This band landed the opening act for Van Halen's 1984 Tour, despite having no record contract, no radio single, and without ever playing a live show anywhere together. They debuted as a complete unknown in front of 20,000 in Jacksonville Florida. Their drummer became jogging partners with David Lee Roth while they were working on a demo, Roth got ahold of the demo and loved it, invited the band to come on the tour.

This was our jam, back in the day. 1985, I believe it was. And we did, in fact, turn up the Radio. They had another song on this album that was pretty cool too - "Blonds In Black Cars."

Miami Vice was really notable for it' use of contemporary music in the show. I was watching a rerun of the show that had this in it. I had forgotten about it. Downloaded it immediately. There are a few songs that compete for the quintessential 80s song. This is one of them.

My first time hearing this song/band. Great!! I would love to have heard this in a club to dance or as a driving song. Loved it!!

When this song was big, a rock radio station in Rochester New York used this as their theme song, and edited it to repeat, "Turn up....the radio, the radio, the radio" then would announce their call letters as normal. It was cool to drive through there at that time. This song would play at the roller skate rink, it's slightly faster and would be a good pace for someone trying to race. The sound is called 80's Hair Band, Def Leppard being one of the best known.

The band coincidently decided to call themselves Autograph because the bands lead singer loved Photograph by Def Leppard. Most bands in the 80's followed the blueprint Def Leppard set with Pyromania.

Hey Harri! Have you heard Sammy Hagar : "Heavy Metal"? He was post-Montrose and pre-VanHalen. Awesome in his own right. Saw him on the Three Lock Box tour, circa 1980. Beginning of hair metal bands. Excellent tune!! You might want to look up Sammy prior to VanHalen. Favorite album of his "Standing Hampton". Whole album = major awesomeness.🤘

Yes, they were for sure influenced by Def Leppard, at least according to Wikipedia, which points out that the name for the band was influenced by hearing the DL song "Photograph".
