AMS2 might have the most luscious, but LMU is approaching IRL picture quality if you have the GPU and headset lens to capitilise on it.

Whilst this is something I've felt since day one, along with friends, it's the fact people with real-world experience echo the sentiment that underscores the point. It's all due to the physics engine in LMU, the cars respond and behave the way you would intuitively expect them to. Whether that's slip angle, braking, weight transfer, traction - everything responds the way your brain expects physics to work - based on the way physics works in reality. People will say, if you've never driven an X, Y, Z - how would you know. But people who have driven X, Y, Z are sayiing the same. David Perel says the same, and he's driven the 296 IRL. Pick any circuit you've pounded out the laps in in iRacing, ACC, etc. - big the Mclaren 720s (free content), the baseline setup, and complete 5 laps. First laps, take note of the cold tyres. Lap 3-5, push for your life - no holding back. The 'easier' sentiment is - I'm not having to concentrate on 'particular way you have to drive - to be fast'. Instead, you drive and instuitively feel what the car is doing, and react - no conscious thought. So you push harder, taking the car to the edge of performance, instead of being afraid to find that edge. A long response, sorry - but your question deserved a thorough answer. If you don't turn a lap, an equivalent would be how good iRacing feels driving in the wet, compared to driving in the wet in other sims. Driving in the dry in LMU is the same scenario, but in reverse.

I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling as though they've finally introduced their tastebuds to Michelin' Star dining - after years of boil in the bag.

The first week after the update, I had about 3-4 CTD, hanging black-screens when leaving a session, and slow session loafing. (No jinx) I’ve not had any crashes since the very latest hot fix. I’m a DCS and MSFS pilot now, they’re the only two I’ve committed to. The original iL2 looks at me from my Steam library - asking why I’ve abandoned it 😏

Sorry no. I've got one stick set to navigate through the MFD - but I'm only using directions, not a click to select option. Have you tried experimenting to see if your gear paddle works as the click. Just to see if it's a case that the game doesn't like button you've tried.

Sorry to hear that. You’ll get it back. I know a few people who’ve haemorrhaged SR over the past few weeks. I had a bad week trying out HY - went back to B1, so had to grind my way back too. Hopefully it doesn’t take you too long.

Glad to hear you too have been hypnotised by LMU. I’m with you, happy to pay a sub whilst the return in value is so good. I’m really hoping they survive to grow and give the competition something to think about. LMU doing well is good for the other titles, as it’ll keep them on their toes.

I’m to blame to a certain degree, because I’m capturing at the same time as racing. However, yeah - I’ve seen the same affects on other streams and VOD on YT. Hopefully s397 make more progress on optimisation in the next round of updates.

Maybe we need an intervention 😂. It's starting to remind me of the in-game warnings/prompts Football Manager used to give - 'don't forget to eat', 'don't forget to go outside', 'don't forget to say hi to your family' 😁. And you've nailed it, it's that ability to really race - really race, without fear that the car will do something random. I've lost track of the number of oversteer saves, releases of the brake to avoid a flat-spot, or strategic positioning of the car at 250kph. Let's hope it only gets better from here on in.

You've probably saved yourself a lot of angst by waiting, good decision. I agree, I'm hoping they can leverage the licence deal for retrospective seasons. That said, I'm a creature of habit, and finding the racing so intense, so don't (yet) mind the limited number of tracks. I'm hoping the new championships for LMGT3 Fixed, LMGT3 Trophy, Le Mans Endurance, and Multiclass Masters add another element to keep people entertained.

No, in a word. I did look at a vid that suggested something like that, when I added one on the wheel and went into the game the the button did what it originally was `hud up'. I mean there's actually no headset reset the update you - would have thought....

@ ah, they’ve actually added an in-game button bind option. Remove the +VR modifier. Load the game in 2D mode - not the SteamVR option. In the game settings (control I think), towards the bottom of the screen, you can now map a button for recenter. You can also map IPD worldscale Up and down. You should (hopefully), be able to quit, restart in VR mode and hit recenter. Actually - before you restart in VR mode, check the other game options pages (either graphics or gameplay), one of them has an option to turn on the VR mirror window or turn it off - depends on your preference.

In truth I was surprised the VR worked as my Reverb G2 support has reportedly been stopped and effectively making the headset null n void. I was actually looking at replacing it with your BigScreen or the Megane X when it arrives. That penalty was a bit pants! What you supposed to do wait indefinitely!!? Thanks again.

Hey, I have the GT-M AERO V10 EVO2. I have to be honest, I last drove it 6 months ago so my memory of how it drove is pretty stale. However, I would still fully endorse the LMGT3's in LMU. The reason being, I love AC (prefer how it drives to ACC) - love the driving experience AC. However, right now - the driving experience in LMU has me spending pretty-much every spare minute in the game. I'd suggest, use the Steam 2 hour refund window and give LMU a try. You'll be trying at a pretty good moment, there are lots of additional players on the back of the December update. The update does appear to have brought back some of the bugs from prior to the September update but... Early Access and all that.

I might have been slightly salty at that point 😂

Glad you're getting so much out of both titles. Here's hoping they keep pushing each other to improve. If AC Evo can pick up the baton from AC, I don't think I'll be back in ACC anytime soon. The LMGT3's in LMU have truly spoiled me. The driving in LMU suits me so much more than any other sim, other than rF2. And after playing LMU and AMS2, iR looks so tired - let alone it's physics, that I can't go back there (yet). Anytime I've tried recording a video of iRacing VR - I've been so disappointed at the mirror window capture quality.

But the arguments of “you’re a gamer not an IRL racer is so strong”. It’s so helpful to hear the genuine options of people, like yourself, who can say - ‘I’ve raced IRL, my impressions are…’ These are the voices we need to get airtime.

I’m guessing they’ve made the fixed setups very safe, I haven’t tried tweaking them in open set sessions yet. Have you tried? You are right though, but I found the 296 turned the most (off throttle), then the Vette, then the 720s (no trail braking), then the BMW (that refused to commit) 😂

@MAWvR3ALITY thanks man for the answer, then i may need to do some set up tweaking or just buy the DLC. Did you change wheel rotation settings by the way or kept it at default (920 deg I think)? Lmu seems to be the only sim where somehow i need to turn the wheel (simagic Neo) more than I like or is comfortable to do

@@massivebass2088 I haven’t changed the wheel rotation settings yet, I’ve just let the sim do its thing (I have the CSL DD).

I’m still debating that at the moment. I’m not sure if I have the spare time to commit to one. But I’ll definitely do the official in-game championship. Are you planning on jointing any?

Sometimes the new DLC sets a new benchmark, each sim having to do better. Which is good for us sim-racers. Sometimes, it’s entirely confirmation bias or hype. I try to recognise my CB, but sometimes fail.

Sorry, I completely missed your comment. I'm not sure what those complaints are, I haven't seen them (yet). What I will say is, I've never really aligned with the eSports drivers and what they like or don't like. For far too many years, on iRacing I'd dislike the way the cars felt on hot tracks, love the way they felt on cold tracks - and yet, most of the eSports drivers I'd watch or talk to hated the cars feeling 'grippy' and seemed to revell in those hot slippery as hell scenarios. It's one of the reasons I cancelled my iRacing sub (just one of them). I figured the game was being developed around those preferences (assumed they'd have eSports racers as Alpha and Beta testers).
