I love the part where Elwood says, "I gotta pull over!" and then plows through the guard rail and zooms across the median and on the other side while the pursuing cop cars crash into the median and pile up on top of one another. I also love how John Candy gets a kick out of it when his car ends up in the back of a truck and he radios headquarters telling them, "We're in a truck!"

True. But in reality, it didn't actually have that much power. Only 220hp.
@alphamaledriveshard4 жыл бұрын
@@LITTLE1994 Even the police versions? It was still 1974. They might have retained some power from the glory days. The fastest police car until the new Dodge Charger entered service was the 1969 Dodge Polara after all. It hit 147 mph in the oval. Seriously, look it up. I don't know if it's a myth, but every record keeps saying it. Hard to imagine police cars losing that much power in 5 years.

I love the part during the mall car chase when Jake and Elwood are at each other's throats while driving through the mall parking lot, but the moment they're in the mall, they just casually talk about everything they see as they drive past. It's like they're window shopping.

This legendary movie DEFINES driving an ex-cop car and use it against police, and this was before the Crown Victoria came into wide use (Ironically, the Bluesmoble II is a '90 Crown, and, I own an '89 LX). 4:33 is the best part. But, in real life, don't try it, please. You can't outrun the radio.

For those of you who enjoyed the Mall car chase scene there is a Legomation version of this scene done basically frame for frame by a young Aussie guy. I can't speak highly enough of his work in replicating the scene and if you like you can also watch a Making Of video. Sorry, not sure how to insert a link.
