I'm around the same point as you in my current save, but I think I'm going to restart, and borrow your idea of modding in 50 bajillion power shards, because without that or modded machines, the sheer quantity of machines I'm running has slowed my world to a crawl even on potato video settings. I also want to make a proper go of architectural work. I've done a couple neat buildings, but my later builds always devolved into "floating platforms/shoeboxes" because I was too focused on finishing the factory rather than enjoying the craft of it. I'll have to go back and look at your architecture tips vid for inspiration!

Something I've never understood (beyond the fun of doing the math) is belt balancing. As long as input, throughput and demand are all equal, then it will work out the same in the end. It just might take a minute longer for everything to get started.
@CntRational2 жыл бұрын
In practice that only works when the materials back up enough to start balancing on their own -- with optmized builds like this, there's not really a point where materials start backing up like that.
@jasam012 жыл бұрын
@@CntRational They always do backup eventually, even with a perfect input/output, though it can take meny hours for very large manafolds to hit 100% if they start from empty.
@GTalon52 жыл бұрын
@@CntRational Sure it does. Each machine can only use X number of parts per minute. If I have X parts * number of machines going into the system, after the start up it has to spread the parts evenly to use up everything. A machine that's already full can't continue taking in more then it's using. And if you did the math right, you can't feed more parts into the system then what it's using.

Yeah i feel like Kibitz tends to make things more complicated than they need to be. Also in this video, if i'm not mistaken he had 4 combined 720 outputs and one 120, but then he somehow made 780 lines and split them back down to 750 instead of just splitting the 120 in 4 and combining it with each of the 720s?

How are you bringing in all the bauxite? They are so far apart, one might think to use trains, but even that would be slow. Sure you could use belts to solve that issue, but is it practical to string up belts from each area?
@jasam012 жыл бұрын
Trains throughput is pritty good. On perticually long routes you might need more then one train. It's probably the most viable option. Belting works just fine, but it's a combination of "hitting fps issues from having a worlds worth of items on belts" and "being able to change where the output goes if you expand" tend to lead people to favour more robust logistical systems like trains/drones.

There is a up gradable hover jet pack module that can be upgraded with fuel pumps and a midair refueling module that lets you fly as long as you have fuel in your inventory also it can run on turbo fuel which the vanilla jetpack cant. its pretty convenient esp for the type of stuff you are doing.
