I have been advised from KZbin videos that if my same transmission as yours is not shifting correctly or slips then don't flush the transmission, what would be your personal opinion be to that? I bought the filter and gasket also to do a flush from radiator cooler line to try and get as much out from torque converter also. I know that sounds tricky, especially starting engine with pipe disconnected but I was planning to rig up a pump to a line into dipstick. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sir ..i have a dowpt, finally why where you check the cool level of the oil ?
@mikeschmidt6843

Hi thanks for the video, I understand a flush of the entire system is not advisable. If i repeat the 6 litre drain and fill over 1000k twice would that replace more old fluid than a single drain. Should i eventually change the transmission filter? Regards mike.

At 1.44min I noticed I can't see your charcoal canister. Have you deleted it? And if so was that because you couldn't source a replacement (like me)?

Probably sounds a bit compulsive, but considering you only get about 35% of the transmission fluid out doing it this way, I like to drive the vehicle a few hundred miles and repeat the process two more times. As near to a complete flush as you can get without going through a TON of work.

If the drain is unplugged why only 35% ????
@LTZ_Z71
@LTZ_Z71 18 күн бұрын
@@tomhermens7698 A lot (the majority) of the fluid is in areas of the transmission and the torque converter and it doesn't drain just by pulling the plug. Annoying but all vehicles are like that these days.

Reparil Manual says "Drain and Refill 1.9 lt" İ can not understand how much exactly i must put in?
@2ndGearLow
@2ndGearLow Жыл бұрын
Hi Fatih, best to check that you are looking at the correct section of the manual and that you have the A442F automatic transmission shown, as 1.9 litres does not sound correct for a drain and refill on the ATF for this car. Follow the process of dipping to check the level before draining, then measure how much was taken out and add new ATF accordingly to bring back to full, then measure to confirm the level afterwards

Always always use the proper Toyota auto trans fluid!!!
@2ndGearLow

Hi Eon, thanks for watching. While some other Toyota models do specify a particular Toyota automatic transmission fluid, that's not the case here. The Toyota Owners Manual, and the Factory Service Manual, for this vehicle specifies DEXRON II or DEXRON III automatic transmission fluid, of which Castrol DEX III is a reputable option.

Hello..i wanna ask how we measure the oil atf? It's on cool or hot?
@2ndGearLow
@2ndGearLow 3 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. The ATF needs to be drained for a while, and will be cool (room temperature) by the time it is ready to measure. You will then replace it with new ATF also at room temperature, so the volume drained and re-filled can be matched

Is it okay if i replaced with dextron 6 atf?
@2ndGearLow
@2ndGearLow 8 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. While some manufacturers state that Dexron IV is backwards compatible with Dexron III, we would recommend sticking with the Dexron III that was specified by Toyota. Keep in mind that on a drain and refill you are only changing approximately 40% of the ATF volume (typically, more if you leave to drain longer), so whatever you put in will be mixing with what was already in the system.

you need to drop the pan to change filter, it retains metal particules
@2ndGearLow
@2ndGearLow Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. Yes, you can change the valve body oil strainer (35330-60010) while here, as the ATF needs to be drained prior to changing this, however the strainer does not need to be changed every time an ATF drain and fill is completed. We may do a separate video in future showing a drain and fill including changing the strainer

@@2ndGearLow I would like to see that video where you drop the pan and change the filter. There isn’t a start to finish video out there for this process on an A442.

Ive had my 1992 80s series for 23 yrs, done 460,000ks Never replaced auto trans oil When i do oil change how do i replace all oil as i viewed this and it says you carnt drain all old oil. Is this a problem Cheers Stephen
@2ndGearLow
@2ndGearLow 6 ай бұрын
Hi Stephen, thanks for watching. In this situation I would suggest doing a drain & fill (as per the video) multiple times, driving the car (say a few hundred kms) between each drain and fill. After 2-3 drain and fills, I'd expect the fluid has been nearly entirely changed for new, and would expect to see a change in the colour of the fluid coming out.
