordered the 1.2 gt line without test driving and was not prepared for just how good this little engine is. It is amazing, very quiet, powerful and at idle so quiet I thought the engine had stopped and, early days yet, but it is returning 46.2mpg on mainly short local journeys. I would recommend this car to anyone thinking of purchasing. It is smooth, comfortable and easy to drive with plenty of room for most families. The infotainment system is much improved over the previous model, but the ridiculous cup holders are still the same, useless!

I am 1.86 m in length, my wife is 1.58 m. We have been driving our Peugeot 208 for three years and about 60.000 km. All in all the best car I have ever had. Strong performance (92 hp Diesel), great suspension, comfortable seats, very low fuel consumption, reliable, good build quality, perfect seating position for me and my wife. We like the i cockpit very much. My wife and I sit in a relaxed, comfortable position, I as a relatively tall driver have plenty of space for my legs and at the same time a free and unhindered view on the dials. My wife also can find a perfect seating position, she also can see the instruments fully, due to adjustment of the driver's seat and steering wheel (both horizontal and vertical). It's good that Peugeot continues using the i cockpit also for future cars.

I recently bought a 2018 GT line 130 in red and am loving it. My wife has a Seat Arona FR 115 which is an equally good car, albeit slightly less power (although I think Seat scores slightly more points all round). I have been in the Peugeot 208, & personally I was fine with the i-cockpit I could see all the dials, however I can see why some people find it blocks part of the dials, hopefully the i-cockpit 2.0 debuting in the Pug 3008 will be better, I agree with Thomas, the facelift has given the 2008 a much stronger look. I would still pick the Peugeot 308 if I had the money though.

I have been driving my 2008 Feline since 2013 and, like you Thomas, am also 6' 1" I have the steering wheel at it's highest position and have no trouble at all seeing all the dials completely, even the reset buttons at the bottom are fully visible. You also seemed to have reservations about the quality of some of the switches. On my car I have not found this to be the case, they are all quite solid and have a quality feel. The car itself is excellent. It is great to drive, quiet and comfortable and very spacious, easily fitting all the luggage required for a holiday trip away. The 1.6l diesel engine is great for motorway long hauls, even in 6th gear it pulls well for overtaking but drop down to 5th and it really gets a move on. My gripes with the car are the infotainmet system, it is not very intuitive, I have still not got the hang of making a telephone call on the move!! Also the usb ports and the 12v socket are impossible to use if there are cans or cups in the holders. Bad design flaw there!! Want to try the 1.2l 130bhp petrol engine for my next purchase. Will definitely be getting the facelifted version, it looks so much more imposing.

In the Volkswagen up! I adjusted the steering wheel as it was comfortable for me, when I tested the facelift version recently. The problem was, that I couldn't see the upper half of the instruments anymore. They were hidden behind the steering wheel. So I was forced to drive in a very uncomfortable position if I wanted to see how fast I was going. The same situation by the way in the Polo. In addition to that a horizontal adjustment of the steering is missing in the up! In my Peugeot 208 I have a very comfortable seating position and I can see the instruments fully. The same is true with my wife. I am 1.86 m, my wife 1.58 m in length.

Great review. You're so tall, that car seems like 208 not 2008. I'm 1.85 and it actually feels like a small SUV. I've bought this car (the allure not gt-line) with all the extra options, petrol and automatic (I'm also lazy). I would prefer a used Mazda CX-5 on the same price, but wife liked the 2008 and I prefer using my bike instead of driving a car. So, we got this. It's a very nice car, but tbh I would prefer a bigger and used SUV that this. But for city driving is great. Also in the back I have two Joie 360 GT baby seats and they fit fine. I wish I had more boot. The German version doesn't have a spare wheel under the boot, but PSA provides free road service while the car is under warranty. The fuel consumption for the 1.2 petrol is great. Panoramic roof with the ambient light is also fantastic. The IVI isn't that great and sometimes is sluggish (e.g. maps zoom in/out). I would expect from a car made in 2018 to have a fast and responsive HMI, but sadly this is not the case. Also, I hate that the footrest (on automatic) is not metallic or another waterproof material. The visibility is nice. I'm a cyclist and I know that's important. I live in Berlin and I'm driving the car I have a good visibility and I can see easier the knucklehead cyclist that for some reason don't like to ride bicycle lanes.

Overall it is an agile city car, fun to drive, however there is really little space for an adult in the backseats for longer travelling. Therefore next time I will again look one size up of the Peugeot or Renault family. All the best and keep going.

Thanks for continuing to produce great reviews - I have been researching a small 4x4 car to purchase as we like going to the beach (issues with getting stuck in sand). There are very few for us to consider (also want automatic), having watched a few of your reviews, you mention the Citroen / Peugeot off road settings, but cannot find you ever testing ? can you get down to the beach in one and show us if they are any use at all :-)
@autogefuehl6 жыл бұрын
Well they are front wheel drive so there is not much with offroad stuff. If the sand is not too deep and not too loose you ll be fine anyway
@OldPortsmouth6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply - I understand the car/s are front wheel drive, but you review the off road selector, but are not showing what it does to whatever level that may be. I would expect as it is fitted it should do something, it would help us make an informed choice if a review showed what it does rather than just tell us it’s there?

Great review! I'm searching for a crossover for myself and two kids (9 and 6 years). Being rather tall for a woman, I often feel uncomfortable behind the steering wheel of small cars (especially legs and knees). But bigger car means bigger price tag. I really like the Seat Ateca but it's a little out my price range... That leaves me with the Peugeot 2008 and the Opel Mokka X. This reviews seems to give me good advice: you can go with the smaller car, even when you're tall you'll be comfortably seated and in the back there's enough space for the kids. You'll still be able to enjoy the ride (and I would go with the petrol 130 hp :-) ). Thanks Thomas!

what is a better choice - Seat Leon Style 150 HP or Peugeot 2008 130 HP? price... nearly the same
@autogefuehl8 жыл бұрын
+Precipice go for the leon
@christianschumacher66898 жыл бұрын
Precipice I have just configurated both cars with the German prices. With petrol engines between 110 hp (Peugeot 2008) and 115 hp (Seat Leon) and a very similar trim level (Allure/Style plus some extras like panoramic roof, DAB and navigation system etc.) I found out the following prices: Peugeot 2008 for 23000 € Seat Leon for 25250 € So it's not a small differnce in price. Other than that these cars belong to different segments (small SUV/compact car). For a compact car the Leon indeed has a very good value for price ratio. And it looks much sportier and more elegant. The Peugeot has possibly an advantage through its trunk. It's easier to access. And finally your personal taste and preferences decide. I personally don't like SUVs in general, because I think they waste resources (higher fuel consumption, heavier, need more parking space etc.) As a person who likes Peugeot cars I want to recommend you the 308, too. It's a direct competitor of the Leon. I would be interested to hear what you have decided. The Leon is definitely a really good car!

Good question. The CX3 has more style to me and better engines, not sure if it was smaller on the inside.
@georgezervos7268 жыл бұрын
i think that CX3 is a true SportsUtilityVehicle and Peugeot is a "fake" SUV - more crossover. But my feeling of the more basic version is that Peugeot is better in terms of quality, space and everyday use. And Mazda is much more expensive 2k-3k vs Peugeot. Very good reviews btw. i think the most unbiased reviews in the web and leave everyone the choice to see whats best for them

Tested one recently. The the feel of the car was fine, just couldn't quite figure out the esg automatic gearing, which sort of ruined the drive for me. I think if you are soft on the accelerator you won't get that "lurch" as the car changes gears. You do get a lot of car for your money though. I should of tried out the manual. Would also have a problem with my kids in the back seats, rather cramped. Made the mistake of test driving the 3008. Recalculated my budget and have now ordered one:-)

I have a critic :-) As you sit in the back of the car, you told us it would suit for children. But this is not corect. Children need also a childseed and then they sit a little bit higher. And, for example, a 5 or 6 year old child can't put his feed under the drivers or codrivers seed. You need a space between front and back of shoe with size of 45 (minimum). I tested and scale it at the son of my girlfriend. And it goes.

Mohamed El-Arini 4 Wheel drive would ne stupid. This car is aimed for the city. Less wight. Better consumption. And people who really go into the mud buy Other cars anyway
