100% who ever works as interior material selection NEEDS TO GO! F20 2011 dash was soft rubber on the bottom, vs x2 2024 is hard stretch plastic! Glove box is stupidly small too unacceptable for family long range trip car

In my opinion with ambient lighting you shouldn't see the light source it self. It should be hidden so that you just see the light reflecting on other materials. Polestar does this really well in a way that feels premium. BMW on the other hand looks like a clown with these big slabs of plastic light panels on this X3 and the new 5-series.

the inside part of the rear light do shut down after a while, has been like this also for the previous generation, I guess it's an energy saving thing. The light is perfectly working if you open the door again or activate the daytime running lights again

My iX2 also has numerous issues with the central screen. Oh, by the way, my other car, BMW i4 was declared non-conforming right after delivery, even though it was brand new, i drove 2000km with it and I have never seen it again. It’s been nothing but problems. BMW is definitely heading in the wrong direction.

It's nice to see a 3.0l 6 cylinder engine. EU and it's draconian emission and mandatory useless tech laws are killing the car industry in my opinion. To much tech and engine restrictions tech makes todays cars unreliable and boring in my opinion, and we can't just go down the EV route, it's simply not feasible, you got to give people the choice to choose between I.C.E, Hybrid, Plug in Hybrid and EV. Keep up the good work Thomas and Mrs Thomas.

In 2000 I bought an E46 BMW 330i. I took it to 250km/hr with the same ease you did with the X3. It's sad that 24 years and turbo charging hasn't done much. The interior of the X3 is the most kitch, hideous, and budget looking interior I think I have ever seen. The dash looks like a childs tv game rather than a luxury German vehicle. The Asians don't want BMW's any more and I suspect Europeans feel the same. Maybe if rich ten year olds are allowed to drive, BMW will be saved.

Canceled order after visiting dealer - interior is nice in 50% of places - seats / leather dash. But than disgusting in other 50% - door plastic/ door fake plastic leather on armrest / plastic door handle / no alum door skid plates / completely sad at the back with NO ambient light! / cheaper dash board lower plastic section with plastic glovebox / 50% too tiny glovebox. Drove me crazy in just 30min test drive

I’m a huge BMW fan but am not a big fan of this new monolithic design strategy. I thought BMW was supposed to be the sporty brand but sporty cars are supposed to be curvy, arrow like designs that slip through the air with style and grace - bricks don’t do that. They seem to be focussing on horsepower to try and keep the sportiness but power isn’t everything- beauty and grace has to come into it. They may still have a sporty drive like a BMW should have but they don’t look like a sporty BMW should. I’m finding the curves on Audis more appealing there’s days (and I’m a huge BMW fan remember). They can do great looking SUVs - the X5 is gorgeous - but the more recent monolithic designs are making SUVs and saloons more box like…

To be fair the AMG GLC 43 is a lot more money, especially in Midnight trim which is over £88K in the UK. However I am buying the Mercedes AMG GLC 43 Midnight spec, graphite matt paint, superb to drive even with the 4 pot engine and a great looking car, especially compared to the BMW! (Even though, I know the BMW has more desirable engine - but looks just too ugly!)

Not a fan of the front design, especially of the headlights. Whereas the rear design, especially from the side view, is more classic X3. Good, that they follow same design with not putting the low bass speakers into the front doors :) Interior design, especially front panel for me its quite bulky. P.S. This type of gear selector my wife hates, because its not comfortable with a bit longer nails :D

Yep, keeping my fully loaded 2017 G01 X3 30D. Very quiet for a diesel engine and frugal compared to petrol. 620Nm of torque is handy. So far faultless. BMW Australia's sole company owned dealership's trade-in offer at only 40,000 Km suggests 77% depreciation. Ouch!

Hi Thomas! I’m watching you from Austria even though I’m not Austrian 😁. I want to ask you a question. I’ve test driven a 520d over the weekend and the noise in the cabin is loudest than my current F11 and F15 that I had. Measured with a phone app there is a 9db difference (66 for F11 and 75db for g60 at 140 km/h) Would you consider including such a measuring cabin noise as part of your tests? I know it will not be scientific (dependant on road surface, tyres, weather etc) but it will still give a ball park figure… What was your impression when testing the 5 series in comparison to your everyday car?

I see nothing here that would convince me to buy this in front of a 3 Series or a Volvo XC60, even if I usually am not a fan of small and compact SUVs. If you wanna buy me off with an SUV, usually you should either offer me a 7-seater (Volvo XC90) or high off-road capabilities (Nissan X-Trail, Toyota Landcruiser). But anyways, I don't see this much different than the previous X3s. It seems like the X3 peaked in Gen1 and that's it. The rivals seem much better, more affordable and with more space inside. This opinion of mine might be controversial, but I have never liked BMW SUVs of any kind. They have always had good coupes, sedans and eatates, I would rather buy BMWs in those segments.
