yes. It is easier to just bone meal a brown mushroom. It's not necessary that even more people comment that. I even made a video about this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKPRdph-nbxml9U In case somebody wants to build such a spreading based farm nevertheless, because they like building automated farms in general (yes, weird concept, building farms for fun) or just prefer to have something automatic that they don't need to put manual work into after it's done this is my suggestion how to do it.
@AlexOp2 жыл бұрын
I love building automatic farms. This is dope. Thanks.
@PBTophie2 жыл бұрын
Passive auto farms are my jam in Minecraft. Yes, if I need some brown mushroom, then I can plant a few, fertilize them, and chop them down. Then, with mushroom in hand, the job is done. But wouldn't it be COOLER if there was a massive tower dedicated to producing brown mushroom all by itself? Even if it took a bit longer to get that initial stack or two of mushroom in return, wouldn't it be COOLER to have double chests full of mushroom at the base of a massive farm? What about this do people not understand? It's cool, and you also just have mushroom for everyone!

I think this is one of the rare cases where desyncing the collection between the two sides can increase the rates. The reason is that as soon as one mushroom grows, the central row of mushrooms cannot spread anymore, and only one of the two lateral rows can keep spreading. By desyncing the collection, you alleviate this issue, "reactivating" the central mushrooms sooner on average.
@Nevir2022 жыл бұрын
Probably true, but likely not worth the effort of two separate signal towers, unless you build it wider as he mentioned, in which case having the two sides desynched could be done for free.

This is one of those cases where trying to force production is probably to disadvantage. 3 per hour per floor seems absurdly slow. We used the same radius but just one mushroom so that at most three mushrooms could appear per floor between flushings. Farms that alternate mushrooms would see less locking and more mushrooms between flushings with luck and fast spread. Our old bedrock to build height yielded a row of mushrooms per mc day.

Why do extra spawning blocks increase the rate of mushrooms? My understanding was that a mushroom would spread if there was an available block (and there were 4 or less mushrooms of the same time near it). I designed a farm with a single spawn block per level, but 16/16 mushrooms in range which instantly (2 red stone ticks) clears the block when one spawns. I even wrote a proof that 16 was the optimum number of mushrooms of one type that you could fit into the area (the proof was way easier than figuring out how to fit all 32 mushrooms into the area)!

@joevdb92322 жыл бұрын
not easily. if you want to procedurally destroy terrain and collect the items, that is a quarry. quarries generally need side trenches and clear top/bottom layers built in advance, so they're safe from liquids and there's somewhere for the block-breaking/item-collecting machinery to fit. ilmango's ancient debris tunnel bore is an exception: no trenches or clear layers needed, it goes right thru terrain. but, it's very limited: it does not work in the overworld, and storage is limited to a few hopper minecarts. also, it cannot reliably collect anything except ancient debris (other things burn in lava).

@masteroba43882 жыл бұрын
I don't think you need a fully automatic farm specifically to craft target block for brown mushroom farm, it's not really too much. But if you wanted a lot of wheat, here's a few option. 1.plain big wheat field if you're looking to expanded the farm quicker use fortune when harvest to get extra seeds. 2.micro farm(best option for most mid/end game) Probably the best option if you have bone meals. 3.villager powered fully automatic farm It's the only way to make fully automatic farm without player interaction. But it's quite slow for an automatic farm and not really worth the time. hence why it's quite rare for people to build one. 4.afkable automatic farm.(player needed to operate the farm) Ilmango built one in the peaceful series, there's probably many design. You probably need for map art to be interested in building one of these. Too much effort and too much wheat for normal use.

I haven't played minecraft in a while. Why would someone want only brown mushrooms?

Still not sure how brown mushrooms help with that.

@@smzubek Check out ilmango's recent videos about slimes and slime farms. They talk about why brown mushrooms are useful. You can build reasonably good slime farms in swamps now by using them and don't necessarily need slime chunks.

The TLDR is that brown mushrooms give off light level 1, which is just right for stopping hostile spawns except slimes in the swamp. Swamp slime farms are now a bit more efficient than most slime chunk farms, and a lot easier to make. Also just new, so fun
