Whilst i agree with your opinion that LMU currently offers the better driving experience, I strongly disagree that AMS2's FFB is Arcadey. FFB and Physics are two entirely different conversations and are often confused. If you aren't feeling exactly what you want to feel from your force feedback, then it's your ffb profile settings, period. Instead of trying other ffb profiles you've found, definitely try to build your own profile, strip back any wheelbase 'extras' and use the in-game ffb first, before adding in any external wheelbase software extras like intertia, damping etc. Physics on the other hand, I agree. Currently LMU offers a better driving experience, in fact, i'd go further and say no other sim offers the driving experience that LMU does. AMS2's physics, like you described, overdriving the car to produce quick lap times, with very little danger of losing the car are unrealistic, thankfully a major re-work has been undertaken and with the imminent release of the 1.6 update have largely been addressed. Currently, you can totally take the piss with overdriving, in 1.6, you'll quickly swap ends if you try to drive over the limit. Not saying they are LMU physics but they are massively improved. VR implementation, there really is no comparison, AMS2 is still the benchmark, far more polished and that was the title of your video, is ams2 VR better than LMU VR. performance is far superior in ams2 than LMU. At the end of the day, all of these opinions are entirely subjective. ask the same question regarding one sim versus another to 20 different people and you'll most likely get 20 different answers.
@MAWvR3ALITY3 ай бұрын
Thanks, that’s a really articulate clarification. Post the 1.6 update, I’ll have to invest some time in reevaluating - including taking your advice on profiles. My opinion is most definitely subjective and possibly (probably) skewed heavily by recency bias and euphoria. I had previously intended on investing the time to start from scratch, but that idea (project) has been gathering dust on my “to-do” list. Again, thanks - especially for taking the time to provide such comprehensive and constructive feedback 👍🏾. Edit - I just took a look and see you have a number of AMS2 videos. I’ll have to check them out and see/hear your experiences with it (subbed 🙌🏾).

@@MAWvR3ALITY yep, I agree with Metz. Having driven 1.6 a fair bit, I have to say I find AMS2 more enjoyable to drive than LMU, although I'm sure LMU is more realistic. In terms of VR AMS2 is far superior, and even if they fix things like the low rez mirrors in LMU, it likely won't match it based on my RF2 experience. It will still be decent though I'm sure and I hope they get there before they go bankrupt.

@@mikecroshaw9233 Thanks, I think “more enjoyable” is the most important thing. Like Metz says, ‘it’s subjective’. So, considering we all have finite time to invest in our hobbies - my opinion is somewhat irrelevant when it comes to people getting what they want or need, in return on the time they invest. But, if you all keep telling me how great 1.6 is - I might have to make a point of challenging my own opinion 😊.

I agree with you but I find ams2 a bit more fun. In vr in steam I set the world scale to 120 which gives it more realistic, by default I drive in a porch but it looks like a Toyota aigo. 😅I play the game with the psvr2 at 90 hertz, with my 7900xtx everything on ultra low everything looks very good. But as soon as I set the graphic settings higher it doesn't run as smoothly anymore, there is still work to be done.

@@MAWvR3ALITY As a huge RF2 FFB fan I found a FIX for AMS2 FFB, it's the only sim that requires almost max filtering in Logitech G Pro 11nm software, so it may be the case with other DD wheels, now its FFB on par or even better than RF2 for me. Stock car 2024 is the car to try for 1.6 tyres, much more punishing over the limit.

So addictive and setting laptimes 2:00.1 lap after lap and then finally get a 159.5 was such an amazing feeling. The whole journey and experience to get better times and improve. I confess, I’ve not tried RaceRoom for longer than 5 minutes. Out of interest, what sets RaceRoom apart for you?
@RandyMagruder3 ай бұрын
@@MAWvR3ALITY It's weird. I ignored RaceRoom forever. Raced every other sim. Tried it once, didn't go back. And then the graphics update came out in September and I thought what the heck, let's try it again. Just night and day better. FEEL: it feels smooth and predictable when driving. I can push, I can hustle the car around, I can FEEL what the car is doing. I can apply every principle used in LMU, iRacing etc and get predictable and enjoyable responses. VR: WIth OpenComposite replacing SteamVR and maxing out my render resolution on Quest 3, I get very very smooth and crisp visuals in VR. The HUD Elements work great in VR (In LMU you the HUD is just an overlay of your monitor hud so you have to scale it so it works, and its mushy and ...not great.) Sound: LMU and RaceRoom are easily the best SOUNDING titles I've ever heard. Watch a replay in action cam on RaceRoom with the volume up. WHOA. NetCode. Net code is VERY VERY solid. Even racing with people in Europe, I never feel that the collisions are unfair or netcode induced. Yes, people can skip around if their pings are high, but it's very solid. So many tracks, so many cars. And by buying packs or (as I ultimately did) the premium pack, I got ALL the content. I actually met some guys driving LMU Co-Op races with the new update (which I did in VR), and it was great, but at the same time, so many issues with it, that I introduced the guys on my team to RaceRoom and they are now buying content for it and racing it with me. RaceRoom for me is the best kept secret in Sim Racing.

Wow, I wasn't expecting your comparison result! Purely on VR visuals, I tip my cap to AMS2. But if combining VR and intuitive driving feel, then LMU takes the cake. Fun factor and ease of use is still with AMS2 as a complete package, but if LMU can polish the VR experience more e.g., HUD, menus, micro-stutters, etc. then LMU complete PKG will be better than AMS2. But the future of LMU looks to be up in the air and I don't know if I want to commit to it fully as my preferred sim

I'll have to time it to be completely objective, but they still aren't the greatest. Online it can seem like an age, but much of that is down to the splits being assigned to each server. @G.Yam743 ай бұрын
@@MAWvR3ALITY Thanks. Since I don't have much time anymore, I prefer to play single play. That means the AI still has to be loaded and finding this coordination was difficult enough in RF2. I remember spending entire weekends modding, playing around with the options more than racing. If you try umpteen times to find a setup that works well, you keep reloading. Very unfortunate. The same problem also occurs in other simulations. But AMS2 e.g. loads the route within seconds, so you can quickly find your way into the race. Even Assetto Corsa with Content Patch can be the worst. It charges faster than RF2 but there are more options than the SpaceShuttle. OutOfTheBox seems to still win AMS2 for me. Even if physics and FF aren't as good as RF2. You play the game and not with the options.
