Autohelm 4000 and ST4000 Lever Installation

How did you remove the old lever? I can't get the roll pin out. HEEEEELLLLPPPP

Have you ever tried to open these rudder ring for maintenance of the bearings inside ? My ST4000 rudder-ring is making scatching noise when rotating it. But i can't find any wholes or maintenance hatches to clean the bearings or put some grease in it..
