Today a very special one for you, guys. Enjoy the marvelous shots! Autogefühl trivia for today: - In the latter part, you hear an instructor talking on the radio. That is the voice of famous racing driver Bernd Schneider, record DTM champion - The Cavansite Blue car appears black here in that light but is a little more blue for the human eye =) - Yes, the Race Start mode now automatically starts when hammering the brakes and then pushing the throttle, check it out at the start of the Autobahn riding part, you dont have to hold the shifting pedals anymore in a strange way and then confirm it - But with the shifting pedals you can activate the so called drift mode now to put the car into rear-wheel-drive only mode, as drifting is not possible that well due to the AWD, even when in Racemode and ESP off. /Thomas

Exactly, AMG knows how to create a well balanced car. For the price, it’s about as good as it gets. Lexus, Acura, BMW, Genesis, Audi (a glorified Volkswagen) just can’t compare to this. It’s a luxury sedan that can become an insane sports car at the push of a button. I avoided “teenagering” my car with the night package and carbon fibre. The carbon ceramic brakes are cool, but for 13 grand, you really don’t need them. The standard brakes are amazing. You’re right about the seats. I got the base comfort seats (in brown with wood trim) and they are fabulous. The massages are great. I just wish they’d adopt the power seat styling of the late 80s Chrysler New Yorkers and Fifth Avenues. They’re the easiest to use and came in soft, plush velvet. So comfortable. It’s a luxury car. It should be comfortable. You don’t pay over 6 figures to make your chiropractor rich. Hard leather never screamed luxury.

As always, a great detailed Review - Autogefuhl is the best. I think I prefer the grill & style of the E43. But with E63 you never lack power - an adrenalin rush, certainly! Love the noise, and the way the gearbox works. It's great and we're so lucky that manufacturers refine and offer us this 'power-with-comfort' - but the purchase cost is so very big! I just ordered a 2018 E43, actually arriving in June, I wanted a 550 , no longer available, just got rid of a 2014 CLS 550, which I loved, could've gotten a 18 CLS but body is changing for 19 and it's a 6 cylinder hybrid, not for me, AMG New body CLS is gonna be crazy money, I drove the E43 and fell in love, I watched this video cause I know the 63 is insane, overkill for me, I'm in New York no autobahn or racetrack around, just the Meadow brook parkway in traffic, not to mention the LIE , can't wait for it to come

i think this car is a real hybrid between luxury and sportscar, just take the soundproof windows+burmester sounds and the lightsystem and make the chiptunning..comfort mode with windows closed for driving your mother in the city, back on the road sports+ with windows open...dont know if any other car can give you this kind of feeling from both worlds..real nice car for every day and mode. good review by the way :)

Undeniably very nice, I'm still not sold on Mercedes exterior styling but it does look better in dark colours. S/E class interiors are nice and I particularly like this one you used. Some of the finishing solutions used in the rear could've been better such as the exposed latches with the seats folded but it's relatively small issues. Standing start in launch control was impressive.

Fantastic review as always Thomas! I really want to love this car and add it to my garage as a more practical option alongside my C63S Coupe, but that rear-end just doesn't do it for me. The front is appropriately aggressive but the back looks too 'standard' for a car with such power and potential. I'll still reserve judgment for when I can see it in the flesh though.

Love the interior, love the wheels, love the sound. I agree some of the tech options are over-complex, and I'm not sure if 612bhp is really necessary, or even useful (in the UK at least), but it is a very desirable and capable car. However you could say the same for the regular E-Class versions which are much cheaper and just as comfortable, but no so outrageously powerful. I think the E43 would be more than enough for most people, however this car is a great show piece to sit at the top of the range. Now that Audi (RS6) and Mercedes (E63) both come with AWD as standard, I wonder if this will influence BMW to offer an X-Drive option on their next generation of M5...?

Yes, the Diamond grill of the 43 is my preference too, but the 63s is the ultimate beast. In Australia our luxury car tax, and distance from Europe, will see this retail at $250,000 Aussie dollars (~180,000 Euro) before on-road costs, so a mighty stretch for all but the very few. Makes the E43 seem a bargain by comparison. Great review. Really enjoy your insights.

10:30 yeah youre right but in my opinion your seatposition isnt good aswell. Your arms doesnt even have space to move nicely. You cant build up force and stability like that. your wrist should be at the top of your steering wheel, when you stretch them... not at the front end of your car....

Hello Thomas. Well what a beautiful Mercedes E63s and I think the best I have ever seen in Black. I’m with you with the more chrome the better on a black car. My AMG C43 is 4 matic and love the extra safety it offers. Definitely would not buy a Mercedes v8 with out 4 matic. I’m hoping the new C63 will have 4 matic when it comes out soon I hope. I should have taken your advise when I purchased my new C43 as it has the sport seats and very hard. So I bought a foam seat cover and fixed the problem immediately. Great advise regarding the steering wheel position, I have been driving for 20 years with the steering wheel close to the dashboard and someone mentioned to me that this was wrong so I changed it and now have it all the way out and it is so much better, as it also forced me to adjust the seats correctly, no more back pain and as you mention much more control. Perhaps you could do a video on how to adjust seats, wheel etc. AJ could help for people who (like me) are not as tall as you Thomas. I am 5.10 or 178 for those who don't subscribe :-)

Thomas, I have to confess, I have watched your review of this car 3 times. Your reviews are excellent and honest. I currently drive a 2014 E63 S AMG 4matic and it is about as good as it gets. When this car became available, I was most interested in replacing my current car, until I saw it was only a tiny 4 liter v8. :( As we americans say, "there is no replacement for displacement!" My 5.5 V8 liter can easily be driven to 900 hp at the wheels with after market mods that are readily available and still be everyday drivable whereas this tiny little 4 liter is stretched already to get 612 hp. Tough choice for me as my vehicle already has most of the features available on this vehicle without the over engineering you mention. Now to my point. Be careful what you advise about driving position in relationship to the steering wheel which contains the airbag. I am a safety engineer, among other things, and getting to close to the steering wheel may increase the hazard associated with airbag deployment in an accident. I agree, being close to the steering wheel gives you more control, but at the price of reducing safety because of modern safety features in cars. IMO. Most of those who purchase this car (because of the cost to own) will have minimal driving skills and therefor need good solid advice from someone like you. An intermediate position to the steering wheel will likely be the best advice for all but the most aggressive drivers. Just saying.

Autogefühl 🇺🇸👍🏻👍🏻 I have discovered your lovely channel. Watched a few of your videos. Quite informative. I have a few Porsches, cayenne S, 911S and GT3RS. But I noticed Mercedes has the latest LED intelligence system than Porsche. Seem like Porsche has to do some catch up. Night headlights are important. Now I'm older lol.. need more lights for night driving. Just a month ago, I drove my Challenger Hellcat on freeway at night. Did not realized I was over 100mph, I drove over a piece of tire on freeway. Cost me some damage on the front spoiler damage. You My hellcat has HID lights but for some reason. I wish the headlight beam light further on the road. I may of have time to slow down...

I don't get how the tip could possibly interfere. Whatever the reason, I'd rather look at plain pipes rather than fake exhaust tips.
