Automatrics car tracker recovers stolen Mercedes CAB AMG Line 061217 Southampton

Stolen Mercedes AMG Line 350 Cabriolet is tracked down by specialist security tracking company Automatrics using GPS, GSM and RF theft recovery tracking techniques.
We received an emergency call from a customer at 6pm telling us one of their high value AMG hire cars had been reported stolen by their client.
We alarmed the Automatrics theft recovery tracking unit to give us a GPS position behind some houses in St Denys, Southampton, just 15 minutes from our offices.
We deployed a recovery investigator with radio signal tracking receivers to attend and secure the 2017 registered AMG Cabriolet until the police could attend the site.
The car keys were reported lost a few days earlier. The attending Police officer suggested the keys were likely stolen by bandits to simply drive the car off later.
The vehicle was found within 60 monutes tucked away amongst some garages. The Automatrics radio signal finder picked up the signal emanating from a quite back alley. The car had been parked up alongside some garages. Hampshire police arrived at the find site to supervise the vehicle forensic recovery operation.

@@robertzerafa4806 Actually the usual reason police dont do forensics is because if they do forensics it cost the owner money to get the vehicle both examined and then stored in a police yard. from what i believe its £150. and police know most people dont wanna pay that kinda of money.

They probably took one look, noticed it had gone, then went and nicked another one. It's standard practice when they nick a high end motor, they will usually park it up somewhere out of the way and leave it alone for 48-72 hours in case it has a tracker.

Yeah arrests, prosecution that’s a whole different ball game, I wish the police had greater resource to do that element. They must get results from these forensic departments and the attending officer did say they had plenty of DNA evidence. It would have interesting to find out what happened. It’s almost certain, the hirer had something to do with it. They hid it there to find out if had a tracker on it. Anyway they must have been right shrewd nuts. Leaving cans of coke and other clues. I’d say it’s almost certain that they wound up being nicked.

That IS an AMG LINE E220 Cabrio. If the salesman did his job correctly he would have connected the customer to the Mercedes Connect Me system or installed the Mercedes Connect Me adapter which has vehicle tracking as a feature. An aftermarket system is not needed here. Good job though getting the car back.

Thanks, an interesting view. As we understand things a salesman cannot sell a GPS Connect Me overt telematics option as a robust theft recovery system. We consider a covert unknown aftermarket solution with stronger location technologies will do a much better job. Automatrics MTrack would certainly have far more options to recover the car say had the car been hidden inside a garage, a shipping container or if a GPS jammer was used. One would think an unskilled security tracking salesman pitching the Connect Me solution to their customer would likely be pretty upset not to get his car back in any of those circumstances.

Sure... hope your happy with your AMG, they do seemed to be the sort after models. If your AMG is fitted with the non-covert GPS only standard wired in tracker don't forget bandits can find these. When the time comes to consider some new secuity why not check out our more covert stolen vehicle recovery systems, something that can be better hidden, and not entirley dependant on GPS signals alone.

Yes that's a very good point. The police response in these situations can be very different, some would thoroughly check the immediate vicinity others don’t bother. On this operation we do not believe anyone was arrested. What we do know is the police took the car for forensic examination. Generally some arrests are made on site, and sometimes we are later contacted by police to make statements to help with prosecutions.

Our theft recovery tracking system is well hidden, with this client we have utilised a specialist high quality fitting company to install. They install in a more extreme deep fit, more covert location as hire vehicles can be very high risk and uncared for. In this way we can try to outsmart the more professional bandits who will try to locate and decommissioning the more run of the mill standard OEM partner trackers.

There is no additional fee for finding anywhere in the world. We don't usualy attend GPS reported locations unless the police are not responding in a timely manor or they cannot find the asset from the GPS fix alone. Or if the GPS signal is jammed or shielded by buildings. Then we will either deploy an Automatrics radio signal finder or work with specialist police units such as PANIU or NaVCIS who also have Automatrics radio tracking receivers. Various Law Enforcement will also do radio tracking and GPS finds for us abroad working through interpol. We will soon release a new video featuring the Swedish Police recoving 38 x outboard stolen engines in Lithuianian working with the Swedish Marine Police, IAMI and interpol

I think you are right the guy who hired the car reported the keys lost a few days earlier, but the hire company didn’t have time to change the locks so instead they sent him a replacement key. Could be a valuable lesson.

They probably did use the keys in this case, but keyless entry cars are easy to steal without keys. Especially with fords.

I think whoever are carrying these electric devices to steal cars I think they should be sent to prison to equipped to steal because my partner had her car stolen by the same method and it's disgusting
