Customer feedback for Audi: I don’t need a third screen, I hate high gloss plastic, physical buttons are so much better and safer. Spend the money on interior quality materials like in the previous Audi models, not on fancy stuff. Good job on the exterior design, I love it!

it's wild that people have been complaining about piano black since the a6 came out 7 years ago in 2018 And now a whole bunch of new Audi's are coming with the exact same problem, but even worse than before (before it was just mostly on the dashboard, now its the dashboard + center console)

@@beewh001 Slightly disagree-- they should have ditched it by now. The criticism of piano black plastics goes pretty far back. Despite automotive design/manufacturing lifecycle being long, Audi has had plenty of time to listen to critics and make changes-- especially to such a minor cosmetic part. To use it now with new products was an explicit decision. In my opinion, they're using it as a cheap marketing trick-- piano black looks great in ad photos and in the showroom. It's to sucker lease buyers-- not people who have to live with it long-term.

Here is my feedback! Im a Audi driver so just Audi feedback. 1. I want to have back real buttons, specifically A/C and other buttons I need constant. I need a stress free environment and to ”fight” to make basic adjustments will give more stress! 2. Please Audi get rid of the high gloss finish! Its bad! Just bad! 3. I want at least the option to opt for leather interior/alcantara. 4. The new steering wheel is ugly! I prefer the older design with rounded center section of the steering wheel!

Our family used to own Audis for more than 10 years (from q5 2009 to q8). However, I am very upset to see the interiors of new Audi models (like A5 or Q5). I think Audi completely lost their identity (in terms of interiors), as they abandoned a lot of their industry leading features - thanks for mentioning this as well Thomas! Right now their interior is not far from other Chinese manufactures with their shiny bright screen only and glossy interiors. I hope they will reconsider their strategy and make their interiors more cosy and stop using cheaper materials in the future generations. We are not idiots and we can notice when manufacturers trying to minimise costs. Good video as usual! P.S. Audi, please stop using such a weird fabric material (or learn from Volvo how to implement it correctly).

Customer feedback for both: put back the old buttons for the climate control unit with the heating/cooled seats. Using your climate with choice commands is not good when other passengers are in the car, or when you are using your hands free. It is unnecessary and money spent on something that is trying to fix something that worked and you broke it. Put some felt in the door bins. Make the infotainment screen neutral between the driver and passage, so that both can operated. Stop increasing wheel sizes - it's just eating space on the inside, raising road noise and suspension harshness, raising tire prices, looks stupid when the discs are smaller than the wheel cavity. Put elongated visors for side sun protection, and a small front visor when the big one is on the side. Make your cars premium again. I want a premium car, with luxury stuff, with small touches here and there, small things that make big difference. Something that looks it's been thought. Not tech, not screens, no touch buttons, not funny stuff like farting seats, this is not a toy, not a Tesla. It's a premuim car. For Audi: no gloss black. Put real buttons, not those joke piano black haptic feedback one push trash. No passenger needs a second screen, they all have smartphones. Put a magnetic holder instead. Stop squishing the sneering wheel - this is not a race car, that you do not let go of the wheel to go lock to lock. The moment you do that and you get confused which side is up, or down. You have to look it, not by feel - just like the climate control buttons (screens). For the BMW: make it more lighter inside, more brightness on the speedo.

This shows how far Audi have fallen; the interior looks straight out of a Golf..such an average quality, no comparison to the interiors of old. Audi also need to ditch this drive for the silver vents in all their front ends, it's ruining the aesthetic. Never though i'd say that the beaver toothed front end of the BMW looks better. Clearly the bean counters are now in full control at Audi, ruining a once prestige brand. They’ve spent too much time and money of the stupid matrix headlight animations. Time to get back to basics for Audi, if it's not too late to do that.

The b9.5 a4/a5 actually had more piano black than this new generation, it was all over the dash and centre console if you specced it. In the new one they at least have some fabric on the dash and some nice aluminum inserts and the doors curve nicely into the dash unlike the old gen where the door is just flat against the side of the dash. Aside from the steering wheel I really don’t see where specifically you see average or worse than before quality. I own a 2018 a4 and this new car looks like the same quality.

I live in Switzerland. The weather is different behind every tunnel. Apart from that, that's just one part. Things that you have to operate regularly without looking should have haptic feedback. Voice control usually works great, but on the one hand it increases the operating time tenfold and you always have to interrupt your phone call, your favorite music or the peace and quiet that these vehicles should offer. This is a massive downgrade that simply doesn't feel like premium. With Tesla, it was a clever stopgap solution. The Germans thought it was a feature.

For me, with Audis budget they should be getting their designs perfect. Think of the early B8 days, they had world famous designers work on the A5. Where is that intent? If brands like Maserati can excel on design and interior quality, Audi should not be making these errors and then saying they will just correct them for the B10.5s. That shows their only focus are the lease customers who are going to ditch these B10s in a couple years.

I read all previous comments, seems most people hate the new A5 interior more than they do with the BMW giant grille. I owned a B9 A5 Cab like Thomas before I have my current G20 330i, the A5 did provide better steering feedback while BMW created a dead zone within 30 degrees of turning at low speed, hope they corrected this fault in this 4GC. Mult-link in the front does provide more comfortable feeling than MacPhason set up, but it is cosy to replace. However, the B48 engine does give you more driving sensation then the EA888. P.S Can you give Alea a microphone? I can't hear her. She looks gorgeous in leather pants and thigh-high boots as a co-driver.

Audi’s decision makers seem to be on a suicide mission! As an former A5 coupe owner, the new range offers me absolutely nothing of interest, only an ocean of bland! They killed the TT & the R8 also, but for me the new interiors are dreadful, the fabric seats and panels in a vehicle at this price point is a disgrace & major step backwards for a brand previously renowned for quality interiors! Clearly the volumes of their former sporty 2 door range may not have been huge relatively speaking but these customers have, in the main, gone, in my case to Mercedes! Wake up Audi, read the room in terms of customer feedback!

When testing rear legroom, do you deactivate the "easy access" function (the one that moves the seat back a bit for easier access of front passengers) on the front electric seats? Maybe that function is one reason why it seems the legroom in the back seats is shrinking on newer cars you are reviewing. Audi FeedBack: The Digital gauge design isn’t great, a bit boring. I wish they would have more design options, more interesting classic RPM dial designs. I believe It would be a simple upgrade to the computer and Audi customers will appreciate it. Especially for the S-Lines and S models.
@jerrynovotnik6 күн бұрын
Very interestring! Now the question is if the A5 engines with mhev have better shifting and fuel consumption. Or maybe the S5 is the drivetrain to go for? Then apart from the cheap interior it would be perfect.

The “Valcona” Nappa leather seats are crazy expensive in the new A5. Almost 7000€!! And you only get Nappa leather on the seats and the armrest. No leather on the door panels/dashboard/glovebox...

How does the passenger airbag in the A5 work?
@josefv-y8m6 күн бұрын
It is in front of the passenger, but you cannot see it...Audi would not tolerate that you can see anything bellow the Slush-Skin. Other OEMs do not care and you see the position of the Airbag.

This is the one I was waiting for! Amazing review, Thomas-just the comparison we wanted to hear. Very objective! I also love the idea of incorporating a lady's perspective from the passenger seat. I own the 2019 A5 Sportback (so we have a similar taste :) ) and I feel that the new generation of the car has lost its aggressiveness in design and unique sporty look. This one looks good, but bland, designed to please everybody (though I understand it’s an A4 successor). As for the interior-it doesn’t have that “take me for a drive” moment. I’m leaning more towards BMW for my next car now (either the 3 or 4 Series). Can you notice any differences between these two in driving, and what would you recommend?
@autogefuehl6 күн бұрын
thanks m8! In driving 3 and 4 are very similar. What I like with the 4 is the fastback opening, the frameless doors ( you can get in and out of tight parking spaces with remotely lowering/putting up the windows with the key fob ), only problem we faced here as explained is this stuck door effect for a few seconds in very very cold climate
@nikolasavic4506 күн бұрын
@@autogefuehl So you basicaly love the 4 more? Actually, I never thought about the idea that lowering the windows could help in tight parking spaces. These unique perspectives make people love your work!

Just recently I did also check new A5 at the dealership and I was shocked that I am not able anymore to have map view in drivers display. This is sucha downgrade. I always like to have audio navigation in front of me and on the main screen I use waze. Not anymore in A5. Also not possible to have waze in drivers display screen. From now on only arrows. Also the trunk compare to old A4 is less practical. In new A5 there is missing spare wheel and the lid inside the trunk is now fixed as there is the battery. Also the left and right side lids in trunk are not possible to open as in older model. I was using it a lot as emergency space. Space in the rear is also step back. Now it will be hard to go again with audi. Also the price is higher.

Oddly enough, I don't mind gloss black plastic. However, I think that Audi's interior dash and infotainment layout is so awkward the way all of the parts fit together. The parting lines, the way the various elements interact with each other. It all looks a bit sloppy. Especially the gloss black trim that extends from the passenger display surround and underlines the shelf the infotainment sits on, which carries through to the driver's door airvent.
@YamiSorei7 күн бұрын
I preffer 4 series. I agree that front grill is better on the Audi but 4 series interior looks nicer. And there is less capacitive buttons (on wheel or doors) and no piano black. But this probably because that 4 series is older generation car, and newer BMW product like 5 series or X3 are crap as all modern cars.

I definitely love the look of matte paints on vehicles. However, in everyday use, they aren't great. You basically need to get a full matte ppf wrap to protect it properly. Save the thousands for the paint, and just put the matte ppf wrap on the regular paint. It will look basically the same.

@bobs_sa84806 күн бұрын
Goodness it really is literally just that front grill on the 4 series letting it down, sort it out BMW! That Audi interior super disappointing, fabric should be nowhere near this segment/price-point of car. And yes physical AC controls all the way; not just better to use but it was always a nice chance for some additional design.

BMW feedback: I have an i4 for 2 years now, really love it. Only thing I am afraid for, this will be my last BMW. Drove the newer i5 which was letting me down. It is so ugly in comparison with its predecessor. You can see the cost cutting also with the newer X3. Actually I am surprised with the BYD Sealion which looks so much better in the interior for way less money.

Both models out-price a VW Tuareg in the presented configurations. For the sake of the comparison I would pick the BMW juuuuust because of the better engine and the fact that it comes in with more goodies from the get-go. One thing I would like to know, in the Audi, if the passenger is using the display to watch a KZbin clip and there's already music playing on the speakers, which sound will play in the car?

I find the LED animations distracting and tacky. It adds nothing of value. Audi should focus on getting the basic stuff right before adding extra features nobody asked for.

Hi and thanks again for the videos! I love both cars. I would personally take home the BMW. Even though it has some elements which I'm not a huge fan of or I prefer in the Audi. I like the rear lights more in the Audi. Not a huge fan of the frameless doors. I prefer the design of the front screen in the Audi and the passenger screen. That gloss though... Reminds me of Mercedes. Looks and feels cheap. Overall, I would be happy with both!

I also agree that the Audi steering wheel looks & feels cheap. Older models put it to shame. Plus, the front grill doesn’t have an exciting look. The previous A5 had a bit more sharper edges and made it more interesting. That being said, it does feel like they made a big leap forward.

We see a curious change of positions: Audi making the best interiors now become really poor, and BMW making the best exteriors lacking behind Audi. New Audi design is great, pity the interiors are so bad. BMW inside is awesome. Another problem of new Audis is the engine choice. Both A5 and Q5 are having max 204 bhp for a pure ICE engine. At least they should have kept the 2.0 tfsi 265. S5/SQ5 is crazy expensive, the only good thing is that they are petrol now.

Not a fan of the new A5 look overall. The light bar at the back doesn't fit at all. The previous A5 sportback looked much better. Would honestly take the BMW even with the beaver (as long as it's blacked out). Seen them on the road with extended shadownline and they look really cool. Not really pretty, but aggressive.

Just step into a 2025 Passat after being inside an A5 and you will start asking yourself if VAG is losing interest in selling Audi models... it is priced correctly though, at least the entry level versions. At the dealership they made me an offer that undercut a base 4 series (420i) by almost 10k euros. The BMW feels way better inside, and the engine/transmission are great by comparison, but does it justify the (much) higher price tag?
