I am extremely disappointed. This car is 3 to 5 years late to the market and feels incredibly outdated. Its battery is too small for its size- even the smaller Peugeot e-208 offers a larger capacity. There is no compelling reason for anyone to choose this car over its competitors, especially at that price point. Ford's presence in Europe as a carmaker is ending, and I say this as a satisfied owner of the last-gen Ford Fiesta.

So it's based on the Fiesta platform, which was already 3 generations old. The only reason the ICE Puma is Ford's best selling model is because it's the only Ford model left in Europe which people can still (almost) afford. Ford Europe died when they killed off the Fiesta and the Focus. The Mustang/Mach E cars are mega flops, and rightly so.

Thank you for the first preview I have seen. At the moment in our family we run a ten year old Ford C Max. It is a terrible car on some measures but when you put everything down it will fit the dogs, an e-bike, and the recycling rubbish when we need it to. Second hand it cost £10k two years ago. A version of this new Puma might well replace it but without all the fancy options on the car reviewed and certainly not at €37k. An alternative we have looked at is the Mazda MX30 R EV which works for us because almost all journeys will be on EV with home charging, with the safety net of knowing we can use petrol if we need the range. I think this Puma could be useful if the spec and leasing price is right.

Euro Fords made sense when they were cheap and cheerful. European-spec Fords have never been exceptional cars-they weren’t terrible, but they were far from inspiring. They typically handled well, but you couldn’t shake the feeling that you were getting something second-rate. Ford’s real strength has always been in larger, more powerful vehicles, not the scaled-down models designed for Europe. Since the introduction of the Model Y in 1932, Europe has been offered smaller, less impressive versions of what Ford could truly deliver, and that lingering sense of compromise was always on my mind when owning a Ford in Europe. At 40k, however, this makes no sense. It’s still an undersized, Euro-spec Ford with all the usual drawbacks-but now at a premium price. Why not just get a BYD?

It's a decent car but I think it already looks dated and similar to products Ford were churning out 5-10 years ago. The price however is the biggest problem, it's far too expensive. 40K for a car that you can't fit an adult in the back of and with nothing else of particular note is not going to be saved by a box in the boot. Other than loyalty to the brand, I can't see a rational reason why someone would choose this over the competition.
@timscott302719 сағат бұрын
He got in behind himself just about and he's 6.2, you could probably fit 4 6 foot or under in fairly easily. It could be more spacious but it's not terrible. Pricing hasn't been released yet but they will need to price it around £25k -30k to compete. Not many people would be willing to spend 40 grand on this car with such a low range. As a local run around with occasional long trips this would work well for many though. Despite 40kwh the charge speed is quick which is more useful for people with no home charging.

On the Puma topic, I really do not like the front end, specially when I compare it to the ICE version (or with my FIESTA St Line Facelift), it just does not look right, what do you think? I really don't get FORD, they just gave up on ICE vehicles and started producing EVs that are not that competitive. I see people buying the facelifted ICE Puma, but not this tbh, maybe leasing like you said? But still, we are not talking about a little sub brand. Ford seems to be going downhill and it makes me kinda sad, and I whish I went back to the good old days when the FOCUS, FIESTAS and MONDEOS were though out...
