this is the one that I had used on my own car. A good kit that helped me reduce 2 large scratches on my rear bumper.

Why do we sell this as a whole kit? In our research into who buys these kits and why, often customers fell into the "distress purchase" category - they are buying this because they have got a scratch and want to fix it. We also found out that a scratch is the sort of damage that will make non-detailing people want to take action. Unlike fallout or tar spots, which some people may not see, or if they see it not be concerned - a scratch is enough for most people to take action. So, the people who may be buying this kit, may not have anything else they need to remove it - hence the complete kit approach. Car Care can be confusing enough, this is designed to take the thinking out of it. With standalone products there is the question of which applicator, which cloth and so on - and while it may be simple to some of us, to those who have no experience it can be quite intimidating. Why is SRP provided? To bring up the rest of the car as there is just one super shiny area? Yes, it is in the kit to give an even finish to the whole car - again fitting with our findings that people who buy these often have no other car care products. If the scratch remover compound is used correctly there will be one shiny area. There should be no need to polish over that same area after, although it will not matter if you so. The scratch remover compound has no fillers in it, so that people can see the effect the compound is actually having, and not just masking it. Why only a 30 second work time? The diminishing abrasives in the compound will break down in 30 seconds. Apply firmly for 15 seconds to cut, then 15 seconds lightly to polish and restore gloss. Continuing to apply the same paste on the pad will not result in more cut, need to apply more and repeat. As you worked the area for 10 minutes, was this 20 applications of paste, or the same one worked for 10 mins? If the latter then the 9.5 mins at the end will not have had any real effect of the section. Can you apply with a machine? No - hand use only, a machine will break down the abrasives far too quickly and it will become a polishing compound before it has had a chance to remove the scratch. In the same way that some machine applied compounds cannot really be used by hand, as the speed and power of the machine is required to get the abrasives working and broken down correctly, the abrasives in this have been selected for hand use only. The finger nail test comment in your follow up video is a good one, we do include this test in our how to use video (not sure if you watched that as part of your mega test prep?) but it is absent from the label copy. Thank you for taking the time to comment! I totally get the reasoning for the kit, it makes sense, but what I don't think makes sense is that you don't sell just the remover separately as well. You are cutting out a good number of people (those who do know what they're doing). I think a good option would be to offer both a standalone bottle and a kit. With regards to 30 seconds work time, yes I did 20 lots, and nearly burnt through the whole bottle 🤣 (This is referred to in the megatest video). I had to be fair, I had to give 10 minutes total work time as that is what the other products had, and didn't want to "undercut" by doing less time. The comment snipers would be all over a mistake like that!🤣 A few people have asked me to followup doing various tests and one was for the ones that do allow use on a machine to be revisited to see if there is any improvement again. But as I say this will only be the ones that expressly state it to be recommended. As for future tests I'm sure there will be many more to come, and if we have AG in there I'll give you a shout! That's an interesting one to finish with... I think as a stand alone scratch remover, there's too much hazing left which would need filled / polished out, compared with the G3 one - It's still getting my vote. I think perhaps as a system, particularly to people who aren't like us, just want an off the shelf product to remove/reduce a few scratches and improve the overall appearance, then this kit would be very appealing, and in all fairness, very effective! Quite a few surprises in this test, I knew G3 would do well from experience but it's exceeded my expectations, Meguiars up there as expected and the supermarket cheap options performed as expected (as in you might as well have used toothpaste!) but the biggest disappointment for me was the TW one. Seems strange for a brand with their reputation to release something that is so ineffective 😕 Brilliant test Dave, can't wait to see the round-up tomorrow 👌🏼👏🏼👍🏼

Which polish do you think will give a more suitable and better glossy finish without hardly any holograms if applying by hand foam applicator working it for a little? It is for light-scratch removal that doesn't have any fillers and glaze? Maybe Sonax perfect finsih? Sonax 03-06? or Koch M3.02? I don't know

3.02 is mega, but I do find a machine is by far quicker with it.

@@r.k862 Koch chemistry m3.02 is a great product, but... I only use it via machine. Because it is so fine grade I can't imagine application by hand being a quick job.

That is ultimately the problem. Fine to do a kit, it helps some I'm sure, but at least sell the abrasive separate as well.

Not strictly the test and I explained that. SRP is a massive filler, so it might look good for a while, but will ultimately be removed by washing. In the final megatest tomorrow I only judge them after an IPA wipedown to remove any masking, this was a test of true ability to remove scratches. 👍

They would never retain their market share with the enormous amount of scene brands that have emerged in the last 10 years.

@@DetailingandtheBeast I think Autoglym are counting on their previous reputation which to be fair was pretty good, but now with a growing detailing scene the alternatives as Dave has shown can be a better and cheaper option. If you look at packaging and its prominence in stores such as Halfords, the average shopper will be swayed,luckily there are sites like this to educate people just starting out.
